I called it bad luck when it took me 2 weeks and 2 de-lvls to get skull. I called it bad luck when it took me another 2 weeks to get to lv 20. I called it bad luck when it took me 3 weeks to get enough fame for Utsu. I called it bad luck when my ENTIRE LINKSHELL quit the game in the same week. I called it bad luck when I would go 6+hours without an invite, dispite having great gear and an almost untarnished reputation. I called it bad luck when my TH&TH2 were broken and I got better drops playing other jobs. I called it bad luck when all my friends passed me by 10 levels and never pt'd with me again. I called it bad luck when it took me a month to get from 45-50. I called it bad luck when I've been lv 50 for a week and can't get any G1 help. I called it bad luck when I became the TH2 ***** in a g1 party to get paper and de-lvd to 49 (without getting paper.) I called it bad luck when I camped every NM I need an item from to have it stolen by gilsellers repeatedly or never get a drop. I called it bad luck when everytime I had enough gil for a rare item the price jumped by 200k.

Well this is the last straw. As of Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 1:48am pst I am 0/13 on Promyvion-Holla.

I called in sick to work, and cancelled a date with someone that I rarely get to see yesterday. I also ditched out on a family reunion today. I stayed up until 5am and woke up at 10am every day. I have spent 246k and aproxomitely 20 hours of my life trying to kill the Wreaker in Spire of Holla.

246,000 gil? How did Nemika manage to spend that? Let me show you:

Poison potion - 16k a stack
Holy water - 8k a stack
X-Potion - 3k each
Au lait - 800gil to 1.4k each
Jack o' Lantern - 3.5k each (for climbing the spire)
Bubble Chocolate - 1.2k a stack (for the boss fight)
Juji Shuriken - 20k a stack (for keeping hate)
Shihei - 9k a stack
Other various ninja tools - 3k - 20k a stack (For keeping hate)
Anima - 2k each time I traded recollections to the npc
Paying for tele's for a full pt when we didn't have a whm that could tele - 3k (because I'm nice like that)

Multiply that by how many times I made a promy run this weekend. I'm not even mentioning the cost of the lv30 +30eva +20parry gear that I had to outfit my nin with.

When I logged tonight, I had 2,116 gil to my name and nothing up for auction. I don't have any crafting leveled past 10 and farming would take me at least a week to get all that gil back. I can't garden because I don't have enough time to play so my plants always die.

It's not bad luck. As many of you who know me ingame have heard me say by now, this game hates me.

As many of you may know by now, Control just quit the game and gave away all his gear. He tried to trade me his lv75 blm equip before he started shouting, but my inventory was full. (More bad luck) I don't want to become like him.

So with that, Nemika is taking a break from doing anything quest/exp related. If you see me ingame (which will be very rarely for a while,) I will just be chatting with my friends or attempting to farm. See you all in a month or so.

I hear you hun, and I know it can be frustrating. I lost to Maat 10 times, I know others who've gone for more. Nights lost out to Holla as many times as you have, and I remember how down-trodden he was.

I think an uber break is definitely what you need, and if you want any company farming, I'll be happy to help you beat the living bejeezus outta monsters.

Super *Hugglez* I've been hearin' 'bout the Holla blues from Daneb, and I remember losing out to Holla when I retried it for others. By the way, if you need meh, Drks aren't too loved there, but I'll be happy to help whenever.

Stay strong, and I'm sure the bad luck streak will end, and you'll be a proud Lufaise Meadows owner soon enough.

Yeah, Daneb has been a real buddy through all this. Done it I think 6 times with him now. The two of us have that place memorized.

Thanks Mer. I do need a break. So I shall take one.

0/13 ouch >.<

I went 0/12 on Fenrir...so I know how bad luck streaks hurt. Good luck on your farming. As for the paper, I've helped people get the paper before just by myself, so if you see me, and I ain't in a party, ask away.

I'd come with ya, Dorkz have these runs down pat now.

I have a RNG or SMN I can bring, I usually will have time on the weekends although lately we're a bit busy, but by the time you're ready to try again I should have some free time. Hit me up when you see me in game and I'll help you out.

Good idea, and I'm glad to see you're not packing it in just because of a bad-luck streak.

When I started to feel the burn-out coming in December, I packed it all in and took a break. Admittedly, I did it by starting the Lu's quest, but it was nice to spend some time in Rabao, not hearing all the shouts for ZMs, PMs, and god knows what else, and just not worrying about leveling for a while.

So, from experience, I can say the game will become fun again. There will be a time you finally look forward to beating Promy-Holla (I still need that one myself, to be honest) instead of dreading it.

Good luck, and let me know if you ever need any help. I should finally finish up my Lu's quest tonight, and I don't know what I'm going to do with all the time I'll suddenly find on my hands.

I wanna know whats ur pt set up?

A little help on this:
2 rng, 2 tanker (blink tank) to kite around, 1 whm, 1 summoner with astral flow

so the tanker kiting around the boss, while ranger dealing damage to boss, at 50% boss hp, summoner nuke with 2 hrs, 2 rng uses EES to finish up boss.

hope this will help :D

I don't know you Nemika, but I can most definately sympathize with the many frustrations of this game.

There is a white mage in my linkshell that is having similar issues with Holla (as I hear alot of people have).

I don't have any anima so I would have to farm recollections, and I have set all this week. But my weekends are free.

Perhaps you, me, the ls whm, and Wintaru can maybe put something together to overcome this hurdle.

Also, depending on your playtime, I'm normally bored outta my wits late at night, if you still need genkai items send me a tell and we can take care of that as well.

Thanks guys. I had an epiphany while I slept those three hours before work just now.

If I wouldn't have spent all my damned gil on this promy.... Think about it. If I farm back a replacement 245k that means I would have had 490k without doing this promy over and over again. That would have been enough to buy myself the jse subligar and harness that I've been working so hard for. That jse has been the only reason I try over and over again, and it just feels like I should have bought them now.

This just adds to why I don't like quests. Still rank 4, I actually just got it. I saw a rank 2 lv75 the other day and it gave me hope. Is that sad or what?

Hope comes in all forms ^^ Even in a lvl 75 probably switching over cities (man I wanna hit Rank 10...).

So long as you're still with us, and you're lookin' up to the possibilities still out there, it's all spiffy and we're next to ya to give ya a helpin' hand!

(lol.. nice favorite NPC btw *laughs* we mithra set ourselves up sooo badly -,-)

Don't give up on the quests. They're a good part of what keeps me in the game - not for the rank status, or not to reach some new area for experience parties, but because, like all FF games, there's usually a great story in there somewhere.

If you just have rank 4, you'll start seeing some pretty nice cutscenes pretty soon: the magicite scenes for rank 5, the scenes in the rank 6 missions...the scene for starting the ZMs when you get rank 6 is one of my favorites in the game so far.

And yeah, I hate dying in promys too, but remember the first time you ever went into one and how awesome it looked? It was like nothing I'd seen so far in the game.

The nice thing about a break is it gives you the time to back away from the pressure to get the next level, to get that piece of equipment, to get sky/moon/tavnazia access. And, with luck, you'll come back actually enjoying the process instead of just feeling the pressure to finish it.
