Boyahda Tree problem, please please readFollow

For the longest time, Boyahda Tree has been home to many campers, whether they be Joes like you and me or gilsellers. Most of the time people go after Aquarius, and if not that specific notorious monster, people go after the crabs (to spawn the NM) and spiders (for spider webs).

Now I understand that you all pay X number of dollars per month to play this game and "do what you want", but it has got to a point of utter ridiculousness and sheer poor sportsmanship. I'm not talking about the fight to camp a notorious monster, I'm talking about higher level characters farming all the spider's in Boyahda Tree. It didn't used to be that bad. I remember being able to level off spiders with my BST for a short while, but nowadays, I see at least 6 people killing spiders that aren't getting more than 25 exp per kill.

I was in a PT today in Boyahda Tree for about an hour. We fought 1 spider, and only one. The rest were being taken by several lvl 70+ characters, and a party near us was having just as much trouble finding spiders to fight. I shouted and asked to please be considerate of the levelers, with no luck. I then messaged some of the people fighting spiders one by one with absolutely no response. Some of these people MIGHT have been japanese, but several of them were clearly english players (you could tell by the search comments or their bazaar message).

I directed everyone to the exit to Boyahda Tree through the tunnel not on the map, and sure enough, there was a high level BST fighting them there too. I asked if he would move, since I had BST duo'd with him earlier, and he simply ignored me. I think I sent him a total of 7 messages over 10 minutes before I gave up. My party then decided to go to Kuftal Tunnel where we got our asses kicked by crabs for 30 minutes before my head finally exploded and I left.

All in all, 1000 exp (maaaaybe) in about 3 1/2 hours, and its all thanks to greedy ******* high level players. The sad thing is, GMs can't do **** about that, so I can't really make any kind of good argument why people should stop (to a GM).

To you all, I hope that someone out there agrees with me when I say that people need to be more aware that there are other people trying to level up. We pay our dues every month too, and we would really appreciate it if you would just be nice once in a while and let us play the game! After spending about 700k on items for my WHM, I didn't even get to use them nearly at all, so if you haven't already told, I'm a little angry about all of this :(

I understand how you feel, but there is nothing in FFXI that makes those crabs or spiders yours.

People are free to claim what mobs they want, and although its nice to leave mobs for exp parties, exp parties can also go elsewhere.

FFXI isn't a one way street.

My guess it's just that the Spider Web/Silk Thread market is big right now. There are people studying market trends to try and "get ahead" by playing the AH, and it's likely that webs are a part of this plan if that many people are in there. I wouldn't be too worried, because if there are as many people as you say farming them, the market will be saturated soon enough and they'll give up. They always do. Either due to falling prices or just insane competition. Or it could be people farming the web to craft, because they are not cheap. Or, skill up parties too. There are a *lot* of these recently...

I know that's not much consolation but right now, what can you do. I don't know how webs work (I was told two stories: A) you need to get exp from the spider to get the web and B) you don't) so maybe you could suggest Altepa as an alternate area.

Look, I never said they were mine for the taking. That's what I meant when I said:

Also, we did move to several different spots to camp spiders, then a different zone altogether!

Don't you guys understand, that this shouldn't be an issue of "Well it doesn't matter, they're not yours anyway"...it should be an issue of being a good community/server! This is why I posted in the Bismarck forum and not the general forum. Its sad that there are actually some players that are as big of douchebags as they are.

Well the only douchebag player I still know that plays is Hoodlum. Everyone else, you're all cool.

Well I'm not trying to come off as supportive of them, but neither am I condemning them. I don't like it anymore than you do when an exp area is overtaken by farmers, etc. Even CN fell prey to that a couple days ago, and yes, I was mad.

Thing is, it's true that there's little you can do, they have as much right to be there as you. Rude or not...that's life. Game or not these are real people and the world isn't full of polite people. Idealism is nice but...it's just not realistic. Just take a deep breath and move on. Maybe next time will be better. If it does persist, I'd say you have a case, and you could present it to a GM. It's unlikely they can do anything but you have to try, and make sure you make a strong case, or they won't give you anything more than a "We're currently looking into the matter."

I know you didn't.

Was just reiterating the fact since that seems what you are complaining about.

I agree it sucks when someone farming comes and nerfs your exp, but the situation is somewhat more complex then that.

They could apply the same standard to you.

Maybe it is a melee seeing up for an expensive item he needs for exp. Maybe he has found that the mobs in XXX area have the highest drop rate. He is just trying to do his best to enjoy the game he plays.

In short, I don't really disagree with you, I am just trying to stress, that community goes both ways. Just because someone is farming in your exp spot doesnt make them a greedy bastid. :)

I was killed by Aquarius because some boobers zone him D: 51DRK, all ACC+ gear... 2 hits...

But everyone is right. It's a free for all in FFXI, and all mobs are fair game to any type of PT, be it Skill ups, to EXP, to Farming.

Wait until you get 70+ and go to sky and see 75 ranger ptys killing everything. Then head to tomb and see 75 monk or blm ptys killing everything. So you get a nice 2K an hour if your in a normal pty, after lfg for 30+ hours to get that pty. This game really does need something like wow has. Or a way to reserve a camp spot, so all mobs that pop in that area are that ptys.

The point is that you don't own the mobs.

Assholes will be assholes, even after politely asking.

You have to deal with it. Sad fact of life.

You can hope, but you aren't going to be guaranteed the results you want.

there are other places in the game to level besides the cookie cutter xp camps.

bark spiders are level 60 - 63. my set party had a taru nin, with a rdm healer, so had no erase to remvoe slow, and we where afraid sickle slash would drop him like, well, a taru nin without blinks =P. so we went to quick sand caves and killed anticans. sure they where a little harder than spiders, but no competition, and no instant death move. we got great xp.

we also leveled up on gobs in movalpolos, and diremites in pso'xja. guess what, those places didn't even have other people in them little less other xp parties.

to find camps like this you can go to the bestiary here on alla, figure out what level mobs are IT to you. travel there and look for safe camps. if you do your homework you can get pickup parties to follow you.

Hmmm, easy way to solve the problem, if they want to take your monsters, well help them out, bring about 50 of the other closest monsters over for a visit, that way the high lvl doesnt have to go looking for them. Now once you've brought the other 50 monsters over to help them farm, thats a good time to escape, since you dont want to clutter their screen with extra players. I tried this once in Davoi farming orc masks, this silly guy wanted my orcs to the point he was taking from my train, well I figured one orc is as good as 50, so I brought him a lot extra the next time he was fighting one, then went back to jeuno, for some reason he moved to monastic cavern and sent me angry face tells, but I thought I was just saving him time.

my friends were right, Bismarck is full of a bunch of idiots. all i was trying to do was say "hey, let's work together a little better," and I get flamed for that, and that's complete BS.

Some of you didn't even have to post, because 1/2 of these posts are some of the douchebaggiest responses i've ever heard. seriously:

sagashe Sage & bismarckmajivo, you have some balls making posts like that. I'm not in here asking for a lecture on how it is perfectly normal for people to treat each other like ****** I'm not in here saying that they are my mobs nor am I arguing that, but you guys seriously have some hard heads! If you actually READ what i wrote, you would have seen that a lot of this crap has already been stated.

That being said, can we have a mod lock this post so it can die? I simply can't believe that all the douchebags decided to make snide comments and talk down to me, and not a one person agreed with me. It's reasons like this that this game will fail eventually.

if you want a game that hands everything to you, you might want to try WoW. in this game you have to work for your rewards. and if that means adapting to a higher volume of higher level players that want to make money, then so be it. there are mobs to xp on in the game other than crabs, spiders, and crawlers.
#17 Jun 01 2005 at 9:31 AM Rating: Good
so let me guess- you either dont farm because buying gil saves time and energy and allows people to xp freely on anything, or you only farm in a place where no one ever gets experience points right? I'm sure you're one of those people who dont do /sea on a zone before going there for xp, then act all surprised when 20 parties are already there, then proceed to notorious monster camp experience points. There's 2000-4000 people on at any time, who all pay for the game too. While it is rude to come and farm on mobs a party is ALREADY experiencing on, if you're 2nd in time, you have no reason to complain, check your zones before you go, and if you got your *** kicked by crabs in Kuftal but not on spiders, something is wrong with you.

Yo Eckko,

I was with my xp pt a month ago in the tree at the death cap room(I-11). We were pulling spiders from the tunnels just as your BST was.
Yea we didnt get a few chains because you were there but ya know what? You have that right just as much as we do regardless of lvl..Thats why we never sent you a tell to say anything.

Its a crowded game and that happens to be a hotspot. It gets really old having to listen to people whine about "The high lvl" players. How bout this..find a new spot? What do ya think?
