I thought Marvel was doing a pretty good job with most of their books, outside of the X-Men which became quite a mess over this time, from Avengers Disassembled right up through the end of Siege. Spidey was going along well until One More Day, and even though the post One More Day stories were pretty good, I had a hard time hand waving away Peter's Marriage. I was not following the book when Doc Ock took over Peter's body, but I dislike the idea.
Ultimate Spider-Man has pretty much always been good & the Ultimates mostly good (I really like the idea of Mr. Fantastic as a villain - see Planetary if you want an even better version of this). The cost of my wedding is what stopped me from going to the comic shop on Wednesdays, but I still pick up the trades of The Walking Dead, Invincible, Saga, Kick-***, & the occasional Marvel book.
