(Edit : Title : " - it could be worse..." ... the forum gimped it :p)

These days, there are a lot of threads started by players who flame other players... There were, there are, and there will be "bad player alerts" ... But meh, let's have a look on the other (MMO)RPGs communities :

As I posted before, I run WoW as my 2nd MMORPG. I play on a FR server (No I'm not French), because my guild was on it. And, you know, seeing one, two or three "bad" players in 1 week at FFXI ... that's not so bad. On WoW I see one or two GOOD players every week... The "general" chat channel is flooded by 12-years-old kids, I can't play without it being closed.
When I want to do something that requires a PT, I form the PT. I won't join one, because of the "lotting" system ... 9/10 people are "kid-minded" and only think about themselves, so you can be sure that the mage will lot on this AGI+6 (MND)SPI+2 ring that's dropped 1/16000 only for the +2SPI ... (There are a lot of SPI+ rings, in the lowest there are lot of SPI+4 ... There aren't AGI+6 rings before Lv32, which is like Lv37 at FFXI) ... So I have to use a lotting system that acts like a "Quartemaster", as the QM I take every "rare" items and we "lot" for them at the end of the PT, depending on the class and the equip (example : the mage can't wear plate armors, so I won't let him lot on rare plate armors, and vice versa with cloth armors)... If you don't do this, you'll end the PT totally disgusted <_< ...
You can't meet one person without being flamed like hell ... YOU can't ask something, but THEY have the right to do it, if you don't listen to them you're flamed till you put him on your ignore list. That's their way of thinking ...
Today I was playing with my 2nd char, a Night Elf Hunter, and I travelled from my homeland to the homeland of humans. It's like travelling from San'Doria to Bastok. You know what ? 2/3 I meet send me /Tells "WTF are you doing there idiot noobz OMG SUCKZOR !?!" ...
A lot of people I pass on the roads throw me blind invite, I constantly receive invites of duels from people 10 lvls higher than me, and I have to ask 15 people before finding someone that would lend me 10 copper (say 100g) to buy my low-lvl craft becuase it's my 2nd char I just started, and I'm 5 mins away from the closest "farm pit" ...
Add this to the lack of fair play, the "You have X ? Oh, I have 2X, you're stupid, I'm GOD ! /// You have 2X ? Bah, this thing sucks, that's why I only have 1X, idiot !"-way of acting of the French, the major ignorance of what a party is ...
I have a huse Flist on FFXI, and a tiny Blist, on WoW I have a huge Blist and a tiny Flist ...
I hope the players on the US servers aren't like that, though I can't join one <_< ...

So, before starting to fume for 2 weeks because someone invited you in a 5-WAR made PT in the dunes, think that it hopefully happens 1/20 time, or less, not 19/20 like in the French community ^.^ !

yes, WoW seems absolutely horrible.

But accepting things just because there is worse seldom is a solution; there is always bound to be worse, somewhere.

"You've got migraine ? So what ? I broke my leg !"
Yeah, it sucks big time that you broke your leg. But it doesn't make the migraine any less painful.

You can play FF XI with a broken leg, you can't play FF XI with a migraine...

well, you can try, but then you'd have to ask the WHM not to burst Holy or Banish III, 'cause it hurts so much'...

And to add something constructive: I think only people who do really abhorrent things should be mentioned.

That's the main reason i was driven away from WoW. I thought the game itself was amazing, but the community sucks so much i couldn't bear another "stfu noob" fight over general chat wherever i went.

One of the main reasons I've stuck with FF is due to the high volume of older players.

I played Counterstrike for several years, but only on one server where 98% of the players were regulars and the clan was run by 40 year olds. They ran a tight ship, and I enjoyed myself. Recently, I tried playing on pub servers (they have since gone Source and I dont have it), and I cannot play for more than 2 min without getting disgusted.

My little brother played Ultima Online and World War II Online for several years and it seems like they were the same as FF. My brother was 13-15 at the time (frighteningly mature), but all his friends online were 30-40 year old guys.

It has spoiled me a bit though. I've gotten to the point where I am incredibly critical of people in my party. I have such a fear of an uncaring, selfish teenager that any grammar that even REMINDS me of a middle/high school kid makes me wary of that person.

In my own defense, I do recognize this discrimination and I am in several support groups to change it. =) Seriously though, I am well aware there are plenty of younger players who act more mature than many older players. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to generalize.
