In all honesty, the truth is just that Gbaji just isn't a very good writer. The fact that he thinks the solution to his walls of text being misunderstood is to throw another couple thousand words at the problem is testament to that. No one else* on the board (throughout its history) has the same issue with being "misinterpreted" the way he claims and, while there's probably comfort in believing yourself to be a unique martyr, at some point you need to look inward to find the problem.

*The only close example that comes to mind is Alma who also word-vomits pages of nonsense when a much tighter style would serve him better. Given Alma's liberal leanings, it's almost like there's a trend and it's not "They didn't like my politics".

Declarations seem like kind of a waste of time anyway. I mean all you really have to do is show up and start shooting stuff and everyone figures the rest out pretty quickly.

Thanks, Obama. And Bush. And, I dunno, probably others.

I don't know much about Chicago public schools, but after reading the letter I came away with the impression it was the latest in a series of bad ideas, which I assumed were coming from multiple people on both sides of the controversy.

I mean, it's Chicago after all. Smiley: rolleyes

Usually I make a remark about how the actual standard Chicago pizza is a thin crust, etc. But this past weekend we got a deep dish cheese & sausage and it was heavenly.

I don't have strong opinions about the CPS letter although I agree that the letter itself was probably inappropriate. But I live out in the 'burbs so the day to day politicking of the CPS/CTU is something I can generally keep as background noise. Anyway, that has more to do with the state budget fight than anything Trump related.

Pineapple can be good, with the proper combination of other ingredients. Not my favorite, but I wouldn't turn it away either.
Jophiel wrote:

I'm not saying it doesn't taste good. It does, at least the top portion. The three feet of dough under it is the problem. I'm saying it isn't pizza.

And on a less bored post farming and vaguely serious but equally bored note; Do you Chicagoons really list cheese as a topping? That's just weird. It's like saying "wheels" when talking about car features. "My car has wheels!" "No shit, it's a car." I mean, unless it's a specific type of cheese, like goat or something. But regular cheese?

Local politics adopting national political fights is somehow both frustrating and amusing at the same time.

Love those times where you're trying to get information on a local city counsel candidate and you're stuck reading all about how they want to have a vote affirming the cities support for abortion rights or something else pointless. You're sitting there thinking that's all well and good, but what I'm really interested in is whether or not you're for or against extending the light rail line into our neighborhood, or rezoning the area by the park to allow for denser developments to move in.

People. Smiley: oyvey

I don't know where you get your deep dish pizza from, but stop going there 'cause someone is ripping you off. You should have several inches of cheese 'n toppings.

Not really. But "sausage" by its own sounds less melodious. I hear it both ways but no one would specify "cheese" when ordering a pizza or be confused by "sausage".

Now that you mention it, it's really only "cheese & sausage". No one says "cheese & pepperoni" or "cheese & mushrooms". Huh. Don't ask me how language works.

Aren't Chicago schools just shooting ranges with blackboards, anyway?

From what I can tell from the letter, only if they get their extra funding. If not then they're just shooting ranges without blackboards. Can't imagine the parents would want that.

Also because mathy/science stuff, how Trump's marketing people were much better than Hillary's, and how that allegedly helped out a lot.

Think of all the money they could have saved by not printing 381,000 letters.

I'd be surprised if it was over a penny a sheet. So, at most, a bit under four grand in the fight for $215 million.

Gotta spend money to make money.

Pineapple and ham are a great combo when not on a pizza.

If you'd just paypal me the money of US$10,000 to buy ingredients I'll most assuredly send you US$10,000,000 worth of pizza. If it will be possible for you to assist us, we would be most grateful.

Yours truly,
