Okay...as some of you know, I float around across various server/game forums on Allakhazam, from Everquest to Final Fantasy XI to PlanetSide. I happened upon this thread in the Seraph forum, that I felt like I should share with you all.

It is sad that something like this has happened...and I felt like I should spread word of this to the kind people here.
People on PC, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't download and run any .exe files from people on messenger, without running a virus check on it first. I myself have been the target before of a backdoor program before. It was on an emulator that I have for Playstation (one), and I thankfully managed to catch the backdoor program before it was activated and my PC turned into a spam machine.
If you want to use various third party programs, I have a few suggestions.
-If you want a FRAPS program, go to:
http://www.fraps.com/
-If you want a FFXI windower program, go to:
http://ffxi.archbell.com/index.php?page=projects&project=windower
Both of these sites offer programs that are virus/trojan free.
But how to protect you home computer?
-If you have Service Pack 2 for XP on your PC, you have a firewall that you can activate. Otherwise, go to here for a good free one:
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp
-A free antivirus program named AVG that I use at home (in addition to my paid one) is found here:
http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php
-And the best anti-spyware program available (and has the backing of "The Screen Savers", waaay back when it was GOOD) is found here (named Spybot-Search and Destroy):
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
For all of these, you do not have to pay money if you do not wish to.
Please Bismarck, take care of your computers and yourself, so hopefully what happened to Peypey won't happen to you. It sickens me that people can be so cold and heartless...but sadly enough, people like that do exist.
So please check all files before you open them.
