/evil hijack

Before you make another one of these pointless, rehashed threads, with the only variable being {insert player's name here}, check this out.

Disclaimer (but I'm gonna eat my words anyway, because I know this has been posted someplace): I have NO CLUE where the original was posted, though I seem to recall seeing this on some dusty thread from days past, so I just yoinked it from the Rdm forum instead.

I think its appropriate, as of late.

We now resume your regularly scheduled thread.

but isn't the search button available to premium members only? SO for everyone that is poor like me, go ahead and post pointless posts about someone who sucked at a job, even though the bad players thread is just a click away

can you really start a thread with a hijack? ...hmm

Ah well, Ive never seen that before, and I find it pretty damn amusing. I doubt it will help though, horse beating seems to be contagious and addictive.

Recently the Search button isn't even required. Besides you should at least have the common sense to check the first two to three pages of the fourm at least.

Personally I think a lot of it started because it became cool to have your thread hijacked.

*sighs*

Do you know WHY Wint, Nata, and the others hijack a thread???

Usually, they do that on the verge of it becoming a flame war, or after something REALLY stupid has happened. It is to keep some semblance of peace on this board.

Even Kestra who is the OP of the thread, hijacked it before it devolved into a flame war.

You want flame wars? Go to the Asylum, the official flame page, or better yet, the FFXI main forum page.

And that's kinda my point, here. There's already one... no wait TWO existing threads devoted to trashing the reputations of questionable players. Is it really necessary to make a brand new post EVERY time you have a problem with somebody?? And as if it weren't enough, at that, now they have to make a follow-up post to each of these. Enough is enough!

The other line: "Will this post contribute to the thread?"
All I've seen these things contribute to is a 50+ post fight thread, that eventually ticks off so many people that the admins have to come and lock it! Don't believe me? Look at the Infamouskiller post; post after post of two people spitting out their personal fight, for all to see. You can't possibly tell me that those fight threads are contributing ANYTHING useful to this community.

Am I a disgusting human being to state that that those threads sometimes give me amusement? >.>

Then again, I am a cynical, sarcastic, misanthropic *******, so that might be the answer to my question right there. <.<

Wow ...that was funny.. but.. I'm lazy and I don't feel like doing any of that stuff... I'll rather make a new thread .. but thanks for the opinion though.

I'm pretty forgiving of most 'unnecessary' threads. So it's been posted before, oh well... and irrelevancy really is the spice of life, so I don't mind that kind of thread either.
In biological-theoreticism threads discussing neural-tube growth and consciousness, ok, maybe it's good to follow all the rules. But come on, this is a video game for crying out loud. ;)

I do have *MAJOR* issues with the recent spate of 'this guy sucks' 'that guy sucks' threads though. I haven't said anything up to now, but it's late, I haven't slept and this has been brewing forever.

There's no lower impulse that a man has than the temptation to join in with a mob against one single person. When everyone is throwing rocks, there's a degree of anonymity and participation in picking up a rock and letting it fly too. The group is tighter, in its rejection of a single member of the group.

We've all been through high school, right? Well, in any social environment, even a game, there has to be the nerds' table; there have to be those people that don't fit in, for one reason or another.
But having spent my time at the nerds' table, there's nothing I hate more than a gangbang. Infamouskiller and Beatdown are the latest whipping posts, but if you look at the landslide of opinion when it came to these two people, the same thing could happen to any of us given a sufficient number of bad days in the proximity of Alla posters.

One person posts that he doesn't like someone. Another person posts. A third. And it's fair to say that *probably* most of these people did have personal run-ins with the people mentioned, but those threads got completely out of control; I recall one person posting and falling over him/herself in gratitude because Infamouskiller had invited him/her to a party, and was declined.

'These threads do work!'

Well, it's nice to see the threads working while they're munching up someone else's reputation, and ruining the game for that person. But it's pretty easy for something like that to happen to anyone under the right circumstances.

Sometimes, 'bad player' mentions are warranted, I'm not arguing that. It wasn't the fact that someone had a bad opinion that got to me, it was the lynch-mob quality of the threads after a while.
I partied with Beatdown, and again, he was not a terrible PLD. I've partied with good and bad, just like you guys have, and I can only remember one or two players that I would refuse to party with again. Beatdown wasn't one of them, and he got set up in these threads like Satan himself in the form of a digital Hume.

I anticipate the rate-downs for this, but it's been in the back of my mind for a long time now. It was kind of disappointing to see how hard that witch-hunt rode once it got going.

Let the irrelevancy stay, who cares about the double posts or the previously asked questions; but those 'Bob sucks and don't party with him!' threads have got to go.

I seem to remember taking quite a lot of crap from someone for being 'cynical'. -_-

I cry foul, Xano. ;)

Very well put Sioux.

Although I have been playing for a while and feel that I'm a good player, there have still been numerous times where I myself have made horrible mistakes which have cost the lives of mine, my fellow party member's, and other players as well, which most likely left bad impressions of me in their minds. Likewise, there have been times when I've saved the lives of my party members and fellow players, in which case I've left good impressions of myself in their minds.

Basically, there will be people who like each other, and people who don't, and the same goes for anyone and everyone, whether its in game or in real life. That is just the way things unfortunately are ; ;.

Meanwhile, back at KoR headquarters...

Unhand those cookies Xano! Return them at once to their rightful owner or I shall smight thee by placing your AF gloves back into the Eldieme Coffer! =:R!!!
