Am I the only one who noticed the sudden overnight drop of Wind Ore from 230k to 130k? What happened people? If you'd all just put em up for 230k then they all would have sold in about the same amount of time anyways. And now I'm losing faith that they're going to go back up two. NOW what am I supposed to do with those three Wind Ores in my inventory? Excuse me while I go sulk.

Its because everybody goes to pikko pots, and there is a new recipe for wind ore on there..

So now people are making lots of them, and undercutting..

Elemental Ore prices always rollercoster. I've grown them on and off for a while now and watched the prices. My own theory on this is... A lot of players see the price of a particular ore is higher than the rest and decide to attempt to grow it, it takes a good month to grow, so in 30 days time you get a flood of 1 or 2 types of ore on the market and the price bottoms out, in the mean time other types of ores dry up and the price of these rocket up, people see this and decide to grow them and so the whole process is repeated.

If you are not happy with the price at the moment hang on to them, they usually go back up again eventually.

I wish everything that I bought was undercut and everything that I sold was overpriced.

I have a different hypothesis.. I think there is a group of people price fixing items. If you look.. the bidders are all Vaa, Vbb, Vcc etc etc.. otherwise known as the V's.

You get one ore. .list it for lower.. have someone bid on it.. pass it back.. repeat 10 times.. viola.. instant new price.

The same group killed the ice ore price.

I really hate people ******** with the game like that.. .. /em eyes WoW

/em calmly watches everyone losing their mind about wind ore prices while patiently saving for his Wind Staff.

Sorry XD Just had to point out that lower prices are not evil incarnate that destroy everyone but maniacal "price fixers". There are consumers as well. I picked up my Ice Staff for 29K, and I'd love to pick up a wind staff for that kind of money.

Also consider that sellers of big-ticket items like wind ore, for example, cannot be blamed for lowering their price to ensure they sell the item. The tax on a 230K item would be 4700 gil, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe these guys produce wind ore en masse and simply weren't moving enough of them and ate the 4700 gil too often. Maybe they decided that at the rate they produce wind ore, they'll still make a killing selling them for 130K instantly. Maybe their plan is to sell in volume, instead of the traditional gardening route of a couple ores a month for one big payday at a time.

I rely on gardening for a majority of my income, as well as craft materials. Here's why I don't care about the ore-rollercoaster.

*And I suggest this only if you can grow ores consistently and reliably.

I simply made a deal with a crafter (actually, I've gone through a couple) to provide ores or other growable materials as needed. I can simply grow and send and he sends me gil for the materials (usually based on the average market price of the last two weeks). Now, I don't recommend starting out like that immediately. I built a lot of trust first. But it's nice now to be able to send out my crop when I harvest before work and come home later to a nice payment =)

I would have to agree on one thing. One of the reasons the price goes down on what would be a high coat material is the fact that:
1) you getting hit with a sizable tax to put it up in the AH.
2) you want to make sure it sells, and sells fast.

Think about it.
Player A puts a wind ore up for sale for 260k and he already has 1.5mil in gil. He might not care about the tax.
Now
Player B puts a wind ore up for sale for 160k because he might not want to pay the high price on tax, but knows for 160k his wind ore will sell faster, and might bring in a little more gil with the bidding war over the ore..

My advise: Hold on to it for a little while and watch the AH. The prices will go back up and then you sell it.
Or
Get someone to craft it into a Wind Staff and sell that^^

Or even just a Wind Bead, if that price is stable.

people are purposly driving the price down. see my previous post. its not the 'auction fee'.. they did the same thing to wind ore previous to the patch.. I mean. wind ore would sell within minutes at 200+ k.. so there would be no need to undercut it so drastically. I asked a GM if price fixing is against the rules. .they said no.. SO.. you might be seeing wind ores for 1 gil. .just to prove my poin!
