There is a new translation out of the Grimm Brothers stories, The Original Folk and Fairy Tales of the Grimm Brothers. Supposedly this author, Jack Zipes, it the first to translate the first edition of the tales into English;

Some of them are extremely dark and harrowing. Many are somewhat erotic and deal with incest. Most of them are not what we call fairy tales; they tend to be animal tales or warning tales.

The book is all 156 stories from the two earliest editions The Grimms tales. Twenty bucks for the digi-version. ugh. I think I'm going to have to splurge.

You can read an excerpt from the book HERE.

Speaking of fairytales. Anyone still following Once Upon A Time? I tried to watch the two-hour special last night, but the Lego movie preempted it.
