Carbuncle Mitts {Help me out!}Follow

#1 Mar 29 2005 at 9:25 AM Rating: Good
I was hoping to get some help attaining these things, I haven't called on the Allakazham community for help since organizing my G2 run, so I thought I would see how people here felt about lending me a hand once again ^^

Has anyone done this that could possibly give tips or lend a hand?

I have 2 members of my LS that would like it and a Bard or two that can come to provide Light Carol. The three of us all have our offering already, we just need to get a prelate key and actually fight the NM.

I hear it's quite difficult, I wouldn't mind taking others who need it but remember we have to fight it for as many times as people have offerings, so I would like to keep the number of people who need it at 5 total (so 2 open slots). That's over an hour of killing this thing (15 min repop time). I would be willing to come back and help out for others who are interested but couldn't make the first run.

I'm thinking we're going to need a few tanks, some BLMs or DRKs to stun, and I would like to have some 70+ WHM's hanging out to RIII anyone who falls helping out to minimize XP loss. Anyone interested? ^^

you really ony need one tank, maybe 2.

I dont think it is possible to stun the searing light so anyone in the room is going to have to take it.

You just want DD to take it down so it only does searing light 1 or 2 times.

In terms of strategy I recommend the following pop strategy:

#1. Clear the room, of statues and tonberry.
#2. The main tank and the popper go to the ??? everyone else stands down the hallway a bit, you should not be able to see the ???.
#3. Popper trades the item and the tank vokes it right away. It will do searing light as soon as it spawns. So by only having 2 people in the room it will minimize the number of people hit.

Mages should keep stoneskin up.

BLM's should nuke then move back to hall and only move back up again when ready to nuke.

It summons an elemental to help too, just sleep it. If you kill it he will just resummon it.

Depending on when you go i may be able to help, let me know :)

Sweet Tse, thanks man!

Well I just got word that a 75 PLD can come help so that will be a big plus. I have 2 70+ Bards confirmed to help, I'm thinking we just need some juice now to bring the sucker down.

Awsome, thanks so much!

I'll probably come up with a roster and set a date once I have a few DD's confirm.

I went through my LS and have posted to get some confirmations, if I get everyone I want we should have a pretty good bunch to come.

If you end up needing a prelate key on your run, give me a lets up and I'll gladly open the door for you. Its just gathering dust atm and i don't need it in the forseeable future, since i've already got the mitts and finished sandy 8-2. I just can't get myself to throw it away with the amount of pain it took to get one.

just trio-ed the NM last night. 75MNK/nin, 75BRD/whm, 75RDM/whm; with a high level blink tank the NM is easy, throw in a BRD's light carol it becomes VERY easy.

as someone mentioned, basic strategy is:

- keep light carol up (searing light did ~100dmg only)
- mages keep stoneskin up
- keep element slept
- hack away at NM
- make sure tank has low-tonberry hate

toughest part will be getting a prelate key if you dont have one yet. (alternatively you can try the provoke/aggro thru the door method... just have to wait for mobs on other side to get close enough)

also, try to avoid aggro once you get thru the door. before you click the door have everyone invis up, have key holder open door.. then run through and pop a prism powder (there may be pots nearby that will agro to magic).

remember... the key is a one-time use, so make sure everyone gets through the door.

I'll come and help; and hour doing this is nothing compared to the 6 or so hours that SA spent killing it. Check out my video on the StercusApperuit video forum if you'd like at: http://s3.invisionfree.com/unchainedspirits

my advice, mages keep stoneskin up all the time, i got slaughtered by his searing light, almost one hit by it with stoneskin (until i changed to my MND gear for a stronger stoneskin.)

You can't stun Searing Light, but the NM itself isnt to hard.

I heard they fixed this in one of the last patches.

As for saturday evening i may or may not be available, depending on how well our ZM run goes.

I maybe able to help. I will even get an offering for anyone else who might need a pair. Also if we go what happens if a light spirit pact drops. Lord knows i need it.
#14 Mar 30 2005 at 10:46 AM Rating: Good
I was thinking about the light spirit pacts...

Anyone know what they're going for in Jueno?

Our LS has a rule that I like, if it's total value divided by the participants is greater than 20k per person (so each person would get 20k or more) then we sell and split, otherwise it's a free lot.

I was thinking I would use those rules here as well depending on what these go for. I don't think it's that much with an alliance so I imagine we'll have a free lot for it.

To clarify, in order to avoid stepping on toes for another group planning a bunkie mitt run, we will schedule this one for 9pm central time Saturday night.

Heya Win,

Last I saw which was a few weeks ago, light pacts were 300k or so. I got one of these when we did our runs.

You really do not not an alliance. We did it with 5 and was quite simple. Yes the initial blast hurts the popper but its pretty smooth sailing after that.

I saw plenty of good advice in previous post from others.

Regarding your split idea. It makes total sense to split total drop value between all EXCEPT the Mitt reciever. The Person who gets the Mitts already got their treasure in the Mitts themselves. This assures that your other volunteers get shown a bit of appreciation. As your aware, this can be a long trip and not a very fun one at that.Hell, sometimes just getting that damn painting to operate properly can take some time. Then the Damn prelate key thing can take a while as well.

All in all, being prepared is a good idea but you wont need to have an alliance.

#16 Mar 30 2005 at 1:19 PM Rating: Good
Thanks Krack, that's a good idea.

Depending on how many go we'll split the loot from the pacts between the other people who came excluding the popper.

If we have a lot of people come we'll just have a free lot but I don't see us having a ton of people along.
#17 Mar 30 2005 at 6:23 PM Rating: Decent
I woudnl't mind splitin the loot, should be good money from a 300-500k drop
