I'm currently a lvl61 Sam and would like to get my parrying maxed to 207... right now it's 97.

If I get equipment with negative Evasion, will that increase my parrying?

~Thanks~

Yes and no.

I've tried this.

Personally, I'd rather have my toenails peeled off.

You parry more often with -evasion gear. By more often, I mean you might parry 5 times in an hour instead of 2.

And the skillups work like a weapon. If you miss, no skillup (i.e. no parry proc, no skill up) and if you hit, you MIGHT get a skillup (i.e. if you get a parry proc, you MIGHT get a skillup). You have to pick the right mobs, too. At 97, you might like chamber beetles in Garlaige for this. If you're very lucky, in 3 hours of trying, you might get 1.2 parry.

Actually, you might have it a bit better. You don't have four tiers of passive evasion boosts to cut through, so you might do better than I did.

Best bet = get a healer friend, a low damage weapon or a trick staff II or something, as much -evasion as money will buy, and just let a chamber beetle beat on you. It's slow as hell, but good luck. And remember you have to be engaged to parry.

Level War, Nin, and Pld to 75 ^^

j/k ... kinda :(

The only player I know with anything near capped parry at 75 has both 75 war and pld.

Not really a solution to your problems though. :P

Another thought is to snag a parrying torque when you hit 65, there might be other equipment that boosts parrying skill (besides rdm or bst AF).

Good luck ^^

I've seen a huge difference (imo) with parrying after my RDM AF gear was equipped - what seemed to make a difference was to get the parrying skill equipment and then goto work. With the fact of parrying being so high with the equipment, it would do it more, and the skills ups just started rolling in. Dont equip a shield either, which isnt an issue for you, the samurai.. I've been contemplating the question in this thread for a while.. Not sure if it would matter with dual-weild, but evasion stats we dont want either.. ><
