Not sure if he really wanted to deceive you or if there was a misunderstanding. I guess it could be that he was actually looking for help getting a skull for himself and wanted to find other people who also needed it.

Anyway, to find the skull you should head to Gusgen Mines in Konschtadt instead. There are Ghouls running around there all day instead of just during the night. If you want help getting the skull there are almost always people who mine there and people tend to be willing to help out. I can of course only speak for myself but whenever I mine there I do a /sea every now and then to see what my competition is like and whenever I see anyone without a sub not in a pt I offer to help getting the skull.

Thanks for the replies. I did just that (went to the Gusgen mines), Got the skull and completed the subjob quest. Since I am a RDM, any suggestions on which subjob I should pick? And how do I level it?

I suggest leveling both WHM and BLM. You'll need them both eventually if you want to be a good Red Mage, as which support job you choose will depend on your role in the parituclar party. you alredy know the majority of the low-level spells from both classes thanks to your time as a RDM. The extra MP from a WHM/BLM or BLM/WHM combination compared to a ???/RDM combination will also help a bit.

The easiest way to do it is to alternate back and forth, and use them as support jobs for each other. That way, you can share gear between WHM and BLM (they use mostly the same gear, especially if you stay away from the slightly heavier WHM-only armor) while you level. It goes much quicker than it sounds.

How you level it is easy. Go back to your mog house, change your "Main Job" to whatever job you want to level, and pick whatever you want as a "Support Job". Once the new "Main Job" (which you intend to use as a Support Job later) is at the appropriate level, go back to your mog house, switch back to Main Job Red Mage, and pick the job you leveled for a Support Job.

I have gotten skulls for people like that before. If I am farming and I see subjobless people in the zone I fill up my inventory before I kill ghouls. If I get a skull I send a tell and invite them quick. They lot. Get skull. He was probably trying to do this but got it wrong.
