Treatment

Treatment involves extensive therapy that combines education, counseling, and behavioral exercises. Such exercises include pelvic floor muscle contraction and relaxation (Kegel exercises).

Vaginal dilation exercises are recommended using plastic dilators. This should be done under the direction of a sex therapist or other health care provider. Such therapy should involve the partner, and can gradually include more intimate contact, ultimately resulting in intercourse.

Educational resources should be provided. This includes information about sexual anatomy, physiology, the sexual response cycle, and common myths about sex.

Sounds like the prescribed treatment was at least half right.

I have to think hard to remember this place is 13+, and other people's ideas about what is appropriate for a 13 year old is not what I consider educationally appropriate for a 13 year old. Sorry if I contributed to scarring anyone.

If there are no marks, it didn't happen.

Do you think vaginismus is what used to be called 'frigid'?

I think once a woman has a couple good orgasms it will go away. If it's something a doc or other professional can provide - that's cool.

I think we have found a new BD(sm) game.

Seriously though, I suppose it would depend on what is making the muscles in the area contract. You can get continual muscle contractions elsewhere that last for years, for various reasons.
