So I am in a long-term relationship with Maat and capped at lvl 70, which sucks.

The Guild Season 4 started today, which does not suck.

Fighting Maat on RDM was the suck! I found the only way to beat him was to run right in and sleep him. Don't wait at the enterance and buff yourself because he is doing the same thing. Run in, Run up and sleep him then dispell him. Then gravity, bind and nuke nuke, Sleep... convert, Chainspell, nuke nuke nuke, sleep untill dead.

The only buffs you really need on yourself after you sleep him the first time are stoneskin, shell and I guess aquaveil would be good now. The key is to think of it less as a smooth, controlled fight and more as a psychotic "blast him in the face as fast as you can" fight.

Definitely try running up and sleeping him immediately though, that makes it a lot easier and it means you have a lot less to dispel.

Trying sleep/debuff/nuke. Special macros just for maat. My error has been in getting so comfortable (they go pretty smooth) that I do this too long and then he hits with Asuran Fists. >.< I usually have him down to around 50% so I should really know better and start nuking.

Last night I got tired of it. Ran in. Cast blink and stoneskin. Popped a yag drink then Diaga, Chainspell, A3, A3, A3, Vile elixir, A3, Stoneskin, vile elixir +1, A3... This was by far the closest. Below 50%. BUT! When I stoneskinned and v+1, I forgot to retarget maat so my last a3 was clumsy and I should have had time to hit him more.

Ty all I have seen are the rumors. Nothing confirmed yet.

Bun, don't feel too bad. My old social LS leader was a Mithra RDM who went 0/14 before finally beating Maat.

Don't hate me for going 1/1 on PLD, ok?

I went 1/11 on Maat on rdm. I would suggest not casting Diaga. This way you still have a chance to sleep him. Sleeping him was the only way I found to stop him from killing me. If I didn't sleep, bind, gravity he would run up and smack me.

No, when I cast diaga it was the fight that I just ran in an nuked the hell out of him. My a3 after that hit for over 350. It worked really well until I had the macro/brain fail, but the elixirs ran me 70k just for the one fight, so I may go back to sleep/nuke. When I plan on sleeping him, I wouldn't dream of using a dot spell. I just got bored and wanted to try a different strategy. I am 0/7. Luckily I have made some awesome friends who see my butt back in Temple Uggly farming pots and just show up to help (>.< I suck at asking for help, so I love them all for this).

I'd never hate anyone for a 1/1 victory. I have been slacking off for years and don't overly deserve an easy go at it.^^

No joytoy either Szab. I am seriously so good at slacking-off/hiding that many native Lakshmians assume I am a Garuda transplant even tho I have been on the server since 2004.

I had a real tough time with RDM Maat too, Bun. I'm pretty sure I went into double-digits... Then again, I actually found the process of going through the fight invaluable. Probably like most RDMs on the way up, I was a little too used to the support/pink-magey type role, so the whole idea of having to control an opponent, protect oneself, and ultimately triumph over it was obviously a massive ordeal with which to contend. I like to think it made me a better RDM, even though it was a royal pain in the {Tarutaru Stool} at the time.

Best advice I can give: Don't panic. (A "don't think about the pink elephant" trap in itself, but panic is the chief killer of all RDMs, especially soloists.) By the sounds of it, you're approaching it well, but it's the little things that make you slip up. Quick-thinking and using all your tools when necessary is what will net you the win, especially Sleep I and II, Bind, and Gravity.

I realise that's probably not exactly helpful, but... be shrewd and composed! You can doooeeet~!

Lol Thanks.^^ I'll nail him eventually. It's not so much a panic as it is really stupid little errors or just being too complacent when it's going smoothly. Sleep I and II are both macro'd. Usually if one doesn't stick the next will so it's more of an "Eat this you old goat!" than an "AHHZOMGHERESISTEDMAHSLEEPZ!"

You're in SoM, right?

My Slacker Skill is capped. My Slacker AF gear also adds a bonus of "Hide from End Game Activities" +11!ONE!!1Eleventy1!1. It has a latency effect of "hide when an NM needs to be camped" while fishing.

It's how I managed to stay level 65 since the end of 2005 up until about 3 months ago.

Oh... No, I'm not.

I don't think you'll like my answer(s) to those other suggestions. Szabo might, though.

Level 80 Scholar is just... so... broken! I never had serious MP issues on my SCH. With relic and AF, my 4HP/tic sublimation kept my MP up relatively easy... but now... any time I do run out of MP... I just convert...

Also, got some Teal gear and bought a Stone V scroll... My SCH is now a force to be reckoned with...

I love the Teal set and all, but it makes me look like a girl... D:

There's nothing girly about that outfit...

Then again, this is coming from the guy who enjoys the colour of the Aurore set. Silly men and their desire to avoid soft colours. :p

For me... it's just that the Teal set looks feminine and it's already hard to tell the difference between male and female tarus.

It could be worse. I remember doing a 12-man panty raid in the Aqueducts, and getting the subligar for the Parade Cuirass for my PLD.

While I was a frightening sight to be hold in those lacy panties (the picture of which I still have on here somewhere), the Parade Cuirass looked like someone took a leak all over my shiny Iron Musketeer armor.
