Getting to 75 can be tough and it can be long. But it is not difficult by any means. Just play long enough, and you will get 75 (as someone said earlier).

Well, actually... I think the fact that it is not difficult at all would be a good part of my problem with it.

Of course, making it long and tedious... can be a pretty cheap way to compensate for it being rather easy...

Oh well, I don't think there's much chances of *that* getting fixed ^^;

I haven't played in months, but I've been following the updates. I didn't consider that high level folks would be upset that their levels "don't mean as much" - I have no idea what end game is like. I think this change could be a good thing, as long as you weren't close enough to a level to actually LOSE exp after the update.... My trouble with FFXI was that I really couldn't play casually - sure, it's not hard to hit 75 when you play all the time, but when you're a very casual player, you get out of practice, you don't have enough gil, no one wants to party with you etc. The original EQ went through this exact thing once, lowering the experience needed to level, and it actually got me playing that again. I'm not sure how well it'll work for FFXI, though.

I know they said they were going to be lowering the TNLs after 50. I even glanced over the stuff at Playonline's site, but this is a little extreme if you ask me. Last night when I logged out I was about 14-13K TNL now I'm 6.1K TNL. Maybe I'm just wierd when I say that I wasn't looking forward to this portion of the update.

Experience points system drop?? Past fifty's?! Word?! No lieing?! All I can say thank you...thank you. On the real though I can see the arguements you end game level guys have with this s***. Less time getting powerful may mean more cats out there no so good at thier job. I fell you there I can't lie. Yet its also kinda good for guys like me.

I play alot less than most people(like 12 hours max a week). I think its good for me. I think the whole thing about more end game people not knowing thier s*** like the back off their hands is the problem brought up at this point. Personally I don't see how your gonna be rolling in the 70s and you suck at your job.

Like someone said somewhere before there are two types of players. A) those who take the time to know thier job and do it right and B) those that level, level, and well level. I'm type A but I can't speak for others.

Well that's my input. What does my opinion matter anyway. Haven't been playing for a month anyway. Later.

I kinda' like the EXP cut. I get easily irritated partying for hours on end. It gets so repetitious and there's only so much to do to keep yourself amused at that level once your skills are capped aside from pray the next level comes sooner. So yah, needless to say, when I saw that I got a good 5k or so cut off of my TNL...I had to walk that one off >.>

I was indifferent about the tnl decrease. I'm not level 75 (only 63) so maybe I can't relate. But for myself, my goal was never to get to 75. Level 75 is an accomplishment but it's kinda like those "my son was the student of the month" bumper stickers that parents slap onto their car. Sooner or later, every parent has one of those bumper stickers.

I played this game for fun. So I don't mind the xp cut at all. I don't view it as hours "wasted" xping. Although those idiotic parties can frustrate me, those hours spent on the battle field has trained me to become a better player and more importantly gave me the opportunity to meet some quality people who I would consider friends.

On a similar note, that's why I never consider AF coffer hunts, limit breaks, and missions as time sinks or wasted time. It is during those trials and tribulations where I really found out who will always be there for me to lend a helping hand. It is during those times where I have met strangers toiling the same fate as I was. The same strangers that would later on become good friends with me.

So yeah, I don't care for the xp cut. I didn't waste my time xping for nothing. There is more to xping than "dinging." The dinging part is the icing on the cake. During those "wasted" hours of xping, I've mastered how to use my converts efficiently..... I've met all different sorts of people.... I've felt the thrill and satisfaction of constant chain 5s.... the embarassment of dispeling a bunny instead of a gob.... the twisted humor of seeing death... all these are just memories that I wouldn't considered a "waste."

Sometimes the greatest reward is not the destination but the journey.... xping... AF runs.. Genkeis.... it's all a part of a journey that has allowed me to meet quality people who make it worthwhile for me to log on to continue what I do....

I understand both sides of this argument, although I agree with the poster who mentioned that it seems like there is jealousy among the 70-75 group regarding the change. But look at it this way:

You chose to take your jobs through those tough levels.

I've been playing for a year and a half and my highest job is 49. I've seen people start 6 months after me who have a 75 already and several 60+ jobs. It's a CHOICE you make. You choose to spend your time that way.

Your level (numerically) has nothing to do with your experience with the game. Yes, there are some higher rank fights, organizational issues, etc that come with hitting higher levels...but if you're a generally intelligent person, you can figure them out without much experience under your belt.

The difference between 13k and 9k tnl is an hour of "Ctrl+A," some macros, and some party chat. I don't feel that any extra time spent after the initial hour or two in a level spread (say, time spent in a zone, with certain mobs, or certain abilities) helps me. It plateaus after a certain point and you no longer learn anything. So why drag it out?

If anything, we should be concerned with the population average on the servers. Do a /sea all 1-40 and a /sea all 40-75 one day and see where most of the players lie. We have tons of 60+ now and soon enough people are either going to quit, or sit around moping that there is nothing to do. THAT is more of a concern to me than cheapening the value of end-game. If SE is going to make getting to 75 faster, they damn well better have something great planned for the sudden influx of bored players.

That's an incredibly good point. SE said that in the update "new areas will be added in CoP areas," or something of that nature. We all assumed, "AWESOME! Sea is finally going to get gods!"

Heh, screwed again. The only thing I see introduced that's keeping higher level players interested that was introduced in this patch was the new ballista area.

Just wanted to answer the question about this graph:

http://www.playonline.com/updateus/img/050421er1gb1/img02.jpg

The exp required to reach 75 is the same as the area under the curve. So you can obviously see that the new area is significantly smaller than the previous area.
