They're forcing me to be a world leader. Aliens have a vested interested in me. we need a candidate to support universal basic income, with universal healthcare, and free education. Cut the massive spending on the military budget by at least 15%, allocate funding from an automation tax instituted on every person that has lost a job to automation. Automation is wrecking jobs across the board, and will automate 50-70% of jobs in the next 20 years, and 100% of jobs after that, after the fact an AGI is invented. Help the poor out now before there is a revolution.

Why? More specifically, why that amount? Would not the you in 5 years after we performed such a cut not be able to still make the exact same demand? Kinda arbitrary.




Replace the word "automation" with things like "plows", "ovens", "aqueducts", and "the wheel". Same silly argument. And just as wrong. Anything that acts as a labor multiplier is a good thing. Period.



The best way to "help the poor" is to make them not be poor. And the best way to do that is to ensure a healthy booming economy where jobs are plentiful. And in a world where a given level of technology exists, that means using that technology to maximize the real value of labor in the workforce. Honestly, your's is a strange argument to be making (yet remarkably consistent to ones I've heard over my entire adult life) when we have pretty much record low unemployment across the board.


It's like there is no threshhold at which you'll ever say "this is enough", but rather you'll make the same arguments regardless of actual economic conditions. Interesting...

In the height of the site, I would say being "Sage" probably meant that you played it safe.

Universal healthcare will cost our government. Ergo it will cost the taxpayer. But doing nothing - continuing to let the industry run our healthcare system will only cause us to continue to see healthcare costs soar into ridiculousness, and our actual healthcare procedures driven by profit. Not only will the middle class will continue it's decline into poverty - our communities will get sicker, addictions will continue and all those data points - life expectancy, infant mortality, death by drugs/suicide, will continue to worsen.

The last financial work up I saw (pre-election interference) estimated an individual cost just under $5.00/month/person requiring an employer match of about the same.

There's no way to get out of the healthcare disaster we're in without putting up some bucks and it will be ALL tax-payers shouldering the burden, not just the rich.

The big 'but' here is if some genius is actually able to get this country's healthcare on track while also softening the fall of the health insurance industry, costs should drop dramatically and all should see less money going towards bogus healthcare.

Actually being accountable for your claims hasn't really been an issue since like ... the 50s? It was definitely gone by the 80s.
