How do I get an Astral Ring?Follow

Astral Rings...

They've got their ups and downs, I've read almost all the threads on them. I'd still like 2 of them.

My question then becomes, how do I get my grubby little Taru paws on a pair. I don't have 700k to throw around, so what am I supposed to do? As far as I can tell, they got moved to the Den of Rancor as a rare drop off one of the mobs there, and I'm no where near high enough to go in there and not get myself killed.

None of my high level friends are willing to go in there (they really aren't high enough level either), and by the time I'm up there enough to get a pair, they won't be of any use to me. I'd have an easier time getting a pair of Serket Rings from the way things are sounding.

So I need some advice. I don't really want to just forego these little baubles, but I'm kind of in a pinch. Any help here would be hot :)

Oh, and if anyone feels like donating an old pair, send them to LLEW :)

Farm. :/ That's the only answer if you can't go pop a coffer in Den of Rancor. Sorry. Unless of course they added them to a new BCNM, but I don't think so...

I'm fairly sure they added them to the Treasure Chest BCNM, but throwing away beastmen seals on that isn't something I'd recommend.

I'd suggest just getting yourself a pair of electrums (about 10k each) until you can afford to buy the astrals. You only lose 10mp in the whole deal, and if 10mp is really worth 680k to you, then just start saving ;)

Do that BCNM 50 comet orb, you got 1/3 chance of getting loot, if you're lucky astral ring will be in there.

Other loots in there are those cheap latent effect rings. My buddy and I both picked the right chest but he got astral ring while I got a 3k Drake ring. If you have 50 seals and want to test your luck, by all means, put on stone skin and blink and get ready to warp if you pop a mimic. Or get a level 10 character and spend a few prism powder to get to the bcnm.

Oh not fair ^^

Don't be donating no Astral Rings to a Taru, there's an Elvaan red mage over here with bigger puppy eyes and a skinnier MP bar :D

Llew, I have heard tell of a BCNM, soloable, that drops the astral rings. It involves three chests when you enter, two of which are Mimics. Pick the wrong chest and kill the Mimic, and you get two chests, one of which is a Mimic.
Pick the wrong one then and Bob Saget appears in a poof of smoke, laughs at you, and instantly hits you for so much damage you delevel to 4.

Nah, I'm kidding ;)

But this is a soloable 50-cap BCNM in Giddeus from what I read, and it was referred to as the 'suicide' bcnm.

edit: oh crap...well...what virtually every poster before me said.

Pay special attention to the price history. The prices have been wildly fluctuating. Study the trends and farm accordingly and you may just get lucky with a low(er) price. Also check Bazaars near the AHs, there's always that possibility someone is offering an item for a much cheaper price. That's how I got my Morion Tathlum for 5,000 gil. Generally speaking, the more rings there are up for sale, the more likely the prices will fall. You could attribute it to undercutting, but it's basic marketing.

OTherwise, do that BCNM they mentioned if you can, or farm you heart out. Though I wouldn't feel too bad if you end up not getting them, since your MP as a Taru will more than pay for itself.
