Mithkabob MarketingFollow

The following excerpt was taken from the Sunday edition of the Vana'diel Times:

As we have all seen in a recent update, the effects and synth results of Meat Mithkabobs have been greatly diminished (or 'nerfed' as the more net-savvy players like to say).

This change was brought about by SE in hopes of encouraging players to experiment with different foods for different situations.

While this has worked out for the better for some of us, the same cannot be said for the recently merged Oldton Movalpolos Guild and Windurtian Tea Foods (now known collectively as OMGWTF), now the primary manufacturer of these Meat Mithkabobs. Millions of gil has been lost and Meat Mithkabob stock has hit an all-time low on the market.

In hopes of revitalizing sales, OMGWTF executives have hired a new spokesman and devised a new ad campaign targeted at younger adventurers.

The following add will be running in next month's issue of Rolling Stonega Magazine:

Lol man, I don't even remember...

I took the pic a loooong time ago, when I was still new and would take a screenshot of anyone in AF, cuz I really hadn't seen many people in AF before.

The picture just fit though, since the THF was kinda looking in Randy Savage's direction anyway ^^.

Very funny!

And sad, as well. I spent a month leveling up my cooking skillz so that I could make mithkabobs and start turning a profit. After dumping 500k into getting my it up to 41, I come to find out that in the update a week before my skill got to a decent level, the fooking synth rate had been dropped from 12 to 6! Goddamn SE!!! All that hard work and gil down the drain! I want my gil back...

Sadly, that was the best money maker for of any of the food items. Now I can make more money pharming the ingrediants :( Oh well, time to try my hand at Weaving....

The thing is.. you are getting exactly half the result as before and a stack is selling (last time I checked) for exactly double of the previous price.

Meaning that the only difference in price for the cook is: the extra fire crystal.

Before the patch, the kabobs were selling for roughly the price of the ingredients, sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less.

The reason why there were so much on the market wasn't because they were such a great money maker... it was because people were skilling up on them (or trying to HQ them) and were getting huge quantities from doing that.
kinda like sweet rice cake: the price people pay for them is ridiculous compared to the price of the ingredients, hence, they are only on sale when someone is skilling up on them.

The price difference isn't the problem. You used to be able to get about 3k for a stack of mithkabobs. That's 36k off of 1 set of ingrediants. Now you get 5k for 1 stack, and that's 30k off one set of ingrediants. The problem is that the ingrediants haven't gone down in price quite yet, and the money can't be made up without wasting hours pharming.

I don't know where/which days you bought yours, but I always saw them go for 2k-2.5k. Which is why even as a 49 cook, I never made those except as requests from friends who had the ingredients.
