Flash/Blind/KurayamiFollow

#1 Mar 11 2005 at 11:05 PM Rating: Good
This may have been covered before, but I couldn't find an answer.

It was recently stated that Flash and Blind now stack, so a Paladin can Flash the mob and the debuffer can Blind it and they both work and are active.

Does Kurayami: Ichi stack with Blind and Flash? Does it have no effect if one or both of the above is already in cast or can you have three active blinds on the mob?

Edit:

Been advised of the following:

Blind + Flash = Stack
Flash + Kurayami: Ichi = Stack
Blind + Kurayami: Ichi = Do not stack

The patch fixed the second one of those. At least that's been my experiences as I travel the world with a ninja in tow looking for Gil hidden in monsters. You can't see the mobs buffs though so it's really unknown but Kurayami inflicts the blind status effect on the mob, so it would be logical to assume that they would stack.

Kurayami and Blind do not stack. If you cast Blind after Kurayami: Ichi, your blind will have no effect and vice versa. However, if you use Kurayami: Ni after Blind, your Blind will be over-written by the Kurayami: Ni, as that is essentially Blind II.

Ah, gotta love the fact that NINs outfeeble the master enfeeblers, RDMs.

Well, I just won't party with any Ninjas and save myself the embarassment. /facepalm
Nah, I'm hoping that someday, we may actually get tier 2s out of this, you know, since that's what we DO!

I wasn't aware that Blind/Kurayami/Flash stacked at all; are you sure this is the case?

In my experience, Blind is a lot like Paralyze; it's either 1 or 0, you either are or you aren't. DoT spells, like Poison/Bio/Dia, do stack; but I think Blind is a yes or no debuff.

Some versions of Blind are *stronger* than others; Kurayami will indeed overwrite Blind, because Ninjas just think they're some kinda badasses or somethin. We can still spank em in Ballista. Maybe.

Kurayami takes effect more often than Blind also. So if your RDM throws Blind, then your NIN uses Kurayami, it may seem that the two spells are 'stacking', when one has really been overwritten by the other.

Also kick your RDM for blowing MP on Blind when you have a NIN using Kurayami. :D

um, bio and dia don't stack. You can have both of them cast on you but there is an order in which they take effect. The patch changed the way blind and kurayami works and now flash doesn't override the blind status as it's a status of it's own. Before the patch flash would cancel kurayami or blind but was an ok cast as it pretty much ensured the next few rounds of attack by a mob to miss. Now it's just awesome.

Sioux...yeah, Blind is like Paralyze...but both can be resisted or not, and can enfeeble the mob by a lot or a little. Blind lowers the mob's accuracy, and depending on your INT can lower it more or less, similar to how MND can affect how often Paralyze will proc on the mob.

So essentially if the mob has Flash+Kurayami or Flash+Blind, their accuracy will be lowered significantly. I seem to remember something to the extent of Blind lowering the mob's accuracy +/- 5%, so maybe one of the above combos would lower the mob's accuracy +/- 10% (or 2x whatever the normal Blind effect is).
