I'm just saying that there have been plenty of threads that have been derailed and not locked (often for things not even slightly FFXI related), so I disagree with the suggestion it should be locked for being off the original topic.

It was locked because someone complained about it and the admin agreed. No one gets angry over a simple derail. The lolValdan thread was flamey with lots of anger. People get angry they're under a personal attack.

Well, I wasn't saying that was the reason it was locked. In fact, my argument was threads never seem to get locked because of being derailed. I used an extreme example - a FFXI-related thread being derailed into something completly not FFXI related and still remaining open.

I don't know if I agree no one ever gets angry over being derailed. If it was a legitimate conversation going on and a few people come in and take the thread over to talk about random stuff, then I would imagine the OP and others could feel upset.

People generally don't use the Report button over derails, and that button is the only way to get mod attention in obscure corners like the Lakshmi forum.

Now I have a question. When in real life has topics of conversation ever stayed on topic? Every single conversation I've had goes from one topic to another to another. It's like a perpetual derail. I don't think you can say, "No more derails!" and expect people to follow it as it's not in human nature to stop and start just like that. It'd be like hanging up the phone and calling the person again each time I want talk about a different topic.

My point was that even if it just informed one person, it was worth it. I'm one person and I'm sure there's been more.

Don't forget also that word of mouth has likely spread the news past just the people that come here.

Actually, in this particular case, the person went straight to the Site Feedback page and posted a lock request.

That's not quite true Sus. I have had plenty of conversations that start and end, without ever going off topic. The common denominator in your situation, is you. And that's not a bad thing, but I'll tell you why that is. A man's thinking works like a waffle. Everything is in a nice little compartment. And when a man wishes to discuss something, he goes to that compartment, talks about the issue there, and then it's done. A woman on the other hand, thinks like spaghetti. A big pile of wound noodles, all crossing and touching each other. So when a woman has a conversation, every time that thought noodle touches another, things get sidetracked.

Normally I would scold you for using a RL analogy.

However I will let this one slide since it involves delicious waffles and spaghetti.

Normally I would scold myself, but since she asked a RL question, it required a RL answer.

Also, don't forget that Bacon goes good with both waffles and spaghetti!

I still wish they would have given us a reason they were locking the thread. All we know is Ezzelin asked for the thread to be locked - I guess being in Miracles, Galan and Holman's shell, I can see why he'd want that. I still didn't see the actual reason for the lock besides Ezzelin asking and the thread "needing a rest".

I really don't need a reason to lock a thread. However it was requested, I read the thread and I agreed.

Warning people of bad players != flaming. Keep the threads civilized.

I dunno, I've sat in many conversations with me as the only girl and watch the conversation go from A to B to G to X to A.

Nice analogy though. I guess that's why women can keep tabs on more things than men. ;)

These Soulless guys really are obsessed with you Vawn. Was enjoying some lulz by insulting Rowley and Galan today in Whitegate, and all they kept saying was "Your LS leader Vawn is a n00b." Apparently I didn't get the memo that I joined your Linkshell.

Was this unprovoked insulting? Just because they're crappy for whatever reasons doesn't give you permission to insult them the moment you see them.

It's another story when they start it though.

I have permission to insult who I want and when I want mother, but no. We shouted for a RDM in our merit party, Galan answered and I said no, so he called me a "***** *** whiteboy with crappy gear."

I think Allakhazam is a linkshell to them and apparantly they designated me as the leader. I am not a leader of any linkshell (except I still hold the shell for the dynamis shell Ultimate, even though I am no longer doing Dynamis).

I'd had GM'd him he said that to me. You know if you said the same thing but made mention of the fact he was black, you'd be in deep sh*t.

Holman posts nonsense on my FFXIAH page every single day. I delete it every day and he comes back, so yeah I don't think there is any loveloss there.

EDIT: Just wanted to see if I got mentioned on their site and saw this log (note posted in reverse order)

I don't know who "hacked" their site, but it wasn't me. I got in there the other day and I guess they switched something, thinking it was safe. Whoever "WebDesignDegree>You" is, they think its me and Holman did it to track the IP address. Oooooh Scary.

I didn't mind actually, cause after I asked if he was black he replied "Naw I just ain't a white boy." Apparently the way Holman and his buddies speak is rubbing off on Galan, wigger much?

Also Rowley said something that made me lol. Galan, once again, accused me of buying gil as ironic as it is coming from him. When I said he had no right to even accuse anyone after his reputation for it was so well known, Rowley responds "LOL, 95% of people buy gil anyway." Looks like most of these Soulless douchebags condone this crap, though I did have a really good Soulless member in my party afterwards who I'll leave nameless that agreed Galan and the bunch were jerkoffs.

For those upset about the last thread being locked and wish for more Holman/Deemos drama, check out this slighly older thread I on FFXIAH I just ran across. Holman apparantly has Deemos's IP address as well and is going to (I have to assume already has) hunted him down and kicked his ***.

Judging by the dates and the discussions in the chatbox, I'm pretty sure "WebDesignDegree>You" is Deemos and that's the one who they believe hacked their site.
