This sever is getting too crowded again !Follow

#1 Feb 12 2005 at 9:18 AM Rating: Default
Im sure im not the only one that has noticed that this server is getting to crowded again.Yesterday was the worst I've seen it in a while.Last night i was booted about 6 times.First it happened when i was fishing in jeuno,I reconnected and was booted twice more within a 20 min period.Once I finally thought the worst was over it happened again about an hour later.Around 6 o'clock i was partying at boyada tree and 2 party members d/c'ed within 5 min, then I disconnected. After I got back on another party member d/c'ed and did'nt come back.At this point we gave up and all of us logged. Then later on around 10:30 PM iI got into another party at the tree.At first it was fine, but after an hour it started happening again. We lost 3 members, but this time I did'nt d/c at least. But we were forced to disband and go back to jeuno again, and these were all different people from the last party. At that time I checked to see how many people were logged on the server. To my suprise it said there was 4000 people on.Now I understand at this time of night japenese players start coming on and because it was friday americans stay on later, but this was by far the most people I've ever seen on at once.Since the average number of players on the server is about 2000-3000,this was obviously overcrowded.I think its time for them to let people change worlds again. My complaints are the fact that i have been having serious connection problems along with many other people, and while looking for a party in jeuno there were 10 other tanks lfp at the same level as me.I know this will happen from time to time, but its just getting out of hand.I have a cable modem and use a ps2.I have had FFXI for about a year now and I've never had problems like this before. It is ruining my gaming experience, and I am very upset.Feel free to submit your thoughts. And HELP square Enix ! HELP !!!!!!!

Most likely its not a result of too many people online, its probably a problem at an ISP or somewhere else in the internets infrastructure, it happens from time to time and occasionally its a problem at SE's end, but it usually gets fixed.

OK well first of all, and I hate to be a grammar ****, but please make paragraphs. And remember the thing called a spacebar? Yeah, periods like it too. They get lonely when they don't have one.

Secondly, remember that it's the weekend. Lots more people play on the weekend. 4000 people isn't a lot when you compare it to the fact that we used to have well over 6000 on the server. It's come down considerably since then. In fact sometimes there aren't enough people online to put together a decent party. I've had to wait over 4 hours for a party in Qufim the past few days. As a Bard. There were just no tanks or no mages of any kind seeking. Not that there was much to choose from when something useful did show up in the Seeking Party window. I felt bad for the melees that were left behind when a suitable party *was* able to be formed.

Thirdly, it's not surprising in the least that you were kicked in Jeuno. That's already one of the most congested places in the game, and on a weekend it's only worse. That is something SE should address. Since so many people congregate there, they need to either upgrade their servers, or remove the 56k cap there. It's simply not able to handle all the data transferring going on, and some people with lower system specs pay the price.

If anything is SE's fault, it's the 56k cap. True, this makes it fairer to people on dial-up, but if they could keep monster spawns at 56k speeds but leave data transfer uncapped, they should do that. They already do that when you zone into another area, broadband users "Download Data" faster than the rest. Or maybe just make Broadband Only / Dial-up Only servers. Or whatever. But I'll agree that something needs to be done about the awful d/c rates in Jeuno. It can't just be a random happening when so many people have complaints about it.

It's been a few days since I posted this thread. And last night I had connection problems again. This time I couldnt get on for a half hour, once I did d/c again after five minutes. Meanwhile a friend of mine was partying at the tree where I had problems with disconnecting the other day,and he had the same problem. His entire party was getting booted one at a time.

Now I'm starting to wonder if there is a major issue with the entire server. I've been hearing about alot of problems from many different people. My question is, has anyone else been having problems? I checked all of my equipment and it is definitely fine. I reset my cable modem and updated my router, but still the issue remains. I just want to play without problems, lol. And I have tried to use proper paragraph form and punctuation for the grammar police :P

D/Cing in general seems to only be a major problem in Jeuno. I would check with ur ISP too if u and your friend are running the same service.

Anyway, the reason I think its not as crowded as it was earlier is my little shop hasn't D/C'ed in about 3 months. I remember things being a lot worse a few months ago, but maybe then it was my ISP. Not sure.

Just my 2 cents : )

/em runs back to Selbina.

Not to hijack, but I'm with Jaden on this one. Thank Altana that Drowsorez was in Selbina last Saturday, because I was fresh out of Mithkabobs and was in no mood to run back to Sandy or something cute like that.
