Breaking news. Apparently a religious guy is against gay lifestyles, and the LGBT community in turn are against the preaching. Film at 11.

I heard this on the taxi ride home yesterday. At first I thought it was just a George Carlin parody so I looked it up, and apparently it wasn't. Not to be outdone, of course, from the far other side is some random blogger who says that Worley is proof that religion should be abolished altogether. Both extremes are trying to outstupid each other. The worst thing here is that it's still 76 minutes before lunch. Smiley: frown

Lunch started 50minutes ago. You know, you people in NY might not be in such a rush if you didn't start the day an hour behind.

I'm sure if there was more to do in Canada than look at moose then you'd have to rush from one activity to the other as well.

Why would I, I've already got an hour head start.

Congratulations at casually accomplishing nothing in that hour. Smiley: smile

Religious zealots and other (far) right wing nutjobs like Pastor Worley need to be told loudly and in no uncertain terms that when you hold a position of actual or perceived 'authority' (be it moral or political in nature) and people act on your words, then yes, you will indeed answer to a 'higher authority' ... ME (and YOU, the signers of this petition) and anyone else who finds it repugnant that a so-called 'man of God' could act in a clearly un-'Christian' manner.

Yeah, you circulate that petition. That'll teach 'em!

Why does anyone take that guy seriously? Even the least intelligent of our species must be able to figure out that his plan has some fatal flaws.

Meh, heard of this a few days ago (why do I get all my liberal stories from conservative sites? It's like they try to do damage control before the stories get big...). Apparently back in the 1970s this pastor said:
Quote:
“I’m God’s preacher. I just believe the book. Living in a day when, you know what, it saddens my heart to think that homosexuals can go around, bless God, and get the applause of a lot of people. Lesbians and all the rest of it? Bless God, forty years ago they’d have hung ‘em, bless God, from a white oak tree, wouldn’t they? Amen. Sure they would.”

The guy is a moron, as are the people calling to abolish religion over his comments.

I'd assume that fencing all those gay dudes together means the women would be walking knee-deep in a sea of *****. One of those lesbians trips and -- BAM!! -- instant gay-babies!

You know who actually put gays and lesbians in fenced off areas? Hitler.

There, thread Godwinned for you. Although in this case, the above observation is NOT hyperbole that falls under Godwin's law. Since Worly also wants all homosexuals to die out of the human population.

Hang on, Worley thinks that gays and lesbians will all die out and no more homosexuals will be born, if they are fenced off from the rest of the population??? I'd ask if he knows how biology works, but he obviously has no fucking clue.

Interesting seeing some of the 1968 version of "The Producers". Reminds me of how much I enjoyed the fluff that was the more recent version!

The "Keep it Gay" number from the Matthew Broderick version always makes me think of the olde days in the OOT. Smiley: frown

Huh boy. The kicker was when he rhetorically asked if she'd want all the Jews to be rounded up and put behind the fence, and she paused and looked up and to the side. She was actually considering it. Smiley: lol
