Haven't been reading the spin-offs, but I liked the beginning of the main Axis book but its taken a huge dive after the whole inversion thing happened (you make Falcon Cap' & then immediately make him bad? Really?).
Yeah, after Genosha the main story really took a painful shift in quality, but the spin-offs are definitely the better read. I'm still amused that the first thing they do with Captain Falcon is to make him an angry fascist. Disappointed, too. I mean, look at the premise. We could have had Batman Beyond.

I don't really know whats going on in the spin-offs, as Avengers/New Avengers/Avenger's World seems to just be continuing the same story that started before Infinity with no mention of Inversion at all. Its a way better story anyway (I really like the concept of the builders, etc.), so I don't mind. Thor (Odin-son) & Hyperion are pretty much the best together & they made Sunspot quite interesting.

Angela's solo book shows promise, but I did not love it.

Legendary Star-Lord may have had the least surprising villain reveal of all time.

I do pickup Nova & it was pretty good seeing him take on Inverted Hulk & seeing happy go lucky Carnage running around, but that's about it.

Avengers World also gave us Shang Chi on giant man Pym particles fighting a giant dragon with Madripoor on it's head in the middle of Shanghai, which was pretty much the best.

I just wish there wasn't like thirty events going on at the same time, it's making things confusing. In Axis you have Thor going cross-country gambling and boozing and being a general cnut, while in Incursion he's noble and on a mission to the other side of the multiverse with Hyperion. That's not even including Spider-verse, which thankfully seems to be happening at it's own pace and not caught up to the other events, except the past X-Men seem to be in Ultimate Universe hanging with Miles, except Miles is with the Spider-Corps ...

It's become more of a political thriller. More dealing with corrupt bureaucracy than giant goofy looking cannibals.

I caught up with Magi, which is ... a lot darker than I had anticipated it would be. So that was a pleasant surprise. Also finished Hitman Reborn, and I'd like to personally thank whoever suggested that one. With a blender. It was pretty middle of the road shounen, taken down by the standard power creep and the ridiculous tournament format and the ambiguous non-ending ending. Hajime no Ippo is finally dealing with Ippo losing a fight, something that could have been handled hundreds of chapters ago for character growth. And finally Shaman King: Flowers' book got nixed which also put the story on an indefinite halt. Shame, it was just starting to get interesting.

Its a very good anime (& was on Netflix, not sure if it still is) and if you're dying to know where its going when it comes back for Season 2, you can read the manga.

In my opinion it is one of the rare instances where the Anime is better than the manga.

Yea, the anime was great and I'm hesitant to pick up the manga if it's a very different experience - it may just be worth waiting.

Bleach: Moustachioed Nazi Generalissimo survives because Moustachioed Nazi Generalissimo.

One Piece: Giant punches fat ballerina.

Fairy Tail Blue Whatever: Two chapters and hit pretty much every shoujo CLAMP related trope. Bravo.

Forgot to load my tablet so I'll edit the western funny books after lunch sometime.

I think commenting on all the western funny books would be impossible, so I'll just focus on the overall events and storylines.

Axis: Every panel with Carnage is like mana from the heavens. The badguys definitely got the better side of the stick in this storyline. The heroes are all just basically angry fascists who have accepted what happened, but villains like Carnage, Mystique, and even Sabretooth are all aware they've changed and it plays well. Deadpool might be the only good guy who has any dimensions on him left.

Load of crap with the Magneto isn't really Wanda's and Pietro's father reveal.

Incursion: Poor Carol. Smiley: laugh

Spider-verse: Spider-Gwen is an interesting addition, and seeing the various Spiders in one form or the other is interesting. DisneyXD Ultimate Spider in 1960s Animated Spider-world was amusing, and I had a good laugh when they were in the newspaper world where everything repeated itself almost infinitely and the glorious Hostess Advertisement Spider-Man. On the other hand Silk is a fanfiction self-insert author avatar character and it makes my skin crawl.

Anyway, RIP Spider-Enigma. Smiley: frown

Axis: The least entertaining crossover in the Marvelverse at the moment. How long do you think Wade will stay dead this time?

Incursion: It took me a bit to realize there was a time jump. No problems that Axis doesn't seem to be effecting this storyline at all, since its been going on so long & is way more interesting anyway. Really like how it treats the multiverse & how Earth 616 has put it's faith in the Cabal & gave them Wakanda. Tony deserves to sit in his box & think about what he did some more. Looks like it'll be Sunspot & the Avengers World team that isn't chilling with Strange & the Black Priests as well as AIM that'll get Steve/SHIELD & the Illuminati to play nice & maybe even save the multiverse.

Although they will owe the Cabal for keeping Earth 616 around long enough to survive it.

Spider-verse: I stopped reading Spidey mostly after One More Day. I'm trying to like ASM & I did (I started reading again when Peter became Spidey again. All I really read of the Dock Ock stuff was him being a **** in Avengers) up until this Spider-Verse thing hit part 3. I actually like the whole Spider Totems/Morlun stuff the first time, The Other sucked (So the Scarlet Spider is now Kaine who is the Other? Thanks Mephisto...), & I want to like the idea that Morlun & his family or multiversal totemic vampires, but I kinda feel like the whole multiversal aspect of it is silly compared to the stuff that's been going on in Avengers/New Avengers with the collapse of the multiverse.

If this **** is really whats wrong with the multiverse send the Cabal after Morlun's Dad. Thanos can't die & it'd be cathartic to see Morlun's Dad pay the tribute.

Bleach: Pretty sure the monk used the 99th? Kido that Aizen tried to use back in the "glory" days of the manga, the one where he said it was still incomplete. It's a good thing Ywach doesn't need contact lenses, he would have to roll his eyes 360 degrees to get them all in place.
One Piece: Overly Attached Girlfriend hooks up with the non-Sanji kicking specialist.
Fairy Tail - Mavis: The training arc begins now.
Fairy Tail - Grey: Gildarts looks like Ging from Hunter X Hunter now.

Bleach: Well, that was just as dumb and pointless as expected. So ready for this series to be over.

Also, saw this clarification on Yhwach's power, it really is as dumb and OP as we're supposed to think it is.

1. One Iris (in each eye). The "closed eyes" state, where Yhwach doesn't access his power.
2. Two Irises. Yhwach gains omniscience - he can see and understand everything, even things which haven't happened yet. With that knowledge, abilities used against him are automatically countered.
3. Three Irises. Yhwach gains omnipotence - he can not only see, understand, and counter abilities, but he also gains control over them.

The idea I guess being that this only counters actual abilities and so won't be as useful against pure combat types like Ichigo. Except Ichigo's going to be fighting Ishida, not Yhwach, anyway...

Moustachio has like twenty pupils, but can he see why children love the taste of Cinnamon Toast Crunch?

Axis: Oh god they brought back Steve's 90s Power Americarmor.

There's a book that kind of sort of updates some of the characters and their places in the current canon, including mentions of both Axis and Incursion, but nothing on Spider-verse. Kind of a thirty page Encyclopedia Geekannica. I'm going to read it over the break, simply because it's real book format with the occasional picture, and that kind of thing requires a bit more commitment than the standard picture funny books.

Fairy Tail Edit-ion: A little plot development, at least towards the original Dragon Disappearance mystery. Still, the whole "They appear out of nowhere and solve the problem instantly" thing left a pretty bitter taste.

I hope for more Bartolomeo.

Also last week was pretty slim in the way of reading material.

Edit -

Fairy Tail: RIP in peace Igneel. You know, until you're plot deviced back.

New from Marvel -

Wolverines: Not spoilering. X-23 and Daken inexplicably out of character, Sabretooth understandably out of character, Donut Steel Original Characters don't have any character to be in or out of.

Ant-Man: Why is Cassie suddenly a middle schooler? Oh well, I kind of like Scott prioritizing being a dad. I can relate to that, nice touch. His butting heads with Tony was good, too.

Unbeatable Squirrel Girl: Cute first issue story, horrible art. I personally like her doing her thing off-panel, and the times she's on panel it isn't really being a super hero. The last time she made an appearance it was to be a nanny for Luke and Jessica's baby. The going to school thing is a good direction. The Galactus cliffhanger not so much. Hope they leave that off-panel.

Fairy Tail: Dragons are permanently gone, Acnologia is the only one left. Dragons wrote the Magna Carta, really should have been the Manga Carta. Next main battle will most likely be Zeref/End vs Acnologia with the Slayers temp-teaming up with Zeref to kill Acnologia.

Fairy Tale:
Yay Dragons! A couple issues later, bu-bye dragons!

Marvel:
Picked up ASM (more Spider-Verse stuff. Still don't really care.)
Legendary Star Lord: Kitty & Peter finally get together for real again.
Angela: She stole her new sister from Odin for some reason. Odinson/Thor seems to be pre-Inversion/going off to save the multiverse. Not great, but a bit more ret-conning of her back story.

From what I've read elsewhere, Inversion is time-skipped a couple of months in the future so everything going on in that storyline currently isn't really part of the ongoings of the rest of the storylines. Apparently it should all be wrapped up around March, I believe. Rumormill is saying it'll be a big reboot, similar to Nu52, but I have my doubts on that.
