SE likes gil sellers? hear me outFollow

#1 Feb 03 2005 at 3:20 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, so I've thought A LOT about this. And I truly believe SE likes, if not love gil sellers.

I was talking to someone who works at SE (she really does know her in RL) and she saying how they know about the tom's, and the jerry's, and the apples but wont do anything ahout them. And other people hate them cuz THEY always get the NM spawns, THEY ruin the economy.

Why would SE like gil sellers? easy, profit.

lets do a little math, shall we?

currently there is about 1.5 million people playing. On average I guess a person pays 15 dollars a month. (servise fee+multiple characters)

so each month SE gets around 22,500,000 million dollars a month. Just off of servise fees. of course that goes for running FFXI, but they are making a HUGE profit.

Why is this important? SE wont make money if don't play.

What does this have to do with it? The more stuff is the more people have to play to get what they want.

gil farmers are the reason why the items are gross amount of gil.

for this the normal player (us) has to play longer, play more just to get that one stupid item.

so with gil farmers around people have to play more, so pay each month, and SE gets their money and they are happy. I know I'm going to get bashed but face it, it's true. it really is.

Corperation = Profit over People.

I probaly left a ton out lol so ask questions, we can talk about it.

oh right, I know SE will do something about SE IF they openly admit to it, but it comes down to they most likly have MORE then enough evidence to take out tom's, the jerry's, and the apples...

Lets be real we all know deep down inside they do. Cause if they really cared about the gil sellers they dont even have to kick them. All the have to do is make all the items they camp ex/rare. No one will camp the peacock charm and etc.. if they do that. The ppls who buy gil are happy they have all the good gear, while ppls like me have to farm for hrs. I have no problem with the gil sellers or buyers, but SE should just stop lying and say just ******* play.

thank you very much. you really made my day lol.

what I think is crappy is I get suspended for not even being a gil seller, and joking around when they know who the real gil sellers are. which I find a little stupid... but what can ya do?

I do have to agree with you. I really have no problem with gil sellers or buyers either, they don't bother me at all. just what I started a few lines up lol

SE doesn't care about gil sellers. They won't care until they lose more money from the people quitting than the gil seller accounts accumulate each month.

That was brutal english. Seriously. Also, your/your friends concept of time and money in this game is totally incorrect. We pay a MONTHLY CHARGE, DOENST MATTER HOW MANY HOURS WE PLAY IN THAT MONTH.

If we payed SE by the hour then yes, your assumption would be correct...but we don't so your post is just ******** that I had the misfortune to read.

On, a more serious note. That grammar check is kinda lame and same goes with you post whores putting in links to a Dictionary or Theasaurus etc.
Nobody gives a flying ****

This is not an Honours Thesis or Phd paper.
Please don't correct me on spelling Honour either.

^^

On topic, Chops is right. I'd say more, but he pretty much said it for me, so... there you go.

I don't really know about this one but the gil-seller thing amuses me for some reason. If you ever see any of the "gil-sellers" you will see their linkpearl by their name. The Redapples had this, the Toms, some of the Jerrys, the Lillygg, LillyNN and LillyMM and some of the other ones as well. They are all in the same Linkshell, which is named ThirdEyesAssasins. I do believe one named Skykiller is in this as well as the new Redapples, MagicLindy and Mamici. The former Redapples use those names as well. So I guess it is safe to say thats a gilseller Linkshell? Who knows.

If dont play....yeah umm ok.

Anyway, to the guy just above me here, who put More time = more days = more months

your correct...but its out of context. I lay down a monthly fee, if I had a week off work and farmed 24/7 for that week, i would get the cash and the item i wanted....SE wouldnt make much money off me now would they cuz i payed for the month as a whole. Now if I payed by hour then they would make a killing.

Oh and yeah CHOPS is right. I just didnt feel like typing what he said again =p

That doesn't really matter. I mean, yes, you may have to work harder to camp an NM, but just because you get your Leaping Boots or whatever doesn't mean you'll quit the game. Most people are going to play the same amount of time, the only difference is what they're doing during that time, and the money goes to SE either way.

The reason SE allows this, I think, is because it's easier to let them do it than to not. Gilsellers are obviously making money, and gil is being sold by large companies with a lot of money. Regardless of how clear the language is in the agreement, courts have been tied up for years over language even more clear. So let's say SE bans the toms and jerrys, the big companies selling the gil then sue SE for whatever grounds, SE has to pay money for lawyers. We'll keep playing regardless, so why bother?

It's just illogical, if you are saying right then SE is full of stupid people who can't think of what they are doing.

Gil selling does not make people play more, its makes them play, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, party, farm, farm, quit.
#14 Feb 03 2005 at 7:41 PM Rating: Good
lol wow I have to admit that was some poor, poor english. I'm a horrible typer when I've been up for a while, and I was up for a pretty long time. any who you guys crack me up. haha you guys get to offended over nothing! it's really funny...

***important***

but in reality land it's not really about playing a ton. SE could care probaly care less. If you just play once in a while, maybe once a month, or even every other month they'll still getting their money. If the dough is coming in, I doubt they're actually care is you play a lot or not. They just need that edge that keeps you coming back. That has noting to do with gil sellers, not totally linked... actually not really linked at all. hehehehehe

If word got that gilsellers were gone from the game, SE would see an increase in ppl playing...then again that would make it harder on the servers an we would d/c twice as much. lol
if se got rid of gilsellers. even after paying lawyers, they would make up for it in increase of people joining again
just my input.

OK, just to say a little something, sure Gilsellers camp all the good, expensive items, and it's that much harder to get money in FFXI, but lets think about this. How insecure do you have to be to need to spend 6mil gil on an equip that gives you a minor boost to a stat that,.without that boost, wouldn't be nonfunctional. Seriously, items like the Astral Ring and the Peacock Charm are 'pretty' accessories. Good to show off, but not required to do your job. Sure it may not be 'easy', but then it's not really about it being easy or hard? Astral Rings psh. Two electrum rings and a good Marron Glace and I've got more than enough mp to be a white mage.

Not to mention, if you play an online game right now, and it has currency, the sales places have that currency for sale. CoH, WoW, EQ, EQ2... Any game you get on they are there. Also talk to a GM, and point out someone who is using a bot, or is gilfarming, and you can prove it, they will get booted.

But how do you prove someone is a gilfarmer to a GM without any doubt/100% legally?

well, its prolly just a rumor, but i hear that POL and SE get kickbacks from the gil seller companies.

i hear they get paid by those companies to let the gil sellers stay on. i know a few guys who were being MPK by some gil sellers and they called a GM. as usual the GM didnt do anything and my buddy then talked his pt into MPKing them back and then the GM threatened thier accounts for it.

so personaly i believe it
i wonder how the jerrys were booted... then a week later came back and still were the same lvls they were before.

i referr to them as the gil selling mafia now cause they have some real connections
