I know there has been talk on these boards about new jobs for FF, but in lieu of the big update, I thought it would be kind of fun to see what everyone has to say about what jobs they would like to see.
Out of all the FF's that I have played (all of them, even X-2 :/) I came up with the 'short list'.

Gun Mage/Blue Mage
Mime
Dancer/Songstress
Berzerker
Geomancer
Sorcerer

Personally, I would like to see the Gun mage/Blue mage or the Mime. Gun mage took the utter crappiness out of low level Blue mages w/o monster abilities yet by giving them a gun, and Mime could ultimately be the most powerful job in the game.

Thoughts?

I always wanted the female counterpart of Bard (Dancer) to be in the game. I would love to just see my char dancing mobs to sleep and what not, lol. Fighting in the Opaline armor would actually be practical. Belly Shirt {Can I have it?}

As long as I (Black Mage) get to deal more damage than anyone else I'm happy ^^

Heheh, I think the Pirate is a good idea. Blue mage....I don't know much about them. I would like to see summoner pets do more ****/summons.....basically I want to see Bahamut - the wyrm king.

Oh yeah, I want Meteor, Meteo, and and and Ultima DAMMIT!

How about Necromancer. Imagine going into the necroplis marching around with an army of undead at your back. Take that you dam Tomb Mage.

oo oo oo Lumberjack... no wait I know...

I want to be a Lion-Tamer!!

In all seriousness though... the only Final Fantasy's I have played are, the first one for the NES and FFIII for SNES.

From all of my FF experience *cough* I would like one thing. A Red Mage like it was at the beginning way back when.

See the whole reason I picked Red Mage was from that game. Melee damage at about 50-66% of a Fighters and all the Level 1 spells of the BLM and WHM just a little later in Level. It was by far the best class in the game. Oh yeah and the spell potency was the same as the other mage classes. So a BLM and RDM both casting Fire I would do roughly the same damage, the BLM just got the spell sooner.

Oh and why did I pick Elvaan... because I read the game manual...

Elvaan's are master's of the sword... I thought I was getting the best of both world's, an increase in my (what I thought) already pretty good melee abilities added to all that spellcasting goodness.

So basically yeah, I'd just like the RDM to be a little more like it was way back then... I hate being relegated to the caster line even though I have accepted my role as mage support/enfeeb god.

See, I have a desire for new jobs, I really do, because I need something to take a break from stuff with DRK. Granted, I have PLD, which I also enjoy, but...I need more.

If they added the Pirate job that is listed here, that would be awesome. I might even quit DRK if the job was like that.

The ideas discussed on this Geomancer thread are also good, but I won't plug myself too much here, since I posted on that thread about my ideas for the Geomancer AF quests. >.>

But, we do need more jobs, more variety or something. Then again, some people might say we have enough now, but I feel that more variety would make for a more pleasurable gaming experience.

I'd like to see something like the twins from FF2 (US). Some sort of a job that wasn't very powerful by itself, but if you had the counterpart in your pt they'd be more powerful than 2 blms. Imo this would fit in with the basic idea of the party system, requiring close cooperation. Maybe even requiring a sequence of buttons to be pushed or moves to be done in order kind of like Saiban from FF3 to accomplish it.

I bet a lot of people would team up with a friend and make a semi-static with that job so they'd always have a buddy. That might be cool too.

We need another job with healing abilities. That way alot of people would try it out and I would always be able to find a healer for my PT.

in response to the OP:

i personally favor Blue Mage, because i would quest it immediately and race to 75 with it gladly. including {/ra} {Gun}? {Yes, Please!}

still, lots of realy good ideas came from the geomancer and pirate threads, and i'm certain that there are a number of really well thought out job classes written out elsewhere as well. whatever SE does with the next update, i'm sure it will be satisfactory. i have to say that we are neck deep in melee classes, though, and a few more mage/debuffer types would go a long way.

Holy crap. That is a seriously awesome idea. Def. advanced job tho X_X new players wouldn't know WHAT to do with them. Still, it seems like there'd have to be some initial spell or ability to be cast to link two characters, because given the idea, it seems like a three character combo would get really out of hand. *IT++ mob explodes*
