So I wander into Davoi on a fact finding mission for The Crimson Trial quest. I make it to the place with the well for the PLD quest. Beside me is a passage to an adjacent area that is fenced off. So I toddle up the ramp that leans on the fence and drop in when I realize I'm a dumbass and forgot to cast sneak.
One lizard, two lizard, orc chieftain, dead.
So here is my question. Was I at least in the right place?

Underneath that very ramp is a ??? used to spawn Purpleflesh Brukduk.
so I went too far... hmmm
Now there was only one orc there at the time. If someone went in and started kickin it's ***, would the bad mothers on the other side of that fence be able to get at you or is their line of sight blocked.
Basically I don't feel like draggin some friends in to die along with me. I'd like for us all to survive.

The ??? is NOT used to spawn Purplefish Brokdek. It's used to obtain Thyme Moss for a San d'Orian quest. Purplefish is an independent spawn, and can be effectively solo'd as a level 60 Red Mage.
cast invis not sneak
OK hon, you went too far there, and you don't need to do anything to spawn Purpleflash. He pops on his own about every ten minutes, despawns if no one kills him, and then respawns again.
Purpleflash will pop either in the corridor between the area JUST BEFORE the Paladin well and the one to the left of that, or in that area to the left.
Bring a couple good DD around lvl 52+, another healer and yourself, and you should be fine ;) He's not a hard kill, just kind of annoying; he's a BLM, and isn't silencable, at least not by anyone I've gone with. He likes to cast -ga spells. ><

Cheerfully trundled in as a RDM 41, smacked him with my sword, and saw I barely nicked his HP. I turned around and RLH.
Came back later and spanked him in the name of my dead RDM homies though.

And Bowser just incase the info is helpful.... Invis was on but the lizzies on the other side of that fence aggro to sound, unlike the regular war lizards... :(

Or just get a helpful 70+ RDM to duo him with you; he's really pretty wimpy. And I have managed to silence him once or twice, Sioux... but he's a blighter and hates having Silence on him. ^^
I thought he was a forced spawn. The rest of the AF1 NMs are, aren't they?
I had read a guide that said to clear the area of orcs, which my LS friends and I did. No spawn. So we rested for a while and waited. New orcs spawned, no NM. Cleared them again and rested and waited. No spawn. I went back and read the same AF1 guide someone just posted, and it said to activate the ???. So we did that, and all of a sudden we see the NM walking around aimlessly in the open behind us. He did not aggro the tank like the guide said. I'll concede that to my knowledge every other ???-type spawn NM will automatically aggro whoever activated it. If that's not a forced spawn point, then it must have just been an awfully big coincidence.

o ya i hated purple flashes damn ga spells. then i hated the lizzys. i forgot sneak also after i had key from him had invis walked in orc camp to check one of the storage hole spawn points. 1 lizzy hits me un invis all orcs ep to me nxt thing u know 12 orc train all hitting me for around 20+
