Who is the "you" that you are addressing, when you refer to lazy people who buy gil? You're seemingly blaming your predicament (as well as the obvious immorality of your proposed solution) on us...because we buy gil. Just one catch, though, and that is the fact that we don't buy gil.

I'm assuming your quickness to displace your own fallacy onto others has a litte bit to do with your failed relationship and unemployment. Stop pointing fingers and grow up. We all have jobs and play. If you're not able to balance the two, then don't play.

EDIT: Also, I'm more than a little annoyed that you have the audacity to call me lazy and hypocritical when you are the one who doesn't want to get a job. That turns both of your remarks around onto you in a hurry now, doesn't it?

I am married, I own my own House, two cars, got a good job and I play FFXI. I still hang with my friends and go out. I am able to balance everything easily, why? Well, because I have a sense of good judgement that you very much seem to lack.

Your priority should have been to quit the game once it took your life out for drinks and tossed it into the dumpster behind the bar. GET YOUR LIFE BACK TOGETHER!

i don't know about gilselling, but if you want to make money playing a video game, just realise that it is, in fact, a performance art. in other words, get a really good media setup and set up your living/playing situation around a venue, and around people who enjoy watching you play. Haijin does not have to be a truly 'wasted person' if the audience is entertained and the artist compensated.

granted, most of our audience prefers watching GTA:San Andreas to FFXI, but that's because so much of play time revolves around farming and xping, which is ultra-boring and very much like RL work. i suggest getting a set PT together to play during 'prime-time' and use those 'performance sessions' to complete rank missions and the really flashy BCNM fights, etc. the stuff that makes people excited, or has really good cutscenes. i also suggest roleplaying during these sessions to maximize audience immersion.

another option is to set up your own gaming network and rent out workstations to people by the hour. it's a capital investment, but it can lead to a situation where you can have your income supplemented by video games. you can also be paid in your capacity as a tutor in this situation.

gilselling is the worst idea, as it ruins the very core of the game you have become Haijin for. and that is sad.
