any one else got DC'ed?Follow

#1 Feb 14 2005 at 10:45 PM Rating: Good
I'm in a party and all of a sudden I get DC'ed (nothing out of the ordinary) but then I get a few calls from people "I DC'ed and it wont let me back on".

sense I'm not the only one I was wondering if anyone else got this problem?

also when I try to log in and it tries to connect to play online my modem lights for connection, and data start freaking out. like blinking and going off and on...

{help me out!}

The current feeling is this is from the 800 bans SE made on accounts. The main forum is pretty lit up with the news.

Holy crap, this is phenuckingomenal. I can't wait for everything to be back up and running again so I can start /sea all Tom, Jerry, etc...

edit: the part where people got DC'd isn't the good part, the theory about the 800 banned accounts is. YAY

My entire party got DCed in Boyhada Tree.
We managed to reassemble, but it really messed us up; shortly thereafter we broke up ; ; It was a shame, I ended up 800 tnl. ><

As far as I know, everybody everywhere on every server was DCed at that moment.

Yes, it seems it was a Server reset (prob to knock the ones who were banned off) and at the same time there was a POL problem with logining in It was fixed fast.

Btw Jerry's and Tom's were on after the bans :(

I was getting lagged out, but I never d/ced last night and neither did anyone in my party. Our RNG froze up a couple times and I nearly lost it, but I recovered. Maybe that's when it happened.

Either way, at least a serverwide crash was due to something worthwhile this time. >_>

Toms are still in Ordelle's too. Too early to make a call though.

I, like everyone else got dc'ed. Only wish it was after the thunderpact we had got doing bcnm had left the treasure pool. Well at least we didnt lose a astral ring that way.

Kinda rude on SOE part to just let everyone crash like that with no warning. I fell off and started reseting my modem,.... checking all my connections...
or was there a warning and i just fell before i could see it?

No warning that I noticed. They probably didn't expect this to happen. Not really much of an excuse, but it's possible

No response from server.
Connection timed out.
Press OK to shut down.

i emailed squareenix, but they just said check my connections... and my connections are fine, any suggestions?

That's basically the same thing they said to me, except they said to try calling the router company. Did that still didn't fix it. I don't know what the deal is, any more. Personally I think that their tech staff there are rude and some other words I won't use due to vulgarity, but you get the point. I think its on thier end because I didn't have problems until the POL update in early January.

Sorry if this didn't help any but the only thing I got to offer you is try your router settings.

Remember that last update where they had to release an emergency update because certain PS2 players couldn't connect because of a router issue they overlooked?

I suffered from that problem. And it took me three weeks to alleviate the problem because they would continuously repeat the same damn things over and over again. In the end, turns out my network adapter fried during the required restart. They never once suggested that, and they had me buy new cables, powercycle, call sony, and in total, I had sent them fourteen separate emails before I finally gave up and bought a new adapter. SE's technical support is quite possibly the worst you will ever encounter, and I must give you this advice:

DO NOT take anything they say seriously. Get a second and third opinion if you can. They very rarely know what they're talking about, and are notorious for telling you to "throw this away and buy a new one of these." Print out any emails then send to you, and then go to a local technical store (BestBuy or something like that) and have them look over your problem. They're the ones who ended up telling me it's probably my adapter, *not* SE.

OK sorry for the rant, but I really hate working with stupid people who are supposed to know this stuff.

You know, that's what I did when tech support couldn't help me when I reported that FFXI kept crashing just as it started to run. I forgot what the tech support people said, but the Best Buy guy told me to reinstall the video driver, and it worked. ^.^;;

When FF XI is acting all weird, just install the oldest video driver you can find, then see if it persists. It solves a lot of problems.
