Good stuff.
I like the idea of the pics showing up when you hover over the list rather than having to click, but I'd recommend parsing the site into frames, and anchoring the picture window in one of those rather than floating with the mouse pointer. Unless you're on an over-the-top system (and I am not) the motion tends to be more jarring, less fluid.

check your functionality with low res monitors; i had some issues viewing the photos at 800X600 in Mozilla Firefox. i know it's me that sucks, but web designers usually shoot for the LCD right? just some constructive criticism.
