Cheap ? No just spending ChallengedFollow

#1 Mar 20 2005 at 3:10 PM Rating: Decent
I think that sometimes people forget that FFXI is just like a real life economy. The following statements are purely opinion and will hopefully be of good use to other people at some time. If it's not I understand I just needed to voice my little old opinion. Please ignore that I am web challenged and cannot add links and fun stuff like other people /cry I just don't know how! So I apologize in advance that all this is just my chatting it up.

1. Auction House advise: I understand that you want to get rid of your items, so do I, and every other player in the game, a few things that I have found in ah that really annoy me are the following. If there is an item, that sells for 120k per stack (ex fresh mugwort windy ah) Please don't sell single pieces for 5k 120,000/12 is 10k I mean my 9 year old can do that math, why can't you ? In my own Utopia, it would be nice as a Cook & clothcrafter, when I put up my Seers +1 not to get it back because some ****** who bought it for 40k turns around & sells it for 20. How is that profit ? Do you have enough gil that you can do that and if you do <Can I have it?> Another problem I have with auction house is selling items for more than they are really worth, who started that and can we get together and PK them ???? I understand that time is limited and that you want the most gil for your time but be reasonable about it, just because I can sell ice to people in greenland, does it make it right, no my sweets it does not.

That is my only real complaint the rest I promise is only going to be nice sweet advice *sarcasm included at no additional cost*

2. Harvest, Mining, & Logging: This much is true, you can rest assured if you walk into Giddeus w/out a sickle you will see harvesting spots EVERYWHERE. I never leave my mog house w/out at least a stack of sickles, pickaxes & hatchets. No matter where I am going, if I am going to lvl I take them, going to farm they go, going to help on missions boom I take them with me. This is not always the most profitable way to make gil, but if you are headed out anyway and you see a spot, why not hit it up ? It is not time consuming and if you are already out camping an NM or doing a quest, or just out doing whatever you went to an area to do why not? And the gear goes w/ me too. It is only four pieces, so we are talking about 7 slots, and some items that u can harvest up can me worth at least 10k each! And that is just Giddeus. So give it a try, and as I have read on other posts, I give the same advise, you have to make an inital investment in order to make additional funds.

3. Ask other players to help you out. People who are true crafters and really enjoy it will talk to you when you are getting started in a new craft or new area. Ask them! If you are thinking about logging, mining or harvesting, when you see someone in the gear Talk to them. If they are rude then they probably have a reindeer up their butt, and let's be honest I might be a little rude too if I was sitting on antlers. But seriously people will help. And there are such amazing guides on here & other various sites that can Help you out. Crafters in the guild even with the language barrior can be really nice chat them up and see what they know. I talk all the time so this is never an issue for me.

4. Crafting Parties: I can't begin to tell you how fun this is, some of the greatest people I have met on the game, I met from chatting during synth parties, I know it might sound wierd but if you are crafting and people are talking /party up and talk about crafting you would be amazed what you can learn from other players about how they save gil and where they farm. Learn from other players mistakes and knowledge.

5. Do the mog house & gobbie bag quests they help with farming & synth so that you have more room. And get a mule , or two, it's not that costly it's 12.00 per year I spend more than that on coffee a month. I have a mule in Bastok & Sandy, in windy I usually just take my happy taru butt home. I rarely rarely bazaar in Jeuno, I have just not found it to be profitable for anything other than food items. Best advice anyone could have ever given me was when I was cooking up a storm trying to level up. Bazzar where there is no Auction House. Dunes is a perfect example, so much more now than a year ago because most of the players leveling there are probably leveling a new job or a sub for a different job and they know & understand how important food is. Let me tell you as a level 15 white mage starting out, I didn't realize that I could use pies & juice to help my mp and keep my party going.

6. Skill up nice & slow, take the time to research areas and see where your items will sell best at. You do not want to make an item that increasing HP, and sell it in Bastok it does not sell well there, Galka need HP like a lvl 10 blm taru needs an astral ring, it is asking for trouble. So know your market. And yes if you are selling insect fletchings it does take more time to send them to your mule, or if you have yet to get one, travel to Sandy, but it is worth it as they sell faster and usually you can break even.

I think for now this is all the motherly advice that I have. And if you are on Bismarck and want to chat send Tulip a /tell I am always happy to chat, but please do not ask the following questions or make the following statements

1. Can you Power Level me ?
Response: No thanks, how do you learn the party system if I pl you ? But I tell you what, we can go to Maze and I will go in with you, get a huge train for you to take each gobbie out while I hold hate, and if I happen to warp out I promise ahead of time it was a macro error. **** Please note I have never had anyone actually take me up on this offer

2. Can I have a free warp II ?
Response: <Hmm> I got to lvl 40, quested for a scroll, got the indigestion from eating it, and suffer always being the last person to leave a party, and you want a Warp II for free ? Sure just let me send the party invite, wait for it ok ?

3. Can I have some gil, Will dance for gil, Ect. Ect. Ect.
Response: No thanks I make my own you should too!, Dance >> I have my own /emotes & OMG I know how they work. Bleah @ asking for gil it's tacky.

Other than that CHAT CHAT CHAT Make friends they help you out in the long run.
Happy Playing to you!!
