OMFG, you all don't get it. We are not here to ***** and whine that we lost a mob. We are clearly stateing facts in an undesirable incident that happened to inform others how certain HNMLS's/people preform.

Kpp and I are not strangers to sky either. And when possible we do goto other HNMLS leaders in sky to collaborate on mobs. We (Kpp and I) alliance our ls's to give the our members a chance to do the fun end-game stuff without haveing to join a HNMLS, which most shutter at.

This thread just proves that most people would rather sh*t on you than help, that nice people are just "dumb" ... nice society we live in these days.

That's all I have left to say, flame away.. it's inevitable.

The "if name's yellow it's free game, and ***** common courtesy hard in the a$$" seems to be the norm, at least on this server.
I don't know if it's the server or the game, but it does feel like being in a sandbox with a bunch of spoiled brats who really want that toy truck just because you're looking at it.

As far as DIAMOND, what do you expect from a LS that advertized Hakutaku runs for their own personal profit on the main page of their web site? What would make you think they are for anything but their own personal gain?

lets talk about this.

i recently paid diamond to get my optical hat for me, why would i pay money you ask? well it is quite simple really i had 1 of 2 options. i could stand in jeuno and /sh for help for hours on end trying to get 21 competant people to kill the haku. and then get there and hope for the best because if these strangers dont perform well and wipe then i lose my eye cluster. or i could pay the gil to diamond for a guarnteed kill and not risk losing a 1.1mil optical soup.

and as far as for their own personal gain as you call it.

diamond for the past 3 weeks has put on a dynamis for free to members even outside their linkshell and as long as you are 70+ you can lot on your af for your job. now that my friend is a damn good offer. 3 weeks = 3mil gil. and so you know the hakutaku runs that they are doing, that money goes directly into the dynamis bank. now on top of the fact that i have went to all 3 of the past dynamis for free, before i even paid them to get my optical hat or even discussed it with them, i intend to do dynamis bastok and windurst with them. once those are flagged i intend to continue on to the other 2 dynamis with them, for free.

oh and by the way, i was unsuccessful in finding any well established linkshell to take me with them, not for free, and not for a price. and my social linkshell is not strong enough to take haku. ourselves.

so next time you want to run somebody through the mud please get your facts straight.

Huh? Kpp did say that Dragonice said it. I believe him. Whether you do or not is up to you.

As I said before, it's sad when people act hypocritical when the situation doesn't affect you.

No one likes to be told that "That's just the way it is." or "Stop whining because you didn't get the claim." These kinds of statements are just meant to inflame the situation.

Sure, you can behave like an *** in-game. All I'm saying is that you don't have to be that way. It's a conscious choice.

Ok, and I'm sure many people agree with this. And forgive me, as I'm using my opinion here. But when people used to send me a /tell asking for rank 5 help for 100K gil, I'd feel sorry for them not being able to find the help they needed without resorting to bribary. I would help them for free. The game sucks when you have to beg for help. It's really up to you if you want to be a mercinary for hire (Greedy) or a better part of the Vana'Diel society and help.

Many LS on the server do Hakutaku runs quite often. I'm sure some of them would want to help without thought of personal gain. In my time on FFXI I remember at least 2 times I was invited, or alerted to a upcoming Hakutaku run.

Wait, so the Dynamis is free, but the money comes from Hakutaku runs?

So then the Dynamis isn't free.

Also, dynamis takes a large amount of people. Damn strait they are going to be free for a while, otherwise, good luck getting the attendance necesary. Not to mention, dynamis (If succesful) will pay for itself in Dynamis currency.

3 months = 3,000,000 gil but I bet they keep the currency, and perhaps other drops don't they? A succesful dynamis can/will actualy make a profit.

You must have friends in DIAMOND, but if you are trying to convince me of them being anyhitng but greedy, then good luck. Your arguements just don't hold weight.

But finally, let me apologies if I'm upsetting anyone, these thoughts are nothing more than my opinion. Form your own opinions as you like. It's my belief that this game is much better when we help each other, and not focus on personal gain all the time.

they were doing free dynamis before they started doing haku runs.

yes the currency that drops goes into the dynamis currency bank but im getting my af for free so why the hell would i care that they get the currency if im just there as a tag along?.

oh and by the way what your saying is kind of like this.

this one time, this one guy offered to help me with this one coffer if he could skill up his sword. damn that greedy ******* and his selfishness. why doesnt he think about others and use his axe to make the fights faster.
-just because people like to get something in return does not make them selfish or greedy, its the way the world works.

I told him the story again. his great findings were the following:

When faced with the question : "what has my Ls ever done to you" his answer was: "I am blisting you"

2) Elfry is dishonorable, not DIAMOND.

3) oh ya, this is a game, dont go ******** blablabla

I am still a little speechless about this. I guess what hits me the most is the sheer arrogance, the lack of any kind of apology, almost like its our fault for being bloody idiots for saving their rng.

Anyways, this is the story, I'll let you draw your own conclusions about Elfry, Dragonice, Elite and the LS DIAMOND.

Wanted to point out that little part there, since you say we're dragging DIAMOND through the mud. We had problems with specific players who happened to be in DIAMOND, and while unfortunate the actions of few reflect upon the many.

How a LS runs/act or how a LS take its Moral are all depend on their leader's leading. I dont think people should point finger to "DIAMOND".

I think both LS should've /random for it since:
A) Diamond did the work, they killed Zip.
B) Renkeidorkz were ahead on Zip but they decided to help on Diamond ranger, hence they lost the claim chance. Diamond owe Renkeidorks a deed.

If both LS tried talk peacefully, this flame war wouldnt have happened. But I guess ppl were hothead.

HNM should be like this:

(HNM appears) - several LS's about

"Hey guys, you wanna random for it?"
"Sure"

(series of randoms)

"Good luck guys! If you wipe we'll just go down the list."

"Cool, sounds good."

BUT, HNM is actually sometimes like this:

(HNM appears) *** claims it ***

LSwhoclaimed: "Make sure it doesn't go unclaimed for any reason. I don't want those ***** to steal it."

LSeswhodidn'tclaim: "We'll wait for them to wipe, they suck so it shouldn't be long."

and sometimes like this:

LSwhodidn'tclaim: "They claimed it but it went white and I accidentally provoked it!"

LSwhoclaimeditfirst: "WTF! steal!?!"

LSwhonowhasclaim: "Oh ****, what do we do!?"

(in some cases the mob is given back, in others it is not and drama is created)

And then there are situations like this one. Because none of us talk and because those who've tried to talk have been screwed over too much to warrant talking anymore, we have all become heartless. The king calls us powerhouses but really it's a game of luck and latency. Sky NM's (or pop NM's mind you) are usually just farmed all at once and left for the next LS to come up. When more than one LS is farming it's every man or woman for themselves. You don't help people, you let them die and if their aggro affects you then you deal with it while keeping claim of the NM. It's hearless but it's the way we've become thanks to the history of the people now running most of the shells. In fact, it's gotten so bad that most of the time a GM is called the minute a Land HNM pops 'just in case' something happens.

Thankfully we're all still mostly civil outside of the camps and even sometimes in the camps, but the history of it all pops in at times. The gentleman thing to do in the King's situation is to help out and likewise, for Diamond to let them have claim as thanks. But as i've said, we're heartless bastards these days and the added annoyance of the might of the TOMATO is wearing us in need of Genbu Seals down to the bone.

Regardless of the if you are willing to be that heartless or not, there are other LS's that will be that heartless and that puts you at a somewhat strategical disadvantage in these situations. Renkeidorkz are good people, but a lot of us are not! It's just one of those things you get to learn to deal with. Aurora likes to think that all of our members represent our shell but a lot of shells try and take the easy way out saying they aren't responsible for their members individual actions. It's good policy but leaves a bad taste in people's mouths when they see the player with the shell on doing the same thing weeks later.

Umm no Namfoodle not every LS are like what you said.

We lost claim on Zip to Worldempire once and then gilseller trained them. We decided to give them a hand on Zip and kill all the adds for them.

There will always be competition and, yes we will take any claim if you wipe. But theres still certain degree of moral we will do or we will NOT do.

where did i say IT IS ABSOLUTELY ALWAYS LIKE THIS!

I'm merely saying that at times one must do heartless things. It isn't fun but with so many people to think of in our own LS's we must make them.

re: Hakutaku fight

i'd like to see how many pickup parties can kill Haku with 100% peace of mind. not to mention the threat of gilsellers MPKing on Haku fights. there is a reason why there are posts on server forums asking for Haku fights. there is a reason why people shout for endless hours in jeuno. even if by chance a pickup alliance makes its way to the Den, you are still not even gauranteed to "fight" it, much less kill it.

i've had countless friends tell me about their Optical hat woes. some have even been at the footsteps of the ??? waiting for their turn.. only to be denied because after 4 fights, the pickup alliance is already tired... or their friends have already gotten their hats. for a pickup alliance it can take upwards of 30mins to kill. good luck trying to get a pickup of 18 70+ willing to lend 2-4hrs for everyone.

now think about it from the point of view of the person who owns the cluster. he's spent countless hours farming it.. or spent upwards of 1mil to purchase the cluster. if you take that to a pickup alliance you have no guarantee. if you lose, you lose everything that was needed to get that cluster. if you take that to DIAMOND, if by chance we happen to lose... you'll get your money back at least.

think about what the optical hat goes for now. 1mil for cluster, 500k for fight. 1.5mil total for +10ACC +10Eva ... if the hat was not rare/ex it would easily be sold for more than 1.5mil. so it's either pay 1.5mil to get one of the best melee head armors in the game.. or wait months on end trying to get a pickup alliance.

regarding LSs for hire. this has been going on for a long long time. it's nothing new, and definitely not something only DIAMOND does for "pure greed of the LS". if you're able to get any LS to fight Haku for you for free... consider yourself very very fortunate. if the concept of paying for HNMLS services is new to you, it's only because you may be new to the endgame scene. when i was lv70, i myself took this route.. got my cluster, and paid 650k for a sure fight. 1.5mil for the Optical hat... pffft any day!!

regarding making money in dynamis:
Quote:
3 months = 3,000,000 gil but I bet they keep the currency, and perhaps other drops don't they? A succesful dynamis can/will actualy make a profit.

it costs 1mil per dynamis run. 4x month = 4mil, 3months = 12mil... not just 3mil. LSs dont hold dynamis runs to make money anyhow... they do it for the AF gear for members and to upgrade relics for a chosen member. you will hardly see LSs that hold their own dynamis events sell the currency afterwards... that'd just be a horrible way to make money. for instance, sky raids would be a better alternative.

anyways, it's time for lunch.. i'm done with /rant. like anyone, i dont like reading posts that slander the name of my LS. NMs.. whether sky or ground or sea... it's a competitive game. and anyone who's in the HNM scene on bismarck knows it's not nearly as "drama-prone" as these boards make em to be. we all respect each other's shells.. and yes we DO show common courtesy and DO get along.

I've known the popof since I was a wee level 50. He tanked my AF3 not once, but twice! He's one of the greatest helpers on the server and one heck of a guy. I'd find it exceedingly unlikely if he brought a complaint to the table of the HNM drama without good cause!

#44 May 09 2005 at 3:26 PM Rating: Decent
i met him also at level 50. i was running around by norg trying to find help wiht my first af piece. i asked him to help me kill sahigans behind the mythril door. i dont remember but i think he was level 71+. i remember word for word what he said, "im sorry firestarter but i cannot kill them fast enough." then karris, who was level 55 at the time said that hed help and we fought them for 2 hours. i did not however come to this board and talk about how much of a big meanie kingpopof was because he did not do what i wanted him to do, but instead did something else for himself.
#45 May 09 2005 at 3:41 PM Rating: Excellent
It's a hard world. Backstabbing and grabassing is how people get rich, famous, this is how people get uber. I don't think anyone could argue against that.

But does that make it justified?

Sure, if the only thing you're interested in is getting the NM, and ***** someone that tried to help you out. I think the problem here is the fact that someone who tried to be helpful got bitten in the behind, fair or not, by the group they tried to help.

There's a Native American legend that I'm sure you guys have heard before; it ends like this: "You knew I was a viper when you picked me up."

If Dorkz is guilty of anything it's not knowing they were dealing with a viper. I can relate to wanting to help another player in trouble, even if it's not necessarily in your own best interest; to a good player, someone else's HP bar is more valuable then his own.

I think the matter really falls between whether this was a setup -- if Elfry took the aggro in order to distract your LS from the NM -- or if she genuinely was in trouble, and you just missed the pop.

Only DIAMOND knows for sure. But either way you guys did the right thing, because backstabbing and grabassing might be the way to get ahead, but it's also the problem with groups of people being together.
It's a shame you guys missed the pop, and I guess if nothing else you know now. But the NMs will pop again; DIAMOND won't get a chance to take this back.

Very nicely put, Sioux. Rate up for that piece of wisdom.

At any rate I don't think Dorkz are upset about not getting the claim, but the manner in which the events went down. Sioux brings up a very valid point. Zip will pop again. And again.

Most people make mistakes in the game. It takes an honorable person to own up to them. This whole thread could have has an entirely different tone if the involved parties simply appologized for their behavior.

the entire situation had to do with elfry, but yet the post is titled "dragonice, diamond, and unhonorable behavior". now is it very honorable to try and ruin the immage of a linkshell because one person did something you didnt agree with? you didnt even mention elfry in the title of the post. why doesnt it read "bad player alert, elfry" or why didnt you add elfry to the bad player list.

every person that clicks that server forum link sees this 4 lines down, people from all worlds of FF

"Dragonice, DIAMOND, and unhonorable behavior"

that just isnt fair to diamond i have know them and they are a great group of people.

im still unclear about something if you guys were ready to fight zippy then why were you still standing there to begin with? because you know elfry could have EES barrage and sidewinder that detector before it summoned a caretaker. and then in turn he would have still went and shoadowbinded zippy because you were not ready for him. hell elfry could have died and diamond would have still came in and claimed it first if you were not ready to fight it, shadow bind does not last an eternity.

Exactly...I think Elfry could have killed that detector with one shot...
Instead he/she brought it back to Popof's camp and went ahead to shadowbind Zippy while Popof and his crew were busy killing
If elfry went onto kill detector by him/herself, and shadowbind Zippy...I think there was a chance of losing claim to Popof's crew...get what I'm trying to say?
Even if Popof's crew did not kill detector initially...there would have been added danger from it IF the RNG had zoned...(me thinks)...
The point here is that Popof's crew lost a chance at Zippy WHILE they were taking care of aggro from Elfry...
before this...there wasn't another ls there...and no reason for Popof's crew to hurry for claim

Outside of this HNM drama >.>

We all want Kalani dead but lets focus on the point of the thread.

I say that each linkshell change to level 1 jobs and start in West Ronf. and Run to Jeuno. The survivors of that should then take an airship to Bastok and travel up through Oldton and Newton and make their way to the deapest part of Gusgen Mines.

Once you are there make sure you bring pick axes. Farm up 4 gold ore then rush back to jeuno to have a gold smither make it for you. Once it is made change back into your main jobs and rush to the King Behemoth Camp.

Once at the King behemoth camp continiously /kneel and offer up the Gold Ingot to KB. When it pops make sure you stand still while it casts Meteor (I bet he won't expect that). Now the Trick it to get hit with it but survive so that you have a battle wound.

Take that fresh Scar and go to Maat. He'll be proud and award you with the quest to find the missing Rabbit Shell. This is a tough mission which Both LS's will need to work together, but who will get the Crown which drops of the final boss? you must decided now.

By the time you have finished reading and understanding the jibberish that I wrote you could have farmed 5 Zips.

This Thread has no real meaning other then lighten up, sometimes things happen.
