Humble request...Follow

I've been lvling in the dunes recently, and I've noticed something that's progressivly worsened with each return I make. When I first started playing in March 2004, there were alot of new players in the dunes, because of the ps2 release.
The players were inexperienced, but I didn't really mind. Now when I go there I notice wars, with no sub, and rank 1 that run their mouths like they're an expert of gaming. They very rudely bark orders at me, starting as soon as they join the party. Things that are common sense, that I don't need to be told, that haven't been problems.
Example: Puller, pull quicker cuz we need chains, for high xp.
And alot of thier advice is incorrect.
Example: Rdm vokes first and when their hp gets low anyone else who's tanking should voke...
(btw, we had a pld in that pt)

Is it just me, or are the new players acting more high and mighty, and rude than before. I'm sick of these domineering, bossy, people throwing out orders, for bad advice!

I know that there's a chance that these people are return players, this is their second account, or something of that nature. But most of these players in question had no idea what they were talking about, and wouldn't listen to you, if you tried to correct them.

I know a few new players that are out there, we give them pearls, help them with SJ quests, and things like that. I try to teach them correct pt set ups, and everything. If you have people on your friend list, or in your LS could you please remind them of courteous party behavior.

Getting the dunes to be full of experts is a silly thing to hope for. I know dunes will always be full of people that have no idea how to party. But if we could cut down on the rudeness, that would be a victory in my eyes.

So I guess my humble request is, if you know/notice people doing this...please, try to suggest they cool down a little bit. It would make the world a better place.

<sorry this turned out so long, I was just frustrated after this happened so many times today ; ;>

When this happens, you disban from the party, take the outpost warp to your nation, change to your level 75 job, and run up to them with a huge *** train.

You bow politely and laugh maniacally as you warp out, leaving them to die.

That'll learn 'em! A little humility in death goes a long way to disciplining people. Do I endorse this? Heavens no... not unless it's the only way they will listen. Then by all means, have at them. <.<

I haven't been to the dunes in about a year now. Leveling up that is. What i'd like to know is who the hell told them about Raise? You go within 2 zones of Valkurm, and they spam you with /tells for raise if you are a whm main, or subbed. Whether your sub is 25 or not...

lol, we had a lvl 10-12 pt and our war died, and he said (very angrily) "What NONE of you have raise?!"

"Yes, my 11thf/5war CAN raise, but I dont wanna cuz I dont like ya! Mwhahaha"

This war would never had made it into my pt, because he joined by spaming
/say CAn i join your pt?

Big red flag >.<

I've been down there all week working on my NIN, and man...I can't take it anymore. I've put leveling DRK on hold so I can get NIN to 20 and then SAM from 9 to 20 so I never EVER have to go back there again.

If the RDM has provoke, that's a big red flag right there.

agreed, lol.

Oddly I run into this problem more with some people that are on their second and third jobs, and ought to know better. If there's anything I'm a bit tired of, it's the lvl 12 SAM who thinks his lvl 70 RNG makes him better than the less experienced players in the party. I have been running into this for a while now and am extremely sick of it. Everyone in that pt has about the same experience with the job they're playing; more time put in does not equal better and smarter. It might equal more money, but all the +stat gear in the game won't make up for a sh*t attitude toward everyone else, or contempt for a player who just hasn't had the game as long as you have.

It's an old server; there is no longer anything marvellous about being over level 60, the way it was when we were coming up. LOTS of people have high level jobs now, many have two or three. We were all new once, and technically everyone in the dunes is new at their jobs.

I personally welcome new players, and I wish there were more; I'd much rather earn the happiness of a new player when I help them out with something than play leeter-than-thou with some dude who's too above it all because of his level 60 job.

I totally agree. I've been levelling my White Mage as a sub for my Black Mage at level 36, but i just keep giving up and going back to Black Mage levelling because of the sort of parties you get there. I don't remember it being this bad levelling my Summoner or Black Mage. Furthermore i thought as a White Mage you were under such high demand in the dunes that you're destined for a good party? It seems it's having the opposite effect. I was in a party the other day where the WAR didn't know what the ability 'Provoke' did. That sent a big warning sign to me and i left the party very quickly indeed. Another i was in a party with 4 red mages and a black mage. The only way truly to level efficiently in the dunes is with power levellers these days.

Also form the stories other ls buddies, it's gotten really bad there lately.

That's why I was so shocked at the amount of jerks running amuck in the dunes. I have a few memories of my first few trips through (this is my 7th job through the dunes >.<) and a few names grace my blist because of it, but wow. This is insane. I remember being told about blm spamming. I said "Oh, oops." and fixed it. I remember rank 5 seemed like 1337 to me, and I wouldn't have questioned them, if they told me bogy was a lvl 10 solo mob.

Any guesses why there's suddenly a rush of jerks in here? My best guess is, they've been playing for months but they're to bad at their jobs to lvl it any higher than 18, so they're stuck here forever...

I'm a level 19 mnk/war at the moment (still in dunes) and all I can say is "Thank God it gets better". Those who eventually make it to the end-level Valkurm Dunes know their place and role in an EXP party and quickly put any asshats in their place.

Rdm/war, some guy told me he tanks as rdm/war all the time and gets chain 5, I added him to blist after that party before I accept invite into a party with a rdm tank. I've also seen a lot of rdm/drg, who like to go /anon so you cant tell what sub they have. (who I also blisted). As for getting through the dunes, its a painful process unless you get lucky and catch people leveling their 10th job in there with a 75 main job. Dunes should be a 1 day event if that, more like 6-8 hours really to get 10-19 or so. As for people being rude, I dont even worry about it, just say you need to go and leave, hell those people just going to disband on you the instant they level anyway, so just walk away from them.

RDM/WAR as a tank at low levels isn't THAT bad... although better suited as DD and backup voker. Gear and skill will be needed to be effective, but that goes for any oddball jobcombo.

RDM/WAR could tank at Dunes just fine. I did it when I was doing Dunes. Just wear high def items and use a shield. Use cure and Provoke to control hate.

MNK/WAR is the best Dune tanker for holding hate. They use melee damage and Boost to generate hate on top of Provoke. MNK/WAR tank at low levels can tank better than WAR or PLD.

Well it gets worse in Qufim, the Jungles etc. I have been leveling WAR as of late and have embraced the fact that I have to make my own parties if I want to get anywhere in the game as WAR. Well I hit a pont where I have to level my NIN sub to 37 I am 32, and THF to 37 also 32 ATM.

Well the last few instances I have been trying to make parties at this level, there is no one seeking or has the Altep Gate Crystal unless they are rank 5 or 6+. I have been relying on Japanese players mostly because they are usually more abundant players at this level to have Altepa Gate Crystal. Well last night I invite a few and I hate to say it but I dont really like it even though it could be a pleasent experience but the language thing is obsessively hard. So I try to show sentiment by writing "orz" every once in a while. The party was NIN WAR WHM BLM THF and we needed another support, only one seeking was rank 2, so I say what the hell I will invite her. We go to the Jungle and the BLM who was also NA just disbands and warps out I sent a few /tells and no response, so I /tell her Thank for leaving my party without saying anything. Then the RDM comes out of no where and says "Can you please not end all of your sentences with 'orz'" I explained to her why I did it, then gets lost dies, gets raised I grab a WHM and start exp. Immidietly after she gets her level demands a Warp 2, I tell the puller to puller to pull cause everyone had leveled and the WHM was 130 tnl. Once she levels I say {Disbanding Party} I was too frustrated atm. We all use our Instant Warp scrolls and she says "no Warp 2" I tell her "good luck BLMs get warp 2 at level 40" and we all warped and she stayed I dont know what happened to her, and I dont care because she is the only reason the party was over.

I couldn't agree more with any of this. I've spent the last two weeks so frustrated with parties that I've almost quit. I have three characters I'm leveling in the dunes now (5 jobs total):

Lvl 11 Galka Monk
Lvl 18 Hume Paladin
Lvl 16 Taru Thf and Drg
Lvl 13 Taru Brd

Now, I remember the Dunes was once a 2-day max event. Lately, I can barely get a level a day. My monk's party was a fairly low-rank group, and the rank 2 RDM kept spouting random facts about partying that was a) obnoxious and b) obvious and c) rest of the time, incorrect.

My drg has been in at least 6 parties and hasn't managed to keep one for more than 800xp + a death.

My paladin has the only success story and that's because we happened to get a PL after a raise, and he stuck with us through two levels (16-18).

----

Moral of the story: I find it sad that the Dunes cannot function anymore without PLing. Wars don't want to pull, BLMs refuse to backup cure, WHM WHM BLM BLM PLD PLD is an ideal setup. HELP ME....
