I had a tooth pulled last week. I'm currently growing more bone there to set a rod into that will eventually be the foundation for a new tooth. It's quite a process. It will likely be close to the end of the year before I have a tooth there again.

Hey, me too. I just had an implant installed in the cadaver bone that was grafted, or as Hannah calls it "zombie jaw". Now I have a weird brass cylinder in place of the tooth to keep the gum from growing over the implant site. No pain at all for me if you were concerned about that sort of thing. Also a back molar, second from the back actually.

When I was dealing with wisdom teeth I'd felt like calling an ambulance.

Painkillers were the worst part. After a couple of hours of hanging around the toilet on the verge of throwing up, choosing to get off them was a no-brainer.

You actually took the painkillers? I used wet teabags and aspirin.

Yeah me too - on the top. My dentist says that it's the hardest working tooth. Mine had been broken for awhile. I might get my new tooth in gold. It's cheaper than porcelain yet has better long-term investment potential. Looks cool too.

This recent tooth-pulling was nothing. It had had a root canal previously, so there wasn't a lot there to cause pain. I took Advil a couple times. I had my wisdom teeth pulled years ago though with just a local anesthesia (Novocain). It hurt a lot. Maybe more than having babies.

The Oral surgeon gave me teabags too. Black tea bags to soak and use like gauze. The tea supposedly has some clotting property (I never ended up using them).

What the hell kind of painkillers do you get? I must be lucky since I usually get sweet, sweet Vicodin.

When I had my wisdom teeth out, I was given a Vicodin script, which I filled, just in case, but I never used them. I just popped a couple of 500mg Acetominophen for a couple days. I don't know if my dentist is just that good, or if I just have a high pain tolerance, but it really didn't hurt that much.

All 4 of my wisdom teeth came in underneith the bone. The lower ones were actually both 3/4 of the way undernieth the part of the jaw that goes up to attach to the skull. Not only that, but apperently I have some sort of annoying genetic mutation that causes most of my teeth to have an extra root. really fun during root canals and wisdom teeth extraction by the way. When they took my wisdom teeth out, they literally had to break small portions of my jaw and the teeth themselves to get them out. I was literally out of action for about 2 weeks after, and all the pain killers they perscribed basically didn't even touch the pain for the first 3 days. So yeah, You suck.

Some people just have less issues having wisdom teeth pulled. Taking out 2 of mine took all of 2 minutes each and I had no swelling and only 2 doses of tylenol.

Mine came out pretty easily. It wad done during Christmas break from college when I was 19. Top two were fully out, straight, normal teeth. Bottom two had tilted forward almost horizontal and impacted the next teeth. The dentist took out all four at the same time to just get it over with. I was conscious during the surgery. Two two came out without me even realizing it. Bottom two required surgery and I sat there and watched the dentist bust out the drill, drill a hole in the middle of each tooth and then proceed to break the teeth into pieces and pull them out. Doctor prescribed Tylenol 3, I took one once the local anesthetic wore off and one before the first night. But after that I didn't have to take any. Pain was a bad burning sensation the first night, and after that it was just a mild discomfort.

A couple days and I was pretty much normal other than not being able to open my mouth very far because of to sutures. By New Years I was pretty much fully recovered and eating solid foods.

Had no problem with the pulling. It was the hours after when I was hungry that it really started getting to me.

Mine wasn't even that bad for that either. Had to stick to squishy foods that I didn't need my molars for, but that was only on the first day. Day 2, was good to go.

My wisdom teeth have apparently come in to my jaw quite happily, and nothing apparently needs to be done.

So basically I'm some kind of throwback to a neanderthal right?
