Congratulations ;)

That's a tough job quest, not the 'hardest' in the game, but definately one of the more time-consuming. Dragoons still take crap babe, but unfairly; it's an enjoyable job, and you'll get pretty attached to that flying gecko ;)

Look at the dragoon forums for clues on soloing if parties get snotty with you. Have fun Avilesth, and congrats on DRG. ;)

Thought DRK was the most time consuming? Who wants to sit around wacking low level mobs to death 100 times? The most annoying job quest I found to me was the SAM due to running all over the place.

Not unfairly...
Like red mage, a good chunk of dragoons suck ***. Only difference is, red mage is actually useful.

Crappy rdm mages arent useful in the least. and Sorry to say but about 75% of Rdms are just that crappy. It amazes me that at lv 60 I'll make pts and the rdm decides he only needs to refresh himself and that he MUST melee. Truely horrible. Then when you explain that their job is debuffing, refreshing, maybe even a little cure here and there they throw fits.
There is one Rdm I truely LOVED pting with. Uviteru was definately a gem of a rdm.
Sorry to hear you think drg is useless. I like to think Im fairly good at my job. Pt me with a thf and we are set to go. Dancing edge >> Skewer. {Yes,Please}.
We are very versatile. Beign able to sub whm and actually be able to healing breath 3, subbing war and playing first voke, subbing thf for those oh so nice Satas, Or subbing sam and being able to have more tp for skillchains.
And Aevilesth congrats on getting drg unlocked I hope you enjoy the job as much as I do.

:facepalms:

There are good players and bad players in every job...red mages are easy to notice because there's so much we should be doing, but there are plenty of good and bad players in all the jobs. Please back down off the Communist mages, we don't all suck ; ;.

If you find yourself with a truly poor RDM, please kick him, and let him know why you're kicking him so that he'll reform his ways and prevent RDM-bashing on all the rest of us at the higher levels.

DRG is a fun job, the one and only reason everyone bandwagons them was because of the TP change ages and ages ago. Dragoons don't suck. Honestly. They were rebalanced, not nerfed.

if red mages are communists then what mage types are facists? Congrats on Drg btw, got a friend (ragnair) lvling it and he loves it, says it's not half as bad as some people make it out to be. I might try it but im a black mage at my black heart.

Saw the DRG thread and had to come over from Bahamut >_>;

"Daahan readies wheeling thrust."
"The <i'm sorry, the high level flies in boyahda> takes 1086 points of damage!"

Eat **** ******. DRG is a very useful job, a DRG could easily break 1k on suzsaku with SA wheeling thrust.

What I don't understand is why people say DRG slows down EXP. Ever partied with a paladin? Paladin party=chain 6-7. War or Nin party=chain13.

...sigh... where do i begin? Well for 1, congrats on Drg!

i guess for 2, to be honest i'll take a rdm/whm over a whm (41+) any day, and i haven't played with a truely bad rdm for months. For those rdm's that melee, if they sub ninja you should have realised why they subbed ninja before you invited them. They obviously want to melee, although i have to agree that melee with a /whm or /blm really shouldnt with those subs.

Finally with 3... Dragoons arent really that bad of a dmg dealer. They get tp pretty fast with the jump attacks, and their damage isnt too bad either. People often forget that their wyvern deals about = to a 1 handed sword attack every 3 seconds or so too, as well as a bonus on every weaponskill (healing or dmg).

I guess it boils down to is whether or not the player knows how to play his job. I mean... Personally I would invite a rank 10 Drg over any other rank 5 melee jobs, just thinking he would probably play drg to its fullest.

Yeah, and I could quote 2000+ Sidewinders on Darters, but that's an isolated event that rarely happens.

My main concern is people think there is a specific way to play every certain job.

RDM/NIN's are fun to party with, especially if they throw a high level cure and pull hate and have to blink tank LOL.

As a DRK, a lot of drk's peterb me because they think they are the end all be all of dmg dealers, and don't cast absorb or stun or waste their mp on Black Magic spells outside of bursting (which it's so fun to MB off your own sc.)

Also, as a DRK I deal with a lot of DRG's bashing me before I even get to say Hello in a party. I get over it, and have fun with them. Usually doing Vorpal Scythe > Penta Thrust or some other SC.

My biggest problem is that people seem, especially a lot lately, that people should have fun playing this game. If someone wants to Play DRG, let them! I mean, I guess it's not to much to ask for them to focus on ACC + DMG gear, but they don't have to have the absolute best.

As long as they contribute to the party, and do a decent job doing their Profession, and doesn't do anything completely stupid, who cares? I was a 32 THF playing with a PLD that would not let our DRK/WAR first voke. I made it work. I had the same problem with a NIN at 33, and I would sata onto our secondary tank for her to cast Uts.

RDM/NIN's not only work due to Melee but the extra De-Buff's NIN have, and remember RDM's are Enhancement/Enfeeb, and those De-Buff's work great.

Also I get tired of people barking on drg because they don't enjoy it, or they don't do as much dmg as a RNG... well, next time your party needs a 6th, and only a drg is waiting... I hope you disband due to not being able to find that LEET 6th person.

Only thing I really hate about DRK is their AF is purple ><

As I've said before, I have no problem with DRG. There are a lot of DRG I consider friends on this server.

Would I party with them? Hell no. RNG and DRG don't renkei well together. We're either both openeners (Heavy Shot/Arching Arrow/Sidewinder/Slug Shot or Wheeling Thrust/Penta Thrust) Or very crappy closers. There's no really good renkei RNG and DRG can do together, just like RNG and MNK. The only reason I came into this thread in the first place was to put the person from Bahamut in his place. :)

You can probably solo the dragon at 50. Especially if you have your 2hr.

/sigh god forbid anyone actually leave a positive DRG-related thread alone or encourage a player with their new job.

DRG is a lot of fun and is certainly not useless in any EXP pt if geared correctly. I hope you enjoy it.

EDIT: didn't see Theo's post. tbh RNG does have an excuse to not wanna pt with DRG, and this is it. We don't SC well together it's as simple as that. This doesn't however make DRG any more useless than any other job, we can SC well with everyone except RNG. Although if there were more than 2 melees in pt, I'd set it up so that either the RNG or the DRG were out of the renkei and left to solo WS. Hell, make that 3rd melee a SAM and have 2 different renkei. So yeah, I see no reason why not to have RNG and DRG in the same pt, but make sure there's more options on the SC.

Half-leveled Ninjutsu magic serves absolutely no purpose outside of:
a) Farming mobs half your level
b) Self buffs: Tonko, Utsusemi

/NIN using Ninjutsu debuffs/nukes in an XP setting would be like Item menu > mezu-deppo > Drop > Do you really want to throw away 99 mezu-deppo? > Yes > You throw away 99 mezu-deppo.

I think you can at 50 ^^
If you'd like me to come along, I'd be happy to; I'll be on in the evenings this week (probably starting tomorrow night, this is hour 25 w/o sleep @.@)

I'll hang back if you want me to accompany you, I'd only serve the purpose of a safety net ^^ But I honestly think you'll be able to solo this, especially if you bring along a couple potions just in case.

Not sure if you're trying to say Ichi debuffs on a sub are worthless, but...at the level NIN get them, Ichi and Ni debuffs are entirely better than RDM enfeebles. Sure you have to recast them more often, but that allows a NIN to keep hate better.

As for sub-NIN debuffs; leave them at home and sub BLM or something if you're a RDM. NIN SJ adds nothing to a party.

My thoughts exactly. As I've stated in previous threads, I'm more than willing to turn any DRG haters out there around. 30 minutes in your PT, and I promise you'll be doin double-takes. And if you're not satisfied I will gladly leave without a negative word.

Do I really expect a response? not really....but those who have had me in their pt in the past know what I can bring to the table. So love us or hate us, just leave your negative opinions to yourself and let others make their own judgement. There are PLENTY of over-the-top DRGs on our server that work VERY hard to become the best they can be. You want a job that actually cares about their performance? pick up a drg....cept Santo, he's a noob (j/k bro) More than likely, you will be suprised with the results. What I wanna see is a nerf on TP build for Barrage the same way they did for Penta. But that's a WHOLE other topic alltogether....

So for the new DRG to the family, I welcome you with open arms and wish you the best on your endeavors. If you ever need advice, I will be MORE than willing to help you realize your FULL potential. And I'm sure just about all of my DRG brothers and sisters will be happy to do the same. And any time people give you sh*t, just remind them how much sexier our AF is :-)

edit: In the rare case someone takes me up on my challenge, I'm a 64 Drg/War

lol >.>;;;

Renkei charts are your friends.

Heavy Shot > Dragon Kick = Light

As for DRG's, I can't remember but it is either: Penta Thrust > Slug Shot = Fragmentation or: Wheeling Thrust > Slug Shot = Fragmentation. Fragmentation opens light for spinning slash (also mistral axe, heavy shot, etc but they are some what weak). 3 person level 3 light SC's are MUCH more powerful then a two person level 3 SC. On my WAR against dhalmels I was doing penta/wheeling (sorry forget ; ;) > slug > mistral axe. My mistral axe would do 500-700, while the following light SC would do 900-1000+. With a DRK closing light off a fragmentation, they can easily put up 1500+ light.

1. Please, as a plead to the citizens of Bismarck, boot any rdm that does not sub whm, blm, or smn in a normal party. Also, boot them if they are not doing their job correctly. Lastly, boot them if they bust out a sword 51+. RDM melee is among the most retarded things I have seen, and I know people with "I ride the short bus" t-shirts. I am saying this and I am elvaan, so there must be truth in it.

2. DRG CAN, again CAN, be a great DD. Only problem is, only on specific mobs. I remember inviting a drg to my pt a while back, and she had almost the best equips you could have. Decided to do WSone ---> Skewer. Only problem was, Skewer did 300 max.

3. As horrible as a drg burn pt would be, it would be damn funny to watch.

Anyone on bismark who wants help killing the dragon, I'll join up with you! I'm only 49 so I can't solo it, but I'd love to go help. When we killed the dragon last night, the record was 33 seconds. I think it can be beaten!

Any new/semi-new drgs, put your fingers in your ears and ignore the drg-bashers. Play what you enjoy, and to hell with all of em!
