NEW JOB TRAIT FOR SAMURAIS! CAN I GET A HELL YEAH! And how the hell could they possibly "adjust" Third Eye? Oooh, this will be good... or really bad... I don't know. Maybe Third Eye will give us more than one blink! *glee* Or maybe... not. Hmm. I hate these mysterious announcements. :(

Whitemage Job ability... Will be fun to see what this is... I can't honestly see what they need, but then, I didn't see why Thieves needed Assassin till I bothered to check out what it did.

I'm guessing it's probably going to amplify their curing powers, so that they are actually the main healers and RDMs and SMNs can't always replace them. This is a double edged sword though, since if this happens, WHMs will be desired more than ever, and they're already rare.

I know I was constantly passed up for a RDM at 41. That evil little spell they get makes parties want them more. I'm beyond that level now, and at the point where RDMs don't want to be main healer since it's hard to take on two roles at once. Enfeebler + Healer + Refresher + Dispeller + Debuffer = One busy RDM, and something's gotta give....and it's usually the RDM's temper and/or patience.

Anyway, my theory is that it'll improve the potency of Cures to allow them to possibly break the cap even. It probably won't be available til after 40 though, or even 60 since that's when Assassin is (or so I've been told).

Time will tell.

Speaking of which, and maybe I just missed it, but have they set a date for this update yet?

Hell yeah, you can get a hell yeah! OH HELL YEAH!

Yup, 'adjusting' Third Eye does sound kinda sketchy... I hope they don't touch the recast >.>

...and new Job Trait. Hmmm. It's not a new Job Ability but it's a start ^^

Some kinda 'Conserve TP' trait would be fitting. As in when we fire off a WS, there's a chance a certain percentage of our TP (20%-25% maybe?) could be saved. Obviously make it a lvl 40+ Job Trait. Even 60 like Assasin, as stated above.

Edited for clarity

At least WHM don't have to stand in Jeuno LFP all day. At 72, it's becoming increasingly difficult for me to find a competent party, (which is sad, at best) especially when people cling to their petty beliefs about skillchains and set-in-stone xp areas, et cetera.

Granted, I'm very picky about what parties I join, being of the belief that "If I ain't havin' fun, it ain't worth it," so it could just be me, but eh.

On an On-topic note: Merit point upgrade! /dance

Ballista Update

In the upcoming version update, resistance to the following spells during Ballista matches will increase: Sleep, Lullaby, Gravity, Bind, and Silence. Other aspects, such as effect duration, will also be adjusted.

A new "Ballista Ranking" system based on Ballista points, as well as extra temporary items, will be introduced. However, this ranking system will not be activated at the time of the version update. Further details will be announced in a separate news item.

Finally found the page with all the changes in the POL client. When you log in to POL and click FFXI, under "Play" highlight "Information", click "Updates", and at the top should be todays list. I'm just gonna add a few of the "OMG I can't wait to see what they will be" changes. The rest you can view for yourselves ;)

"When entering a battlefield, the record for the best time will now be accompanied by the record holder's name." (It will list how many members entered the battlefield, but wll only display the name of the first member.)

"It is now possible to skip the event scenes for battlefields you ahve already cleared."

"The behavior of the Morion Worm has been adjusted. A certain amount of time after it has been engaged in battle, the Morion Worm will retreat under the ground ending the fight."

As far as the new Merit Point Abilities, many jobs will be able to use merit points to adjust the recast time of various Job Abilities (YES!!! THE RECAST TIME!!! This means that Red Mages will be able to shorten the recast of Convert!!!) whereas others like Black Mage can increase the "potency" of their elemental spells using merit points. Summoners can increase the accuracy or damage of their avatar etc. Also, certain job traits like Double Attack and Counter, and Zanshin, as well as other traits from other jobs, can have their frequencey altered using merit points. This is probably similar to various armor you see that says "Counter +1" etc. Here they are in detail straight from the Developers' Room.

-Berserk Recast

-Warcry Recast
-Aggressor Recast

"The blindness effect caused by the white magic spell Flash and the black magic spell Blind will now be considered as different status effects. Accordingly, Flash will no longer cancel the effect of Blind."

"The white magic spell Banish III has become available.
Banish III WHM Lv.65"

"The white mage job trait Divine Veil has been added. The job trait Divine Veil enhances the effect of the job ability Divine Seal. When cast after using Divine Seal, the effect area for spells that remove status ailments will increase from a single target to a small radius." (Basically, I think what they are getting at is that if a monster uses Poisonga, the WHM can cast Divine Seal, then Divine Veil, and cast Poisona to remove the Poison effect from the entire party, as if it was turned into Poisonara or something like that ^^. Dunno if this can turn Erase into Erasera or anything, but we'll just have to wait and see =:D.)

"The samurai job trait Zanshin has been added. After gaining this job trait, samurais may attack again immediately after missing a target." (This seems to be similar to Double Attack, except that the second attack only kicks in sometimes if you miss. This is definitely an awesome trait in my opinion.)

"The effect of the samurai job ability Third Eye has been adjusted. Magic, songs, and breath attacks will no longer cancel the effect of Third Eye. Also, the effect will extend to anticipating multiple-attack techniques that target a single opponent." (My guess here is that Third Eye will only block physical attacks, and now it will also block multiple hit attacks instead of the first initial one.)

"If the target of a ranged attack moves out of weapon range, the ranged attack will now automatically miss."

The chat-filters have been expanded to include filters for other npcs. For example, you can now filter messages in the chat screen from monsters that are claimed by you, claimed by others, or unclaimed. I'm sure this will make a certain uberfightmage that I know very happy =:D.

So yea, these were the updates I felt most people would be interested in. There is also a bunch of other stuff in the Information section on the POL viewer that you can easily see for yourself ^^. Most of the other stuff has already been covered in this thread =:D.
