Tactician Magician's Gear - QuestionFollow

I recently purchased:

Tactician Magician's Coat +1 and Tactician Magician's Wand +2

In addition to the mods on these items they have a little bonus.

The coat +1 gives +18MP while in areas under nation's control.
The Wand +2 gives +20MP while in areas outside nation's control.

Pretty simple, so basically I should have a minimum MP boost of 18, right?

Wrong. I get neither of these boosts regardless of the area I am in and who controls it.

Can anyone shed some light on this? The only thing I can see and it's a shot in the dark, is that the gear must all be the same level (ie. both +1 or both +2) or this mod is latent and requires some form of activation. I'm completely stumped.

First person to solve this gets to call me "noob" forever.

Are you wearing them both at the same time? :o

Not exactly, I have the coat on as my main armor, and macro a wand for sword swap when casting.

I did however notice that while wearing only the coat, I still did not get the bonus. At the time I was in West Ronfaure. I'm pretty sure it was under San d'Orian control. :)

Hmm. Try wearing it in some of the higher level areas. Ronfaure is default San controlled, as is Saruta for Windurst, and Gustaberg for Bastok. Maybe that has something to do with it. Maybe it won't take effect in areas that are, by default, always in control by said nation

I had a similar problem like this before with a greatsword that gave some kind of status boost if I was inside or outside San d'Orian control. Can't remember which now. All I know is, there was no boost that I saw.

When I first noticed the lack of mp boost, I had just bought the gear before getting a party in Gustav. I had both pieces equipped at the same time. I believe Bastok was in control, so by my reckoning the wand's +20 mp should have kicked in. No dice.

So perhaps Alauce, you may have something in only being able to wear one piece at a time and not being in one of the default zones. I think I'll experiment a little tonight and post back if a light bulb turns on.

Thanks for the input.

I just want to point out Ronfaure Gustaberg and Saruta are NOT controlled by their respective nations by default. It is possible for Sandoria to control Gustaberg or Saruta. Same for the other two. It just never happens because generally people level their first job outside their starting town and generally people leveling a new level 1 job will do so back at their home town. It would take a lot of cooperation, a huge amount, but you can control another nations starting area.

That's all, I have no idea why you're not getting your extra MP ^^;

I've had a similar problem with my Tactician Magician's Espadon +1. Sometimes when I put it on in Jeuno, the +18 HP it gives me in areas outside San d'Orian control show up right away. Other times it doesn't. Most of the time the HP shows up when I travel through non Sandy controlled areas... sometimes it doesn't. I've even had the +18 HP activate... in the middle of South San d'Oria >_>

I THINK the bonus doesn't apply if the region is currently under beastman control, but I'm not sure. Still, its had enough glitches that I think it may be a problem with the game.

So the difference-maker for the +1 is broken? Kind of makes you wonder why it's only like 4 gil more the +1 version. And yes, I realize it's not an HQ.

Well it looks like no one has brought this up, so here goes.

Signet. I have a few pieces that have "under control of.." effects. They only kick in when I have signet on.

ronfaure gausta and strata arent default, its just that its kinda almost impossible for another nation to win them.
Ive had latent in nation under , not under control problems.
Its just a server side problem something that SE must not know about yet and has to fix.

damn you beat me to it...someone in my LS had a few items like this, and couldnt get them to activate. He asked a GM about it, and he told him you had to have the signet on.
