Set Party Fill-ins; What would you do?Follow

The other night I got an inv for a pt 68-70 going to Bibiki Bay. I accepted, and the whm tele-mea. I noticed 4 of them had the same LS on, but noone mentioned being part of a set, partying limited time, etc.

Everything went well for an hour or so. Then one of the 4 tells our pld (Feylonia, who is an excellent pld btw), that she has to leave because their static pld just got on. This really struck me as unfair and, well, rather slimy. I /tell Fey if she knew about this, and how she felt about it. She didn't know and was quite upset. This was the first I knew about it, when they said she had to leave, now.

It really upset me too, here we were less than an hour into a pt, after a 2100 gil choco from mea, and they are forcefully replacing one of our members.

Anyway I said if Fey was going I was too. I didn't want to be a part of that, and at least suspected that their static 6th member might mysteriously just appear in the near future, and would be in the same situation.

Fey and I went back to jeuno, and created a new pt, went to Bibiki, and outlasted the static.

So anyway what would you do if you were forcefully kicked from a pt for doing nothing wrong? Is something like this worth listing the names of the 4 on the bad players forum?

Imo when you make a pt, set party replacement or otherwise, there is some sort of commitment implied. If they got a replacement because thier pld didn't show up they should stay with the replacement till the pt ends. At the very least they should have said something about it before we left jeuno and gave us a choice then, before getting out there. Something a simple as, "If our set members come online, we need to pt with them, and you will be replaced." I doubt they could get replacements like that, but is what should be done.

It would be different I think if they let you know going in that you were just a filler while they waited for one of their set.

In my opinion Dag, you did the right thing. You showed dignity, which is something I don't see often. My hats off to you.

PS... Nice bumping into you the other day.

it was nice PTing in Bibiki bay with you the other night (not same
PT Daggerot refers to with Feylonia).

if one of the members of my set party does not sign on, and we
decide to move ahead an exp with a couple pickups, then those
people are with us for the rest of the night, regardless if the set
member that was not there signs on later.

generally speaking, i think it's a little rude to go to all the
time and trouble setting up a party, just to have a spot ready
for set members who arrive late and kick out "temporary" players
with little to no warning.

either:
a) wait for them in town,
b) exp without them as individuals
c) pickup players to supplement the set that entire night

rate up for you, for sticking with Feylonia^^ (whom i've known
as an acquaintance since she was a level 11 Warrior^^)

Quick hijack. It's compulsive when I see APC lyrics. No one where I live likes them. Smiley: frown

aww dagg sweetie ; ; /hugs

Yes i know Feylonia and second that she is an awsome PLD and a lot of fun. It makes me mad that they would just tell her to leave without a heads up.

It was good of you to take a stand for her and leave with her. Maybe that set will learn some party courtesy in the future. ><;

As above, you did the right thing.
Having a set denotes a certain responsibility to the set, and if the set PLD couldn't show and didn't give advance notice, well, sorry man ; ;

RL is more important than the game, no question, but since there are real people in a set pt that may be laying aside other plans to spend time with you, it's behest of you to let them know when you can't appear. That crap has been around since Queen Victoria, they didn't invent it last Wednesday for crying out loud.

Set PLD loses, and the leader was wrong to boot you for his mistake.

(ps: APC is great ^^ That makes two of you so far that have them quoted in your sigs, to you I say (^^)b )

I've spent too much time hijacking today. It's becoming compulsive.

Apologies in advance...

(^^)b always looks like a guy holding a roach to me. Maybe I have too many pot-head friends... Smiley: tongue

What did you think of eMotive?
#9 Jan 25 2005 at 11:57 PM Rating: Good
I thought Emotive was just a bit political for me, it was kind of a departure. It wasn't BAD, in particular 'Imagine' and 'Counting Bodies' were great, and since I agree with a lot of the sentiment it makes good Winamp fodder.

As far as APC's work goes, Thirteenth Step is still my favorite though. (You know, I first heard that album while recieving my first tattoo. XD What a way to get introduced)

I'm a bit more into the introspective stuff than the political bent, but I can still sympathize with it, so it's good stuff.

And yes, I had Maynard Keenan.

Many times.

heh heh

I'm into politics, introspective stuff, you name it.

Back when I was a big drug-addict (>.>) I got the opportunity to take hallucinogens and see TOOL in concert. Highlight of my life. I think I left my body for a few days after that. (<.<)

Thirteenth step is my favorite too, though my two favorite songs are off of Mer de Noms. Rose and Orestes.

Imagine cover is better than the original. And I don't say that often. Most covers never live up to the original.

I think we've hijacked this one enough. Smiley: grin

Normal service will be resumed. Presently.
