Server Warning: HERP DERPFollow

#1 May 07 2010 at 8:32 AM Rating: Excellent
I've come here to these boards to appeal to everyone. It seems that massive amounts of "HERP" and "DERP" have been detected among the server. Common symptoms involve: gimptastic gear, mental retardation, /p macros for everything, and epic amounts of fail.

Be careful when dealing with HERP DERP as it can cause the populace at large to RRRRAAAGGGGEEEEEE. If/when you run into someone suffering the symptoms of HERP DERP please follow these guidelines:

1.) Find the nearest weapon.
2.) Kindly ask the victim poor suffering soul to a quiet corner.
3.) Use egregious amounts of violence with weapon acquired in step 1.
4.) ???
5.) Profit!

Please be alert for this ever growing threat within the community and remember: If you see something, kill that something.

You act like this is a recent issue or something confined just to Lakshmi. Be a pacifist though, as physical assault is not the key!

Exactly. All problems should be solved with fire.

Personally, I'd use chocolate. It may not solve everything; but it will make them seem petty compared to taste bud nirvana.

I'd like to apologize to everyone on the server... the OP must have seen me running around on my drk.

Next time, I'll go anon as a drk/whm and cast invisible on myself whenever I leave my MH.

Problem solved!

/WHM is nothing to apologise about. /THF is. It's like admitting you can't land a WS!

For shame. -_-

Hey, my macro is simple and to the point.

Do you really want me to break out the same "yo mama" joke every time I pull a mob?

Party chat macros are retarded, period.

Sorry, but I only use voke to pull in the vast majority of cases, and I don't think having a /p line for pulling is retarded, period.

I also use a /p line for Convert due to too many complaints from party members regarding my sudden unhealthiness. If anyone doesn't like that, well, I really don't care. :D

/p macros should ONLY be used for things that might actually pertain to the party.

For example, pulling is fine in lower exp parties (I do not need to know every time someone pulls something in a merit party). A few other ones that are acceptable include converting (keep it simple like "converting now"), special status debuffs that could potentially alter gear/WS options (angon, feint, although these are not needed), or possibly if you add an occasional funny remark into a not very often used macro (no example here, but it can happen). Other than this they are just flat out annoying. Guess what Dark Knight, I dont need to know every time you use Last Resort by hearing "Cut my life in to pieces, this is my {Last Resort}". Or the tank that likes to tell everyone when hes provoking, wtf is this, you need me to know that you are doing your job? I am already assuming you are voking when you get the chance, I really dont need to know this in party chat.

I especially like the ones that do...

{Provoke}ing <monster>!
{Provoke} in 15 secs
{Provoke} in 10 secs
{Provoke} in 5 secs
{Provoke} {Ready!}
{Provoke}ing <monster>!

Also, the Grammar **** severely disapproves at {Provoke}ing. Ugh...

My BRD also has a /p line attached to Elegy (what I'm usually pulling with on BRD). Whenever I'm not the BRD, I happen to like knowing when the BRD (or anyone else for that matter) is pulling; I think this is information important enough to be broadcasted. I *especially* like knowing this in a merit party, because in case the guy is biting off more than he can chew, which is very common in merit parties, add management is generally one of my responsibilities as a mage so I'd like to know about potential trouble in advance.

In any event, anyone who finds that annoying (and if so, I've not yet met a single person who has actually spoken up about it) is free to blist me. I'm probably doing the same to you if you're being annoying enough. I did the same thing recently for a JP THF who not only had a /p line for his fuidama macro, but felt the need to include <call3> in it. Normally I wouldn't have cared, but the preservation of my eardrums deemed the blisting necessary.

Many of the people who do this do not know about the existence of /echo. If I ever encounter these folks, I will bring /echo up and suggest they incorporate it. If they shrug it off or otherwise ignore it, then they get blisted. >_>

Ohh noes, this one time in Limbus, we had a SMN who had unique multi-line /p macros for every SINGLE bloodpact on each summon. I got so tired of seeing it that I whipped up a windower macro that was 10+ lines long of just /p statements and waits for my weapon skills. And I attended on SAM...

THAT'S GENIUS! O_O

Anyway, even though I make fun of Fynlar's macros, I do have to admit I have a few of my own that are even more useless. And I completely agree with him when he says he likes to know when members of the party are pulling things. My frustration only starts rising when ranged attack users won't seperate their "/ra <t>" macros from their "I'm pulling" notifications. That's what I try to do in any party I enter into as a RNG. My parties are made annoying by me personally, I'd hate to leave that job up to macros.

If you can make a macro that gets a laugh or two, great...but the laughs don't last beyond a couple of uses of said macro. True, /p macros add a little to the game, perhaps in a pure RPing element (ex. giving the use of a spell the feel of actually using an incantation) but otherwise, they're flat out annoying.

And don't get me started on Narutard wannabe macros /raaaaaaaage.

I agree. My whole <Galka> <Air Travel Agency> macro for Savage Blade lasted about a month.

Personally, I think the most overused macro cliches are Chi Blast ones like "Hadoooken!" or "Kamehamehaaaaa!"

On a lighter note, one of my friends Verence once kicked me out of a party because I put;

"CuT mY lIfE iNtO pIeCeS! ThIs Is My <Last Resort>"

It was worth the kick just to annoy him. ^_^
