I would like to share a story with you all that happened last night, because it reminded me of why i still play this game and what fun i can have with it. It's simply because of the fun and excitment i seem to bring in my wake, but i shall explain more. :P

So last night i hit 40 with my PLD (yay) and since there are 3 40+ pld's in my shell (Teets, Anala, and Pelerin to be percise) i asked for help seeing as, hey, i can get honor sword now!

At the time Teets was pl'ing one of Anala's lower jobs out of boredom, so it was just me and Pelerin going on this adventure. So I activate the quest and off we go into a adventure i won't soon forget.

So we get to Ordelle's Cave and everything is going smoothly. We do a /sea just to be sure there are toms here and hell hasn't frozen over, and sure enough there are. I told Pelerin "We should camp stroper a little later :P" just joking around; that joke will come into play later. Anyhow so we get to Polevik's spawn, i spawn it, and thus the fight begins.

I went /WHM just in case, and boy did we need it. Polevik hits hard yet slow, but the problem i soon noticed is that us pld's, even at level 62 (pele's level), don't do much damage to this thing. I'm not sure about Pele, but i was doing 0-2 damage with my sword, and the dumb thing kept casting stoneskin. So the battle is going slowly, we are starting to doubt that we can do this, then THIS happens;

Pelerin uses Provoke on the Polevik.
Kamakaze misses the Polevik.
The Polevik misses Pelerin.
Kamakaze uses Divine Seal.
Kamakaze starts casting Cure III on Pelerin.
Kamakaze hits Polevik for 3 damage. (WOOT!)
The Polevik hits Kamakaze for 195 damage. (NOT WOOT!)
The Polevik starts casting Stonega II. (Awwww hell...)
Kamakaze casts Cure III.
Pelerin recovers 356 HP.
The Polevik casts Stonega II.
Kamakaze takes 267 points of damage.
Kamakaze was defeated by Polevik.

Needless to say, we did not expect that to happen. So now pele starts running for his life to the closest zone, the closest zone being the one that goes right through the stroper chyme spawn.

Now, we figured that as soon as pele zoned Polevik would be depopped and we could go try again; We were WRONG. What ended up happening is Polevik decides that it wants to camp stroper too, except he wants to use MPK tactics. So he gets to the toms, they /panic, and he proceeds to beat Tomee into a bloody pulp. At this point i was raised but still waiting at the polevik spawn, so i only heard pele's remdition of the story. "Oh god they're screaming for help." "Tomee is DOWN." How could this get any more fun you ask?

"I'm the (Paladin), hate me Stroper Chyme. <call14>"

In all the madness that was going on chyme did indeed pop. At this point i had sneak+invised myself and was on my way to chyme spawns to see what the hell was going on and record it. At this moment in time we ALSO had Teets, Anala (as her MNK), and Laquatas on the way to help us kill Polevik. Pelerin killed his stroper and sadly, no ring.

So now i've dropped down the hole, and am running up those horrid stairs trying to get to the chyme spawn to see the madness. When i get there i am dissapointed because i see neither Pelerin, Polevik, or the Toms. What i do see however fills me with adrenaline.

"Kamakaze casts Flash on the Stroper Chyme."

Now, there is a SLIGHT problem with this. 1) I'm alone at the moment and have no idea what's going on. 2) I'm level 40, and the chyme HURTS. So i tell everyone and they tell me to go south. At this point i'm running for my life and has no idea which way is which so i go down the stairs and over the little cliff into goliath beetle aggro.

I went north, oops.

So now all hell is breaking loose. I'm kiting stroper, Pelerin is yelling at me to stop moving to which i reply "IF I STOP MOVING I DIE" and the reinforcements are looking for us having no idea where we are. Thankfully at around 100 hp Pelerin gets there and saves my ***. Yet again, no ring. Oh well, can't hope for miracles.

Flash forward a bit and laq and ana get to the stroper chyme, to which Polevik says "Hello!" with about four crits into Ana's face. Ana is down, we're going WTF, and Laquatus is stuck trying to solo polevik.

This won't end well.

So me and Pelerin run our ASSES off to try to help them, the whole time of which laquatus is yelling "HURRY I'M GOING TO DIE." IF WE COULD RUN FASTER WE WOULD BE THERE ALREADY. (<3 Laq) So after a VERY long walk we finally get to polevik yay.

...and 3 gobbys aggro me.

fsking gobs.

So now I am running for my life, much like Pelerin was doing with the first time around. All the toms just have an expression equalling "wtf mate?" and i am laughing my *** off. So i'm running, running, almost to zone.

"Polevik is dead, bring the gobs back kama!"

Thank you god.

So now i'm running back AGAIN (my fingers were tired after all this) and i finally get back to them. They kill the gobs and all is well with the world. WE raise ana, heal up a little, and head back to Polevik's spawn to see if we need to fight him again because i died and stuff. So we get back to the Stalagmite and proceed to heal, you know, jic.

So we're healed, we're ready for a good old fashioned fight, i press the stalagmite and...

"Kamakaze obtains key item: Whetstone."

Oh well, i kinda wanted to fight him again.

So now we are all sleepy, so we escape, they go to bed, and i head to sandy to get my honor sword.

So, what was the moral of this story?

If i need help with something, (Help Me Out!), because i assure you you're in for an adventure.

... and maybe some accidental gilseller murdering.

EDIT: Oh yeah, i forgot to mention, the Tom's called a GM on Pelerin for MPK Training. We were found innocent because it was just an accident. The system works! (i guess.)

Im always down with stories that have gil sellers dying it them.

The dirt didn't taste very good. I'm just glad I have a husband with Raise III ^^ ( <3 you Laq ^^)

That entire night was hilarious. /cheer Polevik. I went to sleep with dreams of "Tomee is DOWN!" running through them. :D
/cheer Polevik, even if I did die from it. Poor 52 monk can't take a hit. Meow.

I am glad we ended up catching up with Polevik and kill it before it could wreak any more havoc through the caves ;)

I remember killing it in 30 seconds when my LS helped me with Af1... {Hmmm.}

yay! tomee got killed :D me and a friend camped the stroper for 3 hours straight and did'nt get it once cause of tomee and his acomplice windfod(whom stole it off me somehow when i voked it a full second ahead of him XD)something similar to your story happened when i got my sword too.. cept my lv 70 pld ls leader saved mine and two friends asses @.@
