Yes, they're back. My guess is that SE could only ban them for a couple of months. Who's up for an Ordelle's Caves raid?

There were apparently suspended, and not banned. So it's back to the old days. Though everyone is apparently "on to them," and snubbing them, etc. So this is gonna be *really* interesting. -_-

I just wanna know why on earth would they let them back in knowing full well what they did? Whatever. I'm tired of trying to understand SE.

OK, SE has no solid proof, No matter how obvious it is. They have no proof that the Jerry's are selling the Gil that they aquire. If they Ban them, the Jerry's file a law suite against SE and then there will be no SE. So if you are wondering why they don't ban them, that is why.

Uh... I don't think they can sue for being banned. O.o I'm pretty sure the TOS of the game allow SE to ban anyone they want for any reason they want. It's THEIR service, they're allowed to do whatever they want to do. If I'm wrong, I'll be surprised. And I'll EAT MY HAT.

Suing SE is a big mony sink their team of lawyers will eat anyone alive, and the laws in Japan are different than those in China, they can ban them for no reason if they wanted without fear of a lawsuit. It is actually in the TOS that they can ban you for any reason they chose to without letting you know, so why they didnt ban is beyond me because they can if they chose to.

Byaina is right. SE can ban anyone from FFXI and POL services for whatever reason they please, or even no reason at all really. Heck, Valve just banned around 30,000 accounts from Steam for using a fake Half Life 2 key. I think Valve went a little overboard though, since THEY put out the fake key, and they banned people from ALL their games, even ones they legitamately bought. They still did it though. SE can certainly ban the Jerry's, the Angels, the Redapples etc if they wanted to. They just don't want to. =(

Well, I was just wondering why couldn't a SE representative just 'buy' some gil online from companies like the Jerry's and Redapples and Zooes etc...and once they deliver it, they have solid proof of gil selling...? Maybe this would be a bit hypocritical but it could work in theory..just thoughts though, I am only speculating here... :\

What I don't get is why SE doesn't localize the servers. If they had NA servers, Japan servers, Euro servers, and International servers, keeping track of and banning gilsellers wouldn't be a problem. US and Japanese laws certainly would allow for gilsellers to be sued and banned. Granted this wouldn't allow for the diverse community that we all love and share, but SE is a business no matter how much we like to ignore that fact, and that would make the most sense economically.

um, well, i figure that SE doesn't push the issue because it leads to more active accounts and thus more $ for them. i mean that a)gil sellers buy multiple accounts, and b)people who suck at the game maintain accounts because they can still play with bought gil.

nobody honestly cares about TOS, except that it is a tool to get rid of people who are actively commiting DOS attacks on others, or hacking SE's property in some fashion.

flame if you want; i don't like the idea of gil selling, and i don't like the inflated economy, or the effective denial of service bot campers and such present. i'm just opining on the why, and that WHY is most likely money.

the only way to get SE to act, i'm thinking would be a player boycott or something, which defeats our purposes just as much as SE's.

actually, thinking about it, what would be fun would be to organize a protest march. maybe get four or five hundred people to march from each capitol to jeuno, with /sh macros ablaze with anti gil-seller slogans. the biggest trouble would be getting the high lvls to cooperate as parade marshalls, clearing aggro mobs from the parade route.

it would make a great movie, if nothing else. and the .avi being passed around alone could generate enough noise to send the message to SE.

man, thinking about all of this makes me want to get back in game ASAP. hopefully i'll have my utility disc in the mail tomorrow and ASAP will be tomorrow night.

maybe they didnt get banned, they could have gone on a world cruise with their riches from archer rings? It seems more likely that they took a break, and some idiot went "OMG SE BANZORZEDEDED THEM!!!1"

As people pointed out, SE can ban anyone and i'm pretty sure they wouldnt let them back in.

I've already said elsewhere that it's not hard for them to ban gilsellers. They could if they wanted to. All they have to do is make a char, buy gil, receive the gil, ban the gilgiver, and then check the transaction logs to find who gave that gil to the gilgiver. Once you whack the Lv. 60 characters that were earning the gil, you deal the gilsellers a serious setback. Not only do they lose all their assets, but they also lose money having to re-establish the chars that were used to make that gil.

It's not that hard. They just don't want to do it.
