Well.. I finally got my little Taru whm up to 36. TIME FOR SOME TELEPORTING!!

I was So excited that I started one night shouting about free teleports. Guess what happened. I got no less then 5 MPK threats from various other WHMs saying that I deserve to die because I was cutting into their profits. I was completely shocked (but went on porting for a while) Why question to you is this. Why can't I give free ports to whom ever I want? IT isn't like there are only 5 people needing ports.. there are plenty to go around. Lighten up people....

Ha ha ha brave little Taru, don't let the ignorant get to you. I stand in Jeuno and spam free Teleports to everywhere when I get bored. (Except this one day last week I charged for Teleport to buy food for my moogle ; ;)

I get a lot of angry upset tells but you know what, it's a game. Besides no one is ever teleporting when I need one desperatly so I figure I'd help everyone else out and just Teleport them for free since no one seems to really be doing it anymore.

But it is YOUR time so if you feel the need to give away free Teleports then by all means do so with a song in your heart. Send me a /tell next time you do it and I'll come stand by you and we can Teleport-Free together everyone in Jeuno ^_^

Second thats a bunch of ******** if you wana give free ports than thats your right. next time they send you tells about MPKing you for offering free ports tell them untill they pay you bill every month for the game than they can go sit on a cactus till it comes out their mouth. Also that is a vilation of the user agreement to threaten someone for any reason.
If they can stand in jeuno and spam their /sh for ports than you can stand in jeuno and do it as well. If they tell you they will MPK you and you need to die report them to a GM. all your doing is pffering the same thing they do but for a lower price in this case free.

I want a telport please........dont care to where il juts mijin gakure on somtin ;-)

Do whatever you like. They are full of BS. They wouldn't dare MPK you. If they did. Take a screen shot and send it the GMs. MPKing will get them banned.

Then again. They will actually lose money by wasting their time to track you down and MPK you (if that's even possible). They could've made money doing teleports while you are away exping.

Next time some idiot gives you crap about free tele. DOUBLE DARE them to MPK you!! They don't have the balls. Even if they did, they won't be around the 2nd time. Man I just love idiots that puts out worthless threats.

Well since there is a shortage of porters it is a comendable effort. I have friends who port me for free but they arent always available. I would pay if there were enough porters but with this shortage I take whatever comes, Thank You.

If anyone tries to MPK you, let me know. I'll MPK them right back. >.>

Free teleports are a great thing...I remember before I had my airship pass and a WHM would give me a teleport I was one of the happiest people on the server. Especially if you give free teleports in Bastok, San d'Oria, or Windurst. One of my fondest memories (and I thought he was so cool that I chose my first job as WHM) was a Galka that gave free teleports in Bastok for a half an hour a day.

I find it funny that whms get mad at any sign of change. If someone offers free ports, they're undercutting their "fellow" white mages. If someone tries to hike the price up, they're "supporting inflation." Find an argument and stick to it, is what I think.

As for me, I spent Christmas day offering free ports in Jeuno. I had an annoying little /sh jingle "Now's the time for Christmas Cheer/For something you've been paying for all year/Free teleports have reached Jeuno's walls/Teleport Dem, Mea, and Holla...let's deck the halls/Send /t for sleigh ride."

You won't believe how many people ON CHRISTMAS sent angry messages to me for what I was doing. Someone even got into a shout argument about it, but I had about 4x as many people defending me at the time. =D

And from experience, you get MORE money offering for free than charging. People appreciate a little generosity once in awhile. Maybe the other whms should learn from it.

You know all the people who want to make a few gil for that food you expect them to have in a party? The whm who just kept you alive for the last 6k or so exp? That would be calling them dumb.



MPK threats.



Thats kind of ironic. Generosity as a profit making strategy...

Also, the reason this works is because you don't often see free ports offered. If the standard price became free, odds are good you'd start seeing fewer donations.



Now, I would assume that this is referring to those who threaten MPK, but this is some pretty harsh language that might hit some of the white mages you don't mean it to.



One of the best strategies for getting rate-ups is to b*tch about rate-downs.

Anyway, on topic, threatening MPK or b*tching out someone for doing something nice on Christmas is pretty damned low, and I'm never going to defend that. However, considering that this is how people react, people should consider that teleporting is kind of important to them, and offering it for free basically drives them to do something else. This is fine, you just have to accept that supply will be lower.



Now, one taru /shouting about free ports doesn't cause this situation. But the reason people don't do it is because they don't have incentive. We've got fewer mid-level white mages who don't have higher jobs with which they could make more money, and we've got more people who want teleports.

One thing that would step on many less toes, and I think was suggested before, is that you just invite the people looking for ports and offer it for free. Still, this is going to make things a bit slower for other whm's, and you still risk driving them out of the market, but you'll step on a lot fewer toes.

Do you want free teleports available for two hours a day, or do you want 500 or 1000 (or maybe even more?) gil teleports available 20 hours a day?
