Yeah this new xp thing is a double edged sword. Imagine how much faster ppl will become lv 75. Its going to become quite common.
I always thought of the 20k xp a lv as a way to seperate the serious players from the wannabes. Now Im fairly disappointed.
Yet Im a bit happier cause I will get lvs quivker. However I think keeping the 20k xp a lv would have been for the greater good.

I hope they dont lower it to much

I think this is BS i have spent all this time to get to my lvl working at obtaning lvl 75 for the pure joy of saying i did it without quiting or boting and out of the blue its all going to be striped away from me. So this is a way for people to stay here and get free xp? I say that SE has lost their mind, if the people cant get to 75 without you droping xp for lvl's than thats their prob. their is a reason for that. Maybe they lack ambition, or skill, but i like the idea someone had about makeing this active only after you have got a job to 75.

Guess i have but 1 choice and thats to hit 75 before the patch. Anyone know when this is going down?

I would have prefered this too, but then I thought about it and realized that then, people who have a 75 job already and decide that they want to level with people who didn't might have some problems for long term parties (particularly in a set PT setup), depending on how much less xp is needed...

bah =S

... I'm mad that I'll not get to work as hard as my lv 75 friends. I'll never feel as accomplished for getting there.

Hum, I understand the displeasure with losing the ability to attain some kind of personal glory for gaining all those exp. However, it's a game ^^ having it "stripped" from you seems a bit dramatic. If you need to spend the additional 3 hours per lvl because you have nothing else to do, that is for you to decide. I don't really have a problem with it. So much whining and crying over every little thing lol. I'm not leaving but I would love it if the whiners would XD

I have mixxed feelings on this.
Pros
quicker lvs for me.
More ppl my lv

Cons
More ppl that cant play for crap will attain lv 75
Definately doesnt show as much dedication as previous lv 75s had.
Older lv 75s work has been cheapened.
More crappy players my lv
Gil sellers at higher lvs.

Yeah ya know this is a great idea hell while we are at it lets raise the lv cap to 99 and hey remember all those merit points? Their gone oh and dont worry as soon as you hit 99 we'll give them back to u.
About the hole crappy players thing. Yeah Im not the greatest player myself but I can preform my job well enough. Im not a pld who decides well they said Sata set up so I think Il stand next to the 1st voke instead of behind the monster. Or a nin who says Hey Im a tank but I dont wanna use shehei. Im also not the Drg who says Acc gear I dont need any of that, I think I'll get all eva gear. -See thats what I mean. More ppl like this will gain lv 75

personally i like and hate the idea..

ive put alot of work into my lvl... im trying desperately to get to lvl 69 before the patch (maybe 70 and beat maat) so that ill get bumped to lvl 70 or 71 depending.. thats the highlight.. the downside is the fact its 'free' compared only to those ahead of me.. but thats no biggie

what kills me is now gilsellers will be able to lvl up easier now to >.< but i guess thats a 'meh' point cause we will be able to as well.. it delights me that when i go to lvl drk and pld i wont have such a hard miserable unintresting time doing it..

i dunno.. but as long as ppl dont 'look down' on you for having less 'experience' than them itll be fine.. but all the whiney babies "OMFG I DID THIS FOR NOTHING!?".. no you didnt do it for 'nothing'.. you did it and youve DONE it.. its in the past.. you cant change that.. you got to 75 way before alot of us.. be happy youve done that.. youve already done all the endgame stuff.. just suck it up and deal.. you arent gonna die from this..

As Nataraja would've put it, "Cherried for Truth." Like I said in the updates post, your status as a level 75 is in no way threatened. And all you'd have to do is say "I did it before the update" if you wanted to bask in that glory. If people don't believe you, well, {That's too bad.} but you'll know the truth.

I am happy about this update. I may actually be able to gain a few levels now. It took me almost a week to get 20k exp, and I don't play all that often. There's no way I'd ever get 30k and up in that amount of time. Been playing since PC release and yeah, 60 is all the farther I am. Maybe, if the exp change is significant enough, I can level up again.

I Don't really see the down side to an @$$ getting to 75 or lvling quickly. Not to mention others who are @$$hats already at 75 they have been getting to 75 already so making it quicker really doesn't change much.

As to a Status symbol realistly only newer players and those who know of you for what you have done, and you care about it. I don't really think it ever was a status symbol similar to how Rank/ZMs used to be or how PMs now are.(granted a lvl 75DRG might be a status symbol being that they are tought to be seveirly gimped)

My goal has been to get to 70 even without this, all it really does is make it quicker for me to be able to help others or progress through the storyline missions without feeling like a filler person or a 2hour only member.

I think the best thing to do is wait to see how much the exp needed to level is actually adjusted... If it's only 1-2k, then that's really no more than an hour in a moderatly decent party. If it's more than it may indeed allow bad players to level up to where they would not have been able to before, and it may make it seem like those of us moving into the endgame levels "didn't have to work so hard."

However, I see really bad players in the 60's now, and if they're in the 60's, face it, they're going to get to endgame somehow no matter what kind of exp they need... And no matter what the exp adjustment is, it's still going to be an accomplishment for me to hit it because it still takes a whole lot of time. And for those who hit 75 before this change, props to you for the dedication it took to get to it...but don't whine or feel "stripped" because the game has challenges at all times and for all players (one example, those that have been endgame for awhile did it with an economy that was much, much more forgiving than the economy ingame now, etc.) It's not worth whining about...it's a challenge and an accomplishment for everyone.

I think this EXP idea is really cool. But as stated, all of the lvl 75s work sorta got boiled down to nothing. But hey, for all us lower lvls, maybe it can help us get to 75 just a TAD bit quicker. :D

Meanwhile at Square-Enix underwater volcanic Headquarters:

Mr. Square: The end-game in Final Fantasy XI isn't awful enough yet. Lackeys, give me solutions!
Lackey 1: We could crash the servers when the land kings come into NA times.
Mr. Square: Good, good. But it does not go far enough.
Lackey 2: We could reduce the total XP that you need to reach level 75, so end-game will become even more crowded and more drama can ensue from the lack of end-game activities.
Mr. Square: Excellent! Get on it right away.
Lackey 2: Thank you Mr. Square.
Mr. Square: And Lackey 1...
Lackey 1: Yes Mr. Square?
Mr. Square: For not coming up with an excellent idea, your life is forfeit.
Lackey 1: Bu-but Mr. Square, you liked my idea!
Mr. Square: Yes, but your life is forfeit regardless.

Just wait until they make it so at every expansion, one can get the best gear of the previous expansion as a drop from some new xp zone.
Or maybe they're gonna make it so mobs in certain zones give 3 times normal xp ?
It's happenned, just not in FFXI...yet...

What scares me most is that... They started by making SMN not an "elite" job anymore... Then they're making it easier to get from 51 to 75... basically, making things easier and easier... Right now, the pace at which they make these things easier is rather slow-ish.

But who's to say it won't pick up a pace eventually ?

And then you get a game like EQ1 has become, or maybe like WoW is...

Make things too easy, and it becomes like fly-paper to idiots.

Maybe I'm worried over nothing. But then again, maybe I'm not.

Ok before the first expansion the cap was 50 and the xp was 10k. So how the hell did they to 45k, it kind of makes you wonder wtf took them so long to see they made a mistake. I would have loved to get to 75 with all the xp. I'm lvl 60 I have been playing for 5months 2-3 more months 75 would have been mine. As for the NHM and endgame ls they are the same as gil sellers to me botting and raising the prices on everything they sell making the gil a high demand. In which make gil sellers a high demand you guys should be a shamed of yourselfs.
