I will need to change my pants if Cosmo shows up and is anywhere close to faithful to his 616 counterpart.

It'll be interesting too because this the first of the big Marvel movies where I know almost nothing about the source material going in.

Quick search on Comixology/Marvel.com puts just the collected GoG books @ $76.94. You'll probably want to pickup, at the very least, Annihilation: Conquest, The Thanos Imperative, & War of Kings as well. Annihilation is very good too & sets up the main GoG "reboot" that the movie is based upon with Drax playing a major role and Peter Quill & Gamora playing minor ones.

If you buy single issues to catch up with what isn't collected, you'll need to grab a couple issues of All New X-Men too (which is actually very good in its own right).

Josh Brolin is confirmed as the voice of Thanos in GoG & Avengers 3. I'm guessing he'll be CG.

A new rumor.

If it turns out to be true, I for one would be pretty okay with it.

Well, Gunn denies on his Twitter account that Nathan'll be Nova, but that he'll have a cameo. I don't feel it puts a nail in the coffin, as he could just as easily be denying it to make it a big surprise reveal in the end.

Admittedly, Nathan is kind of old to be playing Richard Rider since he's generally portrayed as a teenager, but it's not like the MCU has any qualms about character changes either.

Ever wonder what the trailer for Star Wars would look like in the style of GotG? Of course you have. Well lucky for you, such a trailer has been made. And it is awesome.

Nova's a teenager NOW over in Marvel 616, but I don't think anyone knows what happened to Richie. Just like no one knows how Star Lord escaped from the Cancerverse & became blonde.

Luke said "I'm a Jedi" and I was hoping someone said "Who?" and it disappointed me when it never came. Otherwise quite good.

Yeah, Sam is Rich's son and they're working their way to explaining what exactly happened with his disappearance.

More on the Fillion rumor.

@ lolGaxe

Sam isn't Richie's son, since his father feature promenantly in the first arc of Nova. I'm really just annoyed that there's been no explanation for how Star Lord escaped the Cancerverse. He did, obviously, but wtf happened to his pal Richie!?! Did Thanos eat him? How the **** did Thanos escape for that matter?!?!

****.

You're right. I somehow got it in my head that Sam's last name was Rider. I'm not even sure why. Blending similar characters together I guess. They've kind of hinted at how Thanos and Peter got out of the Cancerverse, but it was like one or two pages and vague as hell. Something to do with all the time traveling in the MU tearing down the dimensional barriers. Also how Angela made her Marvel debut.

And now they're working on the storyline how Angela is Thor's sister. I must say though, the current "Big Summer Eventâ„¢" is kind of amusing, if only because they're using The Orb.

I'm enjoying Original Sin itself, but I'm not reading any of the tie-ins. The Fury reveal at the end of the last one was pretty bad ***.

Where's the Angela is Thor's sister stuff happening? She just popped in to save Gamorra in the most recent GoG.

Olde Fury maybe. Beyond that not really. If people couldn't see it was going to be an LMD then they've not been paying attention.

Side issue. So far all there is is the Orb (I really love the guy) setting off the explosion and Thor's statement of "I have a sister?!" and a cover for his side issue that shows Angela front and center. The Hulk/Thor side issue is (so far) a ridiculous retcon of an origin story.

Latest GotG Extended TV Spot. The back and forth between Peter and Rocket is great. Little more than a month to go.

I don't think I like that. Angela getting pulled from her reality (Image Comics!) was a clever enough origin in that the Spawn stuff still "happened" but never actually has to be referenced by Marvel. Making her Odin's daughter would mean Odin would have had to father her in Image's reality for the whole "getting pulled through the multiverse" thing to actually of happened.

I've like her in Guardians, but I don't really feel like Marvel really needs to retcon her origin. Especially THAT much. An Angelic Mercenary from another dimension that was fathered by Odin from the 616 dimension requires too many hoops to jump through.

Amusingly enough ...

There's not much to go on as far as the Thor Angela Lineage as of yet, so I'll sit back and wait for it. I have my doubts of it's quality as well, though.

All I could find is an upcoming Original Sin tie-in with Loki, Thor, and Angela & the "I have a sister" line. We'll see I suppose.

So, I guess the current lineup of GoG is Star Lord (who's been sporting his old fashion duds as of late, but appears with his "new"/movie helmet on the most recent cover), Rocket, Groot, Gamora, Drax, Venom, Angela, & Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers). Also, putting Captain Marvel on the cover of the last issue when she didn't appear until the most recent one pretty much ruined the surprise.

I miss Mantis, Cosmo, & Jack "I hate cosmic stuff" Flag.

You know, I can't remember Jack Flag at all. Cosmo was in an issue or two of Nova along with Beta Ray Bill, Mantis seems to be MIA, but Flag I had to look up.

Side note, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang in the Ant-Man movie, assuming it can ever get off the ground. Michael Douglass still looks to be Hank Pym, kind of curious how that is going to work out. Admittedly still bitter about lack of Pym in Avengers and Ultron.

Mantis showed up for an issue in the "new" GoG (after the Thanos Imperative), but Cosmo, Major Victory, Bug, Moondragon, & Jack Flag disappeared with no mentions. Adam Warlock/Magus and Phyla are still dead as far as I know (But Wendall Vaughn/Quasar came back from the dead sometime between when Annihilus killed him & the Thanos Imperative), Drax was dead, & as far as I know no one has bothered to ask Quill what happened to Richard Rider (& you'd think Gamora might want to know if her ex is dead, alive, or still stuck in the Cancerverse).

Even with that, I'd been very much enjoying the "new" GoG up until the last few issues. I'm fine with things that happen in other Marvel issues effecting the main GoG book, but something like a new member should probably happen in the main book (& whatever Avengers team he's on isn't even one of their books that I read, lol. Is there a new West Coast Avengers team or something?!) & there's little excuse to put Captain Marvel on your cover when she doesn't even appear in that issue, but the next one!

I really liked the crossover with the All New X-Men though (the original team pulled through time to the present w/Kitty Pryde. Its actually a very good book in its own right though & the only X book I read currently ((unless you count Uncanny Avengers, which is also awesome)) & it looks like we'll get a fight between Drax & Gladiator out of it, so theres that.

Gunn reveals Awesome Mix Vol. 1

Also, this is an amusing thing. Kind of enjoying the stuff that comes out for movies nowadays. All that advertising taking risks to make interesting things. Man of Steel had the Name translator, and Robocop had an OCP tour page, even if the movie remake was ... wonky.
Omegavegeta wrote:

There isn't, but so far there's a Ghost Rider, a Hawkeye, and Punisher in the greater Los Angeles area. Then you have the New Warriors out of New Mexico which you could probably shift them over a bit. Being an Avenger is kind of like getting your degree from the DeVry Institute so I wouldn't be surprised if/when a WCA book is brought out.

I think Marvel/Disney has done really well marketing this, but as a fanboy its hard for me to judge what the general public thinks about this. I'm sure I'll think it was great, I just really hope it doesn't pull a Scott Pilgrim and be awesome but bomb.

It looks like the solo Starlord & Rocket comics are gonna give us some of the answers I was looking for in the comics. Unfortunately, only Rocket's was interesting enough for me to keep buying (& the fact that Scottie Young's Art is PERFECT for it helps too).

So, the new Original Sin: Thor & Loki just came out.

Setup: There are currently two Lokis. One is a future version, which is evil, that has come back in time at the behest of King Thor- according to him - to ensure that king Thor comes to power. I guess. He's currently imprisoned in Asgard where after Odin's death, Freya is running things.

The 2nd version, "young" Loki, is good & an Agent of Asgard (idk wtd that even means) & doesn't want to become his future evil self.

Anyhoo, apparently the 10th realm full of Angels attacked Asgard at the dawn of time, killed Thor & Loki's sister in front of Freya & Odin, so Odin @#%^ing removed the entire 10th realm from the world tree and put it somewhere else out of rage/grief. Thor gets young Loki to help him find it & they ride @#%^ing Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder into the 10th realm where the art changes from Garbett's (more of a traditional western comic art style) to Bianchi's (watercolors!).

It's actually decent so far.
