I'm not really blaming the PLers in this case as much as I am her party members who have that arrogant "We're invincible" attitude. And that's a result of the simple presence of those three ladies. Not healing, pulling when not ready, and not having buffs up, just because there's a PLer. It needs to stop. It really really needs to stop. Because if these three really didn't intend to powerlevel and were there just for a LS member or friend or whatever, then my previous point that people developed the arrogance and invincible attidute with PLs has just been proven.

Arrogance has nothing to do with PLing. I've seen plenty of idiots, with or without some high level back up.

The funniest type I've seen is the ppl who just got the "advanced" jobs and tries to level at the lowbie area. They are very bossy and arrogant to their teammates because they have a "advanced" job.

I've seen enough fools with ego bigger than themselves. Again PLing does not make lowbies stupid. Nor does making them arrogant. Arrogance comes from people's own stupidity. Idiots like those usually quit the game or STFU once they realized how useless they really are.

From the first time I entered Dunes, all the way through to where I currently am, I have had three pls, and of those pls, one was done by a party member two had his wife's character on the pc next to him doing the pl in Kazham. Of the other two, one was in Qufim, and the other was in Boyanda Tree.

Yes, you heard me right, in Tree. It was only for about an hour, but it still was really wierd. X.X

Personally, I detest powerleveling, and unless I receive an obscene amount of gil or there is a DA[br][/br]MN good reason, I will refuse to do it.

I personally find that it creates a sort of dependance on the pl when I party with people who ONLY have partied with a pl on hand. This affects the party as a whole later on.

The BLMs/WHMs/RDMs overnuke/overcure and die a lot, the tanks don't 'voke every 30 seconds to hold the hate (resulting in what I have termed "the ping-pong effect" of hate bouncing from the overnuking/overcuring mages and the tank), and the DDs don't really know how to do their job...

Also, a pl is a direct insult to the white mage of the party, at least in my opinion. If the pt searches out for a pl even when they have a whm, it is like the pt is saying "we don't trust you to do your job, so we are going to find someone to make sure that when you fail, we all won't die" to the whm. As a result, I DETEST even the thought of being powerleveled. Its just a direct slap to the face.

In my experience of being PLed, people blow what it does waaaay out of poportion. In a party setting, all it honestly does is changes the tank. The healers will still heal, and the DDers will still DD. I don't care how good a pler is, the party will still function in almost the exact same way as it did before, whether that be a good function or a bad one.

A PT can still die from making mistakes with a PLer, even doing the same mistakes that kill PTs without PLers. The basic strategy of the party does not change. All it generally means is healers will get more time to meditate and regen mp in case the fit hits the shan, and the tank suddenly becomes a DDer as best he can. For newbie tanks, I can see this as being bad, since they don't really learn thier job.

But, to be honest, the amount of PLers ANYWHERE is so rare that a newbie tank will still get plenty of opportunities to learn his trade.

My experience, however far it may go, is that a pler for a pt just won't do that much to affect the other people in the pt. 9 times out of 10 the people in the PT are smart enough (newbie or not) to realize that this isn't something that happens all the time. And if they aren't, 9 times out of 10 someone who is will correct them.

Newbies aren't going to "grow up" in the world of Vana'Diel to become crappy players because they had a pler or two. If they grow up to become crappy players it's because they are, guess what, crappy players. A newbie with a lot of potential is still going to grow up to be a good player, even if he does get PLed a little bit along the way.

I'm against people pling other people from like level 1 to level 50, because then they really don't learn anything. But having some guy's friend come PL him out in the dunes WILL NOT make some newbie become an idiot who doesn't know anything overnight. It just won't. If he's a smart newbie, he'll learn from other pts (If he's a REALLY smart newbie, he'll learn from the PLer) and if he's a stupid newbie he's probably going to become a stupid player no matter what you do. (Do not misunderstand me. Being a stupid newbie doesn't mean you're someone who doesn't know anything or asks a lot of seeming obvious question. It means you aren't willing to learn and refuse to accept any good advice thrown your way.)

That's what I've got to say on the subject. PLing is not bad so long as it's kept within reason. Helping a friend get through a tough party in Valkrum isn't going to cause the party structure collapse of the entire future generation of Vana'Diel. Helping a friend get through a tough 50 levels, however, could.

If you want to help a new friend get to your level and he's a LONG ways, make a new character and set up a semi set PT or full set PT and teach him the things he needs to do through experience. Sitting next to every pt he's in and pling that pt will learn him jack squat.
