*cough* [rant]

Hello,

I'm new to this game (and so far i'm completely in love with it). But to bring up a counter point to this thread, there are also a lot of players with a very annoying 'superior' attitude. Now, as i said, I'm new so i won't pretend to know a lot about this game but that doesn't mean that people have to go screaming bloody murder.

I just started PTing and in my first pt I explicitly said it was my *first* party in this game, so they'd know that if i made a mistake that they could say something about it and suggest a new tactic. Well, they said something alright;

"WTF DID YOU DO!? GET THE F*** OUT OF HERE!!!111"

And i didn't even cause a wipe or anything. Hell, nobody died. I just made the mistake of missing my first SC *EVER*. Well, excuse me if i need to learn a few things before I become t3h uber like you, Mr. Superiority complex.

In short, if people would just say *politely* what i did wrong and say how I should do it next time, it would be far more effective then screaming at me because i haven't learned all ins and outs of this game. I'm sure i'll still make some stupid mistakes at lvl 40 or so... We're all Human (well, or Elvaan/Taru/Mithra/Galka :P). But unless i deliberately cause wipes, please consider that it's better to teach me how it should be done then to trample all over the thing called FUN. It's still just a game afterall.

*NOTE: In the party i described, it were only 2 people who started screaming at me. The others actualy defended me. that was probably the only thing stopping me from outright throwing this game in the trashcan and dismiss it as a n00b-infested Couter Strike clone.

[/rant]

Wow, that was a nice first post :P

All these ******* made the same mistakes when they were nooblets, I was scared when they came too.

Then again, Dunes is always like that. Get used to it.

After boiling it down for a bit, I came up with this conclusion.

Most of these players that I am seeing, get into a job without really understanding what it takes to fuel that job. And then, when they run into expenses lke up to date gear and spells, rather than stop and actually farm, craft, NM camp, whatever, for the gil they need to acquire them, they skip them, trusting that their all important in demand job will keep getting them invites (which it does sadly,) regardless of whatever crappy gear they have, or what spells they are missing.

In theory, eventually, these players will build up bad reputations, and the invites will stop. Un-huh... Look at Infamouskiller. Had the reputation for being the worst RDM on our server, if not the worst player (never actually partied with him, just what I heard over and over and over again.) If memory serves, he was in his mid 60s before he left the game. Yeah, seems like being the creme of the crap did not hurt his leveling ability at all, and unfortunately, it is not too likely to hurt the leveling ability of these players either.

Now, I fully agree with the post about how some seasoned players take on a superior attitude, and how it is better to try and show some players how they are limiting themselves and their parties by not taking their jobs seriously. Unfortunately, not all of these players give a crap about things like that. More often than not, I find them responding along the lines of "OMFG STFU! Who are you to tell me how to play?"

I guess that brings us back to square one. What to do about such players. Unfortunately, it does not look like any solution to this problem exists. Smiley: banghead

The solution is easy, what most major LS have done and left those who do random parties complaining, do 6 person set LS party, then you never run into these guys, the anon rdm who all of a sudden uses jump, or asking where is the tank and it turns out well there isnt one. I've even thought of putting JP PT ONLY in my search comment. But I think namfoodle mentioned it above, when you party with people, you are using up their time as well, be considerate of the 5 other people in your xp pt, have your gear, have your spells, play your job how it needs to played, and if you want to waste time, make sure it is only your own time that you're wasting.

And for the rdm/war, the reason I let it go, its not worth fighting about, you want to play rdm/war tank, have at it, you just wont do it with me in your party. Starting arguments in experience parties about other jobs you play is pointless. And yes I realize that at lower levels tank gear and rdm gear is about the same if you are going for defense, so the defense is probably identical, there are better uses for a rdm than as tank in my opinion though.

Well, the solution is simple, just cast Firaga and/or Freeze. No more noobs.

Oh, since we are on the rant here I would love to add this.

RDM/RNG

like who the @#%^ do these asshats think they are? I have had the displeasure of goruping with one of these indiviuals...only one in existance that I know of level 68ish...
I couldnt believe it, they would only refresh themselves and their friend (PLD tank) who they always grouped with. They wouldnt debuff becuase she said it would never stick anyway.. 0o

She also wouldnt help heal and was scared to convert mid-fight when needed most.

And they thought they were doing good dmg meleeing with their mighty /rng....I don't think they ever built up enough tp for 1 sidewinder...

Delite 68 RDM/RNG they travel with Gutseo (PLD). Guteso isn't bad at all don't get me wrong but I will never accept another invite from him. I did twice, and the second time i insisted that RDM change SJ, he said he will make her, so she went /anon and 20 mins later whipped out the bow and arrows.... /sigh

Sry strayed a bit off there, perhaps I shoulda put the last of that rant in the Bad Players Thread.

You know, this coming from a blm that DOES go AFK in a party without notice causing death and mayhem bothers me, much less talking poorly about someone who is well known on the server and well respected.

Everyone that has partied with her, myself included is truly amazed by what she does. On a side note, she had a problem with someone accessing her account and using her character for a while, so this very well might have occured during that time frame.

Whoa, I go afk without notice casuing death and mayhem? Seriously, why don't you think first. I never went AFK when we were XPing, I went AFK when we were sitting there killing flamingos waiting for our tank to show up and that was only because you told me you didnt want me nuking becuase you were skilling up. I dont even remember why I went AFK but it must have been for something and i was gone less than 5 mins. In that time you guys took off back to camp and aggroed yourselves and died. How that lies on my hands I don't know. Anyway Kahan your pretty good for a galka whm, at least someone has something nice to say eh? you shouldn't be mad at me for your XP loss considering I had no part in it.

BTW I got you mixed up with Lahan who is OoJ.

Edit: Actually, I think I did afk once without saying so to use the bathroom real quick...mid chain or just after a chain...one of the two...perhaps I should be more diligent in sayin something (I usually don't make a habit of doing that) I know I didn't cause a death though.

I am amazed too when a RDM whips out a bow and arrow and doesn't debuff. Perhaps it wasn't the real her...who knows.

lol Sorry, it was just an annoying night. We had a pretty good exp party going on and then it seemed that everyone just decided to stick their collective heads up their collective asses. I don't know what happened.

Tank was there where we where skilling up and everyone started heading back to camp, you included. We got to camp and noticed you weren't with us. No big deal. We do a call and wait for you to show back up. You hadn't given a notice of AFKism, but that in itself isn't a huge deal. I don't know who desided to pull without you there, but someone did and then the weapon that pops in the camp popped and we had a link. Again, not a huge deal that you weren't there.......yet.

Rdm sleeps the add and then the one that was pulled and told people to disengage. THF didn't disengage and kept waking the mob up who then had massive hate on the rdm. I start casting escape and rdm went down. Where you would have come in is either for the sleepga II or escape so I could heal. Then somehow, in the time it took to escape and go back to camp you had died, I still don't know how that happened. lol

I get you up and try for the redmage. I have sneak up and stoneskin and start casting R3. I get it off, but just as I do, there is a pop and sneak wears off at the same exact time, no warning, and I get agro. I make it almost all the way to the zone before I die. Eat a R1 from the rdm and call it a night. In all actuality it was the THFs fault for not disengaging, but if you were there we would have had a better chance at surviving. I just have a beef dying for stupid reasons, and what happened was the hight of stupidity.

My only request is to please, please, please, don't go afk without saying anything. Everyone was doing that this weekend or joining a party and the first sentance is "AFK 10 Minutes". Why the hell people join a party and then AFK for 10 minutes is beyond me.

Anyways, you are a good blm and I would party with you again. Take this as an apology for blaiming it all on you. It wasn't your fault that the rdm and I died, but we might not have if you were with us. See, you could have saved us, that is a compliment. Smiley: lol

As for Deltie, I am almost certain it isn't her, because the last couple of months, when she is actually on and playing, she is either leveling bard or ranger. People do have bad days, or two or three, so who knows. I will just say it does sound very uncharacteristic of her.

Yeah, no prob man...I was watching the mayhem running to the Shrine, I was still sitting medding by the flamingoes...I thought oh this is just great!

Anyway yeah, it was good then it went ******.

As for Deltie the person you describe definately isn't the one I encountered or a few others that I know.

I don't see it that way bro...I have been playing for about 15 months. I have seen good and bad players the whole time I've been here.

I see players wearing almost the same gear...only some of them are awesome and the others are marginal at best. I'm thinking its not always the gear.

I never check ppl so I'm not sure. After all this time I am more interested in fun than exp. I have been playing with a set for awhile now so I'm kinda spoiled.

I still like to get pick-up parties in the dunes with one of my mules...I still have a blast there^^

Noobs!! dont ya just love em
