Not that anyone really knows me, or cares, but what the hell its +1 to my post count. So here is a book review of the book I am currently reading (or series rather). Feel free to contribute or add your own review of another title or titles.

R.A. Salvatore

The Crimson Shadow

1) The Sword of Bedwyr
2) Luthien's Gamble
3) The Dragon King

Review: This series is really not bad, but don't go into it expecting the greatest of high fantasy. As good as Salvatore is, I don't feel that he has ever developed past a certain point as a writer. His characters in this book are as flat and two dimensional as any of his other Drizzt series clones. Don't get me wrong - not a bad book but really just a series to pass the time with while waiting for something better. Or while taking a dump. In other words, not so much High Fantasy as it is High Fluff, AKA a remake of his other works with a new world and different character names.

Rating: 1.5 V's out of 5. His battle scenes, as descriptive as ever (given they're almost cut and pasted from the Drizzt series) saved it from a .5

I fear Salvatore like Eddings had only one good series in him and should have left it at that.

The Drizzt books where good until they started to seem formular in the way that Eddings in jokes where starting to get old by the end of the Mallorean.

Both should have either changed tack completely or stopped.
