Anyone who plays on PS2 every had the "Cannot locate HDD" message? If so, can anything be done about it or is it basically fried?

Personally, no I have never had a problem with my HDD. However, you may find your answer at the link to Playtstation's HDD message board. Hope this helps.

Back in August of last year I went on vacation for a week...when I got back in town I flipped on my PS2 and started the usual routine of getting into the game...only I had one problem...my HDD didn't show up as being attached...so I thought "hmm weird"...restarted my system and same thing...I even disconnected and reconnected the HDD...still nothing....somehow it was fried...had to suck it up and buy a new one;;.....and reinstalling/updating everything NOW would take unGodly amounts of time...

pray...

just...PRAY...haha

I've seen this happen before, and the only way to fix it was to reformat the HDD with the disk that came with it. You'll lose all your map markers and stuff, and you'll have to reinstall every expansion, but it's worth a shot.

Yeah I had a friend with a PS2 do this. Sounds like you have data leakage. Gotta reinstall FFXI and COP. Sucky thing is, all your personal settings, Map Markers, and all your Macros are stored on the HDD...

Have fun with that!

AND if reinstall dont work then yah its fried!
