/sigh...LPN's these days...Follow

#1 Apr 29 2005 at 7:24 AM Rating: Good
No offence to any LPN's out there, we just got a bad one.

Went to the Dr yesterday as we are 4 weeks away from this baby coming and have weekly visits from now on.

I'm sure some of you know that we didn't want to know the sex of the baby. We had done so well and didn't know for 8 months.

Yesterday the LPN walks in to take vitals before the Dr. and says "Oh so you're having a boy then?" O.O

Wintaru: o.O
Biancataru: O.o
LPN: >_> <_< er...or I guess we're calling it "the baby?"

She then proceeded to try to cover up her mistake and failing miserably.

I comforted my crying wife while we waited for the Dr. After the visit we were able to rationalize it and be excited about it :D My parents are freaking out for sure. So after 8 months of doing so well, we know and can announce that I'm having a boy! :D

Is it just me, or would you think the LPN should know that you NEVER start a conversation with an expectant couple by announcing the sex of the baby? In the off chance that the couple may be old fashioned and may not want to know? Hell even the ultrasound tech (we had another ultrasound done to determine the size, I'll get to that in a minute) asked before measuring leg length to make sure something didn't show up that shouldn't.

On to the size, my wife is at 36 weeks, meaning she has 4 weeks to go. Our child...quite frankly...is a behemoth at 8lbs already O.O He could be larger than 10lbs if she goes to 40 weeks so he's going to check everything and if in 2 weeks all is well she will be induced so I could be a daddy very soon :D

That's all I had, a little bit of good news, a little bit of great news, and a little bit disgruntled. Carry on ^^

As long as it doesn't remotely resemble a behemoth you should be alright...

Congratz btw, and I finished that card collecting quest /happy.

Thanks. Peace.

I hope you have his first character set up for him.

Sorry to hear about the LPN, should have fed her to Guivre.

Anyways, I'm happy for you man, give the wife hugs, repaint the pink babies room, order a tiny leather motorcycle jacket and get ready for the best years of your life!!

/cheer

ROFL at the motorcycle jacket part.

My mother rides a 1976 modified Harley Sportster. Engine has been bored out for more displacement and the damn thing screams now.

I'm sure this child will have something to do with something that has 2 wheels and goes VROOOM at some point in its life :D

I'm sorry they broke the suspense for you honey ; ;

A thousand congratulations on your up-and-coming family member though :D :D

Yeah, the nurses should announce ***SPOILERS*** before they go giving out the sex of the baby though!

o.O

...Wife! Where have you been !!!!...

Ya he's gonna be a big taru, the good news about that is we get to have him sooner provided everything is good to go. I hear induced labors are faster (and more painful o.O) so we're a little nervous but right now my wife just wants this kid OUT! :D

Oh and Souix:

It's about goddammned time you made it back. Hell I'm fixing to be a dad and I still can get on once or twice a week :D Thank God one of the "old hands" of the Bismarck forum has returned, maybe you can verbally beat these %#@%# kids with the tiny e-peens back into shape.

Oh Win. Sorry and Congratulations! Give Bianca my best and don't stress too much over what happened. Every pregnancy is different. Relax and enjoy yourself now because those 2 am feedings are coming fast.

From the way it was described to me it doesn't require as much schooling as a RN (Registered Nurse).

Thanks Cat, it's getting very close now. Just today she emailed me and said she has had a contraction here and there. Castor oil anyone?

LPN is your standard 18 month course, where as a RN needs a full 4 years.

*stops, thinks* Am I really making a post about the amount of schooling required to be a nurse on the FFXI boards... man somethings going crazy round here...

Psst. RN certification only takes 2 years (if you don't include the gen ed work). Look at it this way you have: CNA > LPN > RN

Certified Nurse Assistant > Licensed > Registered

Either way, she should have been a bit more careful. Anyway, back on track:

CONGRATS!! My boyfriend's brother just had a baby in February 8lbs 9oz. She was induced as well...she was in labor for 7 hours after they broke her water, initially didnt want drugs but ended up with an epi. She had high blood pressure so the delivery was a bit difficult, but other than that it all went well. That boy ate like a 4 year old! 6oz of formula the first few weeks each feeding...it was nuts. I think he's at about 14lbs now at 3 months...maybe more, I haven't seen him for a few weeks.

Anyway tell your wife she has all our blessings. Make sure to publish pictures when it's all done. =D Since you have a sex, do you have a name?

#19 Apr 29 2005 at 3:15 PM Rating: Good
Yup, name is a secret since we know the sex now :D I can say that since he is my first born son, he'll have my first name his middle name (Joshua), it's a family tradition (I'm sure others do this too) that goes back so far we don't know when it started.

Epideral {Yes, please.} We have no illusions or ambitions about wanting to have this kid naturally, we want it as easily as possible :D

I'll get off my lazy *** and update the baby's website with ultrasound pics this weekend I hope, and again after he's born.

A piece of advice: If he starts casting Meteor, ya better zone or grab your wife, (Gather together!) and cast (Escape).

Seriously though, congratulations ^^ Joshua is a great name.
