- Yay for casting Cutty from The Wire as Tyreese! - TV Andrea still sucks. - I'm guessing Merl's joining team Rick after he & Daryl escape. Working as the Governor's inside man of course. - While I like TV Michonne, comic book Michonne is more badass.

Some things irked me about the midseason finale. For one, how the hell did Daryl get captured? He's been pretty much the badass since day one, and now he gets captured by some random militia wannabes? I'm guessing he just let them take him captive, but still. I'm also not really enjoying the whole "Lose a Black, get a Black" casting going on. I did like Tyreese in the books, though. I did appreciate him having a hammer. That's a little touch most people probably wouldn't get. Oh, and that short "So you're a lesbian" scene between Carol and Axel was funny. And then we've got the Governor. In the books he's a downright despicable individual, but on the show they seem to be trying to make him a sympathetic villain. My guess would be it was the censor's fault, since I kind of doubt they could even imply the deal between him and Penny. Worse still, now we gotta wait till February, and Comic Book Men gets moved to Thursday.
Oh, and Andrea continues to suck as mentioned. The TV writers must hate how awesome she is in the books.

I enjoyed the mid-season finale. Though in retrospect I'll admit I'm starting to feel disillusioned about The Walking Dead: Andrea is again being used for character development purposes, T-Dog #2/Oscar getting killed off and being replaced by Tyrese (seriously wtf man?! ), Michonne finally shows an emotion besides anger (for 10 seconds...),the Dixon brothers being reunited and Andrea staring there like a deer in the headlights (a mix of good and bad IMHO).
Other points I really enjoyed: Axel going pedobear, making a nod to the comic via Axel calling Carol a lesbian, the eye gouging, Rick losing his sh*t and seeing Shane, Carl slowing becoming more of a badass, Michonne realizing Andrea ain't her buddy no more and saying "You NEED me."
Overall it did a decent job as a mid-season finally but I'm certainly not looking at this show with the same glossy eyed enthusiam as I once did.
I was pretty happy overall with this episode, although Andrea is, in my opinion, getting drastically close to Lori-levels of dislike. Yes, her character has been neutered (or spayed) compared to the comic but it's more as to how the actress plays her. Just the way she delivers some of her lines. I like the actress but some of her mannerisms rub me wrong. Nothing that I can specifically point to. Maybe it's just me, though.
And how about Glen getting all badass? First taking out that zombie with a chair, then making a weapon out of it's arm! That was damn creative.
I'm still sticking with my Merle prediction. No way Rick will let him back in the group after what he did to Glen and Maggie. Not even as a hostage. I just can't see it happening.

It makes sense. He was getting hemmed in on multiple sides by the gov's crew. They may not be sharpshots, but for him to try to get over the wall by himself where the rest of the team did over the bus would be a death sentence. It was either keep fighting and die or give up. He's a badass, but moreso he seems to be a survivalist.

Ive never read the comics/books but... this governor just seems to be more realistic. Why would people follow him/trust woodbury if he was just a despot? It would be hard for his troops to hold all these people under duress without constant escape attempts and possible multiple mutinys.

What else could she do? I doubt she could have single-handedly saved Daryl while fighting off a bunch of angry latina woman and the gov's gun-toting force. Also, she had no idea why daryl was there except for the lies the gov told her/everyone. The scene clearly showed her confusion/questioning of what was going on, and that makes sense considering the situation and everything thats happened.
I did really enjoy seeing Michonne 'emote' this episode; the way she reacted to penny kind of tells that the young daughter/child 'hit close to home' for her, that maybe she experienced something like that in her past -ergo her wack attitude. That would help to explain her dead-inside wont-open-up-to-anyone demeanor.

Eeeww, did they really go there in the comic books? Or is my mind just being extra dirty today?
As for the finale, I liked it. Had lots of action and good scenes. The thing with the black dudes is rather idiotic. They should just have let T-Dog live. And develope him as a real character. In my eyes, Andrea has surpassed Lori by being a douche extraordinaire and unbelievably naive and trusting when it comes to the Govenor while being so so quick to jump to conclusions when it comes to Michonne. It's not like Michonne saved her life, most likely multiple times, during the missing months between s2 and s3. I like what they are doing with Carl. In s2 I found him a tad annoying but now he seems years ahead of his age when it comes to maturity and decision making. I'd like it if he would display more emotions. Not much more. Just a tiny bit.

As someone that's never read the comics and probably never will, I'm really happy with the direction the show is going. This season is much better than the first two. Also, I like that we all hate Andrea. Every show needs someone to hate. We hate Andrea and I think we're supposed to.
And in spite of myself, I'm starting to like Carl. Dammit.

He's really good at hiding it.

Yeah, it goes into extra detail in the "Rise of the Governor" mini.

I saw this on IGN. It's some of the cast talking about the upcoming second half of this season. Not much is really revealed, mostly a re-hash of what's happened so far this year. I liked it just for the chance to hear Rick and the Governor's real voices. And Michonne smiles! Notice, there may be minor spoilers for anyone not caught up though. http://http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/12/11/the-walking-dead-cast-discuss-the-second-half-of-season-3
So, I fell like Kirkman's giving the finger to all the new fans of his comics, by going really dark. Especially if you read Invincible, where he breaks the fourth wall & basically tells you he is.
Still my two favorite comics atm, though.

I think the comics have reached the point where they've outlived their fifteen minutes of fame, as it were. I think they should weed out the entire cast and start over on a new group.

I haven't read this month's yet, but it seems like thats what he's doing with the two (Not counting Carl) characters that have left since #100.

Just bumping this to point out the show restarts this Sunday (Feb 10th) for anyone still interested, with an all day marathon before it. Hopefully a few of those questions I had from the finale are answered.

Agreed. Although the Governor taking out the bitten woodbury guy is pretty much the most awesome thing he's done on screen thus far. Still hate TV Andrea, especially the Zombie Apocalypse MLK she became for a bit this episode.

I'm really bummed to see Michonne going the way of Andrea. Awesome comic characters turning to garbage on tv. Andrea might be a lost cause but Michonne still has time to come around. She just needs To. Say. Some. Thing. This perma-pissed attitude is wearing thin.
I thought it was okay too. Hopefully they don't drag this whole Rick-goes-crazy thing out too long.
Can anybody explain to me why Andrea is still in Woodsbury even after everything that happened last episode? I mean an explanation other than 'She has a severe mental illness'. -.-
Do the comic book fans know if Daryl is coming back? Would hate if he would be gone for good.

Only explanation I've got is that the writers hate her.
