Ark Pentasphere... Ark Angels... Earrings...Follow

#1 Mar 07 2005 at 2:22 PM Rating: Decent
first off... anyone who has an Ark Pentasphere and wants to fight the Ark Angels but cannot find an alliance of high lvls should contact me because i can build an alliance pretty easy... i know many people (almost all 75s) who want to get their hands on an Earring that you can choose from after winning the battle... contanct Bronxboy or Andretti ANYTIME in game please...

secondly... if you do not have an Ark Pentasphere and want to fight the Ark Angels there is only one way to obtain the item... trade Illuminink and a Parchment to the fountain in Ro'Meave during a full moon during the game time of 0:00 through 3:00... the next full moon will occur on Wednesday March 9th starting at 3:45:36 PM EST and lasting until 10:28:48 PM EST... this is the TINY window we have to get the RARE/EX item (the only way an alliance can enter the battle)... grab one if at all interested... the more Ark Pentaspheres we have the more times we can do the battle if it is lost...

lastly... the obtainable earrings are as follows:

Bushinomimi:
(Lv.72 All Jobs STR+2 Great Katana skill +5 Parrying skill +5)

Beast Earring:
(Lv.72 All Jobs CHR+2 Evasion+5 Axe skill +5)

Abyssal Earring:
(Lv.72 All Jobs INT+2 Scythe skill +5 Dark magic skill +5)

Knight's Earring:
(Lv.72 All Jobs VIT+2 Shield skill +5 Divine magic skill +5)

Suppanomimi:
(Lv.72 All Jobs AGI+2 Enhances Dual Wield effect Sword skill +5)

let me know...

This isn't exactly a battle I'd want to do with a pickup alliance.. D: It takes incredible amounts of planning and if everybody isn't at the top of their game, the entire battle = caput.
#3 Mar 07 2005 at 2:35 PM Rating: Default
i have done TONS of planning and have some really good players looking to go... but you are right... i do not have 18 legit ppl and i might pick up a few bums along the way... if you want i can get my guys and we can meet your guys and we'll have a lot of guys... good guys...

ok well please don't take this the wrong way but having you reply to this thread in a negative way might have just swayed the decision a lvl 75 top notch player to NOT come along... i'm not tryin to be a jerk to you but please brother if you've already done this quest just leave the post alone...

hehe, this alliance battle is extremely hard. I went with my ls to this and we all failed until the last time when we almost beat it. We wiped but then had to raise I or Raise III people who wanted it. We got it down to where we had the Hume left, who were about to finish off, and the Mithra left at full hp. I think the Galka SAM is the hardest since he can summon a wyvern and does Meikyo Shisui and uses Tachi: Kasha(deadly). What most people do is bring a stack of sleeping potions and opo-opo necklace and sleep to 300% TP before going in the circle. Ninja's or Paladin's to kite are very good in this fight. We killed the Tarutaru drk who was flying first very quickly.

You offer hints of immense planning but only dangle awards you recieve when you complete this insanely tough BC. These mobs are some of the toughest in the game and will usually require:

A very solid leader

5-6 NIN Get your evasion gear / tanking gear ready also, hi-pots, and other HP items

3-4 RDM Vile Elixirs, Hi-pots, and the enfeebling gear

2-3 WHM Raise III, paralyna, Stona, and reraise III or II are an absolute must. Get ready to feel like you're in vietnam running around keeping everyone alive and handing out the drugs to keep them moving.

and a splattering of Damage Dealers and sleepers(BLM, BRD)
They need to be able to stay alive (hi-pots, and more) and dole out enough damage to keep the battle flowing. Also, sleeping potions and opo opo necklaces are a MUST for this battle. The first few minutes of this battle make or break victory.

The tougest of these mobs is the Elvaan PLD/WHM who can shield bash the world in two and spirits within for over 2000 points of damage. The Taru goes down fast but can really ***** the whole alliance over if he catches the WHM in petrifyga. The opening of this battle usually determines victory. Take the Mithra and the Taru down fast and take it slow and steady with the rest. The Mithra charms one of the PC's; if she charms a strong DD you could be screwed with a slow reaction to sleep. The Galka's (SAM/DRG) AOE stuns you and does a fair bit of damage and the Hume's 2 hours (WAR/NIN) could wipe your alliance out on the very verge of victory (as mobs with Meijin Gaikure will stay alive after two houring).

This is probably something that could be limped through with a group of 18 determined players. The best setups are going to be with a linkshell of players who are experienced with each other's strengths and weaknesses. You need players who can think on their feet and adapt to situations that are going badly as well as players who can take their own initiative and not flip out when a wipe occurs.

Everyone participating should research this battle as best they can. This website has a decent thread about it as well as many LS websites who have tried it.

This is very basic strategy but i'm sure you can figure out the rest (kite and gravity!). Good luck and have fun!

All our WHM have R3 now. Yay!

Also, we got a Shining Cloth off of our 4th Kirin and I was awarded with a Noble's Tunic. Yay me! Yay Aurora.

Anyway, I think there is stuff I am forgetting about the strat for that fight. But i'm sure you guys can figure it out. Preparation and research is the key! It'd be nice if you could Zerg this BC but so many things in this game restrict you to a certain amount of people so you have to end up being selective.

One thing is for sure. For the first few runs make sure your xp buffer is up to snuff. You'll be eating R1's for speed if things are looking good and you die.

Ark Angel TT: Black Mage/Dark Knight

Goes down fast, but can completely end your run if he casts petrifyga. Can use basically all the spells, can teleport, uses blood weapon and manafont. Should die within the first 30-45 seconds of the battle. Make all the DD go after him at first off to the right of the area.

Ark Angel MR: Beastmaster/Thief

Uses axe weapon skills. Hits moderately hard, has high evasion, has a pet (pet can be slept, and should be slept until MR is down.) Fairly easy to debuff. AoE paralyze/petrify attack, fairly moderate AoE range. Uses Familiar and Perfect Dodge. Sleep the charmed person and continue killing MR off to the left of the arena, then kill the pet when she's down.

Ark Angel GK: Samurai/Dragoon

Pain. In. The. ***. Spams Meikyo Shisui like nobody's business. Uses Call Wyvern. Wyvern can be slept. GK can use Dragonfall which deals high damage and binds in a large area of effect. Gravity is a necessity when kiting.

Ark Angel EV: Paladin/White Mage

Bigger pain in the ***. Shield Bash stuns for an ungodly amount of time, removes hate from the target, and deals high damage. Can use Banishga III, along with all the healing spells. Uses Benediction (generally followed by Spirits Within) and Invincible. Again, gravity is needed when kiting.

Ark Angel HM: Ninja/Warrior

Uses all the conventional ninjutsu. USE DIAGA BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO GRAVITY HM. Spams Mighty Strikes like nobody's business, hits hard, at half life does Mijin Gakure which will most likely kill anybody within range, and just all around isn't fun.

EVERYBODY needs a fair supply of potions, at least six yagudo drinks, (everybody with MP, that is. Red Mages can't be relied upon for refresh this fight. They have too many other things to do.) an opo opo necklace for those using weapon skills, a large supply of sleeping potions, and, very very important, a reraiser and/or a hi-reraiser. If you're covered with your own reraise for at least one death, it's one death the white mage doesn't have to go away from healing everybody to take care of.

This is just a vague strategy, as I can't be ***** to write out the entire thing that Aurora did, and this is more of an "I need to stay awake" thing than anything. But eh, felt the need.

I heard an alliance of 18 blms with thundaga 3 casting at the same time at the begining of the battle is enough to take all 5 AA downs lol.

It does in fact work, I have a video of 15 BLM (from our server, even) doing it and completing it. So yes, 17 BLM could do it.

for the elvaan, you wanna wait till she benedictions then blow everything you have. When we got to this point i did the following to make her spirits within crappy. Asuran fists > icarus wing > asuran fists > hundred fists > asuran fists, so on, so forth.

It still slightly annoys me that this incredibly tough BC which requires the cooperation of both mages and melee have nearly completely melee-oriented rewards.

Don't get me wrong. The Abyssal earring can be quite excellent for blms, and the Knight's earring *may* be useful for whms, but comparing how useful all of these earrings are for melees and how useful they are for mages leaves.....something of a gap.

I'm all for melees getting awesome stuff. Lord knows a lot of the classes get the shaft, even when they are awesome, by pts who are more interested in casters, but for such a difficult BC you'd think the rewards would be a bit more even.

Just my 2 gil.
